I can't believe I'm reviewing an LRT station, but you know what... this review is needed! First…read moreoff, I love this location. It's very convenient for me. And I don't have to park here either. I f'ing HATE this station. It is the most POORLY planned station. It's the only station on the south side with a park and ride (yes, a crappy park and ride), but let's assume that draws even MORE riders. In fact, any transit users who lives in Southwest Edmonton, and even as far as mill woods will likely use this station to get to and from work or school. So why, WHY, dear planners did you only put in One. F'ing. Stairwell. One stairwell that exits to the transit/kiss'n'drop/parking. Hundreds of people get off the train during peak hours. We get the choice of three stairwells to go up to the pedway. Once we all get across the pedway, and everyone is in a rush to get to their bus, these hundreds of people are now herded like cattle into a 3 foot wide stairwell. Maybe it's 5 feet wide. THE ONLY SET OF STAIRS exiting. I actually sent an email to the City last year complaining about this because it's only a matter of time before one rushed person knocks someone down, causes a domino effect, and a lawsuit for the city. And by the way, the City acknowledged they are aware of the issue and aren't sure how to fix it. There is PLENTY of room to have ANOTHER STAIRWELL exiting north. But what do I know... I'm just a Yelper ;) Rant. Over.

Century Park is an LRT station in Edmonton. Here are the pros and cons…read more Cons... - The parking at this LRT station is iffy. If you're coming in the morning at like 7am, then may god have mercy on your soul. You'll only get a parking spot if the flying spaghetti monster touches you with his noodly appendage. Basically in the morning unless you have a prepaid monthly pass you're not parking at Century. The afternoon and evening parking is easier to come by. - The parking lot itself is horrible. Not only is there a lack of spots, but the lot is gravel and gets super muddy in the spring. Watch out for giant potholes. - It's an above ground station, meaning it can get a bit cold in the winter. There are heaters, but in -30 it doesn't do a lot. You can stay inside by the stairwell, but it tends to get a bit crowded. - This station gets busy, especially during the going to work and going home hours (about 6am-9am and 3pm to 6pm). The trains are quite crowded during these times...if you can avoid going at these times of the day I would - There is an escalator going up from where the bus stations are (you have to take the stairs going down), but there's about a 50/50 chance the escalator will be out of service/broken and you'll be taking the stairs. - ETS is a little bit pricey $3.20 for a 90 minute ride, $9 for an all day pass. I don't use the LRT enough for a monthly pass. I recommend buying a 10 pack of tickets (usually available at local 7-11 stores) and you'll save a bit of money per ride. Pros.... - This is the furthest LRT station on the southside, so for people living on the southside, or coming in from the airport (there's the 747 bus hookup) or Leduc it's nice to have this LRT. It wasn't too long ago that you'd have to drive or take the bus to the University Station, because that was the furthest south LRT point in the city. - The trains are usually on time, at least from what I found (and I took the LRT from Century a few times a week when I was in school). There's always the information screens that let's you know when the next train is coming and what direction it's going (Clareview or NAIT). - The parking (when you can find it) is free. - There is now free wifi at the station. Nice. - There is also a little concession/coffee stand in the waiting area for the buses. I've never been there, but it's a nice touch. - And speaking of buses Century Park LRT is right next Century Transit Centre where there are buses that head out to other neighbourhoods on the southside, as well as to the airport, and Leduc (during certain weekday hours only). - The station has a pedway connecting the transit centre side (buses) to the LRT, as well there is a pedway going across 111th to the west side of the street. Nice particularly during winter. - The Kiss 'n Ride signs make me laugh. I think it's supposed to be "you give your s.o a kiss before he/she rides the lrt to work," but when first seeing those signs my mind went somewhere else...just saying. Century Park is all right. I wish the parking was better (I live in Leduc and I can't always take the local bus to the LRT) and the price wasn't so high, but for the few times a year when I need to take the LRT then Century Park is my go to starting/ending station.

RV, tenting, and they have yurt camping which looks amazing and it's on my list to try. Some sites are more difficult than others to set up a tent. The ground is just too packed down and rocky. And other sites I've been on haven't been an issue. Pit toilets and flush toilets. Day use area has the best cellular network connection. Depending on where your site is there is a high likelihood you won't have any. There is some sandy beachiness in the day use area, but you cannot swim in the lake. My favourite part is that it is a dark sky preserve. It's wonderful at night to watch the sky in the amazing quiet of nature.

Camping is a hit or miss. You'll either get good campers beside you and a good weather or opposite…read moreor worst opposite of both. Booking was alright but limited since most people book way early and for next year, the website shows pics of booking spots which is nice to see but not usually as accurate when arriving to camp spot. Luckily when I went it was funtastic, hot weather with cool winds, camp spot was alright but more rocky then grassy for my tent placement selection. However, I brought enough gear which I prepared for camping such as a hammock, bbq utensils, disposable dishes, cups, food and water just to enjoy the stay. Note: Always bring sweats, sweaters, blankets and sleeping bags because it gets extremely chilly at night. Bring clothes according to the weather and appropriate shoes for hiking or hot weather, I'd say one park of beach sandals and hiking shoes. Washrooms are readily available which is nice, with showers (hot) free, and has a outdoor washer for cleaning dishes. Parking lot is limited to campground however the beach/lake view has large parking areas. Be sure to review their map for activities which is updates monthly, there are plenty of things to do such as the theatre which is a learning centre. Their website contains specific bookings for their programs too that include stargazing. Be mindful that this is also a national park, meaning there is an entrance fee and depending on your camp stay you'll need to pay for those days too per person. Take your time to visit the tourism spots and nice picnic areas. Recommended for first time campers or camping goers. Trails for hikers, people who like to camp with friends or family. July is the best time to swim later months lake is algae infested. I would definitely come back here again. At night the beach view is amazing when sun goes down almost romantic as the night stars appear. It would have been spectacular if I camped when the northern lights were at its highest.

Full of animation, enunciates clearly, and speaks loudly enough to hear her in the back of the group! She has a wealth of knowledge so ask questions - especially if you can walk with her between stops! One of my favourite stories was about Pembina Hall being used as a morgue during the Spanish Flu pandemic after the soldiers were returning home from the war. The trolley was heated for those that don't like walking in the cold. I made the reservations online. Really, easy to book. The tour was about an hour long. The scariest part for my friend was being on the trolley stopped in the middle of the bridge while some of the stories were told. This was a great way to learn some of Edmonton's history!
