A friend has told me that when the mosquitoes are out, Miquelon Lake provincial park beach is out ... b/c the Lake somehow grows lots of them?
Well, I think it'd be worth swatting them away to get to the beach if the day has the least bit of wind because once at the beach, you're in heaven. Nice sand and lots of it! The first bit of the lake as you're walking in has a quicksand-like feeling to about 3 inches deep of sand but then after that first bit, it's smooth walking (no rocks) for what feels like forever (it's actually only 10 metres, probably) before you get to some greater depth (as in deeper than your waist).
Unofficially, you can take your dog to the point furthest to the ... uhm, right (my internal radar doesn't work when I'm thinking about that place, but I think the direction I'm wanting is East) -- just please pick up after your dog so that way we can continue getting our dogs swimming in something other than the North Saskatchewan!
Apparently if you want to camp there, you have to reserve early -- check the website out. But it's an easy drive from Edmonton, making it a great spot for a day's vacation! read more
