The vibe is super fun and reminds me a lot of Central Perk from Friends. Tables and couches arranged in cozy conversational corners. We ended up staying because we liked the ambience. We each had a gelato with a topping that came in around $15 including tip. I had salted caramel and my guest had the butter brickle. Both were very tasty and we would likely come back to try some other flavors or just enjoy the vibe with some coffee. The staff was both friendly and helpful and offered samples of the gelato to help us decide.

JoyHouse coffee, belonging to Evangel Church in Bismarck. This is a big church with constant movement, but it's really such an enjoyable spot to hang out and get work done. The best thing about JoyHouse is that they have crepes!!! Crepes are something I absolutely cannot resist, and I was so excited to see they make them here. Also, I sat in the shop so long that the adorable girl working offered me a free tea! It was so nice and I would for sure come back here again. JoyHouse is rightly named!

Unfortunately I am standing here at 1 pm on a Monday and I drove across town specifically to go to this establishment (looking for spices to be precise) and it is closed. It really amazes me that businesses aren't open when people are out shopping. Ok, celebrate the Sabbath, but What about Monday and the hours before 11 or after 6? As I stand here writing this, two other people walked up and then left. Perhaps this is what is the most aggravating part. If you know downtown Bismarck at all, you know parking can really suck, yet the owner posted an 8 1/2 x 11 sign on the door, so one has to walk up to read it, meaning parking someplace like one one of the ramps that cost money. I don't know if they even validate, but I guess I will never know now. And to think I told my daughter just last week that I no longer needed to buy my olive oil in Nashville or order spices online.
