I previously enjoyed living here at Link Apartments Manchester for the first 2 1/2 years but the past year and a half has been A LIVING NIGHTMARE!!! The neighbors above me are constantly loud all throughout the day starting from 6 AM as late as 1 AM and it is seriously enraging. I have complained about this to management multiple times, submitted audio recordings, and they have literally done nothing! I have tried to talk with the neighbors directly but they refused to answer the door and had to leave letters as well as my cell phone number so that we can discuss this issue. Nothing has seem to be working and unfortunately I am forced to move out of an apartment that I absolutely loved. I felt that it would be my due diligence to warn anyone who is coming to be aware of living here as you will be dealing with some incredibly loud and inconsiderate neighbors. Living at Link Apartments definitely had its perks and its downfalls. I was sold on the adequate space, nice floors and appliances, large bedroom and large closet. Included garage parking was another great perk. Internet is also included in rent, but it is rather slow and very difficult to stream anything. Noise from neighbors is about what you would expect in any apartment, and I was fortunate to live around people who kept their noise to a reasonable level. Street noise from the neighboring apartment building can be an issue if you live on that side of the building though. Some residents at Link let their animals urinate in the elevators, and do not clean up after them. Many days the elevators smell like stale pet urine. Location wise: I enjoyed being close to downtown and you can easily walk to the river. I did not like that Manchester does not have a grocery store or many decent food options, so that was rather inconvenient. But there is a brewery, pizza place, and Subway all within walking distance. The office staff (Shayla) and maintenance are always pleasant and kind, and maintenance is very quick to respond to work orders. Overall, I found Link to be a reasonably priced city apartment with enjoyable features and amenities. read more

I have been living at Link Apartments Manchester for 3 years now and I can definitely say I am more than pleased. This place fits me well. The staff is always nice... I mean every single person. They really try hard to make us feel like they care about their residents. My problem becomes their problem and they will see you through to the end. When the maintenance work crew comes in to fix anything (only thing that ever happened was my fault) they are clean and leave a slip to let you know your issue was taken care of. They NEVER send nastygrams (rude emails). Even when there is an issue the emails are so nicely crafted with a level of professionalism you can appreciate. The noise level where I live is pretty low. I never hear anyone above beside or below me. I hardly have on the TV so my house is usually quite. There are dogs but the halls are cleaned so often they never smell, which is nice since I don't own a dog. Plus I never hear barking. They try to have events for us that are always nice and I try to make it a point to attend since they do try to make them nice and offer a lot as well. Overall I love and would recommend this apartment complex because the peace of mind is worth it to me. I never have to worry about crazy rent increases they are pretty modest. They have the biggest kitchen space for the cost. Trust me I compared so many places. The private parking and secured entry are great features for me as a single woman. Plus they are green and my bills are never outrageous due to poor construction. I thought I was going to stay a year then buy but I honestly don't mind renting and living here and I love not having to worry about anything. The only thing I wish my apartment had was a balcony for sitting and broom closet of some sort just to put my cleaning supplies and my vacuum. If you are looking for a luxury apartment that is close to everything this is the place for you. read more

Would not recommend... The staff is extremely nice however. 1. Windows are not high grade and you can hear everything outside. 2. Overall construction of apartments is terrible, you can hear everything from the apartments above you. It's not just the neighbor either, I lived in two separate apartments and had same problem, other residents told me they have the same experience. I mean it's really REALLY bad. 3. They are having trouble controlling the pool, neighborhood people are coming in and taking over the pool, police have been called several times over the past few months. 4. Cars have been stolen inside the "secured" garage. 5. It's a "transitional neighborhood" so you should be aware of that, it is convenient to get to the fan and downtown. 6. They claim to be a "green certified" building and they technically may be but that does not translate into lower utility bills. I installed LED lights in everything I used and didn't use them much and my electric bill ranged from 130-150 a month for a tiny one bedroom apartment. 7. If you do decide to move here, whatever you do don't get a first floor apartment... people walking down the street will keep you awake all night and god forbid you have an apartment on the Semmes side, traffic noise will drive you insane. If the rents were much much lower here, it might and i stress might be worth putting up with all the above. The rents aren't low though, very high rents considering. read more

I'm getting ready to move out of Link after 3 years as I have bought a home. Overall, my experience at Link has been a good one. Shayla and Karla are very attentive and the property is well managed. The Maintenance crew is super responseive and helpful. I've heard horror stories about terrible management and maintenance services from friends who live elsewhere in Richmond, so I was thankful I never had any issues. Anything that needed tending to happened quickly and professionally. Pest control happens on a regular preventative basis, as does smoke alarm and filter changes. The hallways are painted and kept up with as needed, as are other community features within the apartment. You don't find that with every management company so I definitely appreciate the effort that is put in to keeping up with appearances. The outside noise didn't bother me, and my apartment faces Semmes Ave, but I'm used to and enjoy city living. The apartment itself is super conveniently located. A year into my stay the Pottersfield Bridge was built and I loved being able to walk across the street and have access to Richmond so easily. There is an on-site small gym but the YMCA is only 8 minutes away and easy to get to. The best perk is the secure parking. I don't know what other people are talking about, but I could almost never hear my neighbors on either side of me and I lived in two different apartments during my stay at Link. I could occasionally hear my upstairs neighbor, but never enough to be bothersome. Overall as a single woman, I felt safe, secure, and like I had everything I needed at Link. Had I not bought a house, I certainly would have continued my stay. read more

Been here almost two years and really enjoy it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rent is pretty reasonable for the location (love the location). Its takes me about 15 minutes to walk to Shockoe Bottom and commuting to work downtown is a two minute drive. It is right next to belle isle and Legend Brewery...What more could you ask for! Also, the pool area is a pretty good perk. read more

I have lived here for 2 years and it's the best place in Manchester! Fantastic leasing office staff. The maintenance staff is amazing as well. Every Time i had to put in a work order (which is rarely), they either fixed it that day or the next. Never had to wait a week or two like most places I've rented with. Best place I've lived in Richmond since I moved here. My apartment has a great view, spacious closet and open concept for my many dinner parties. I recommended a co-worker and I got money off of my rent! I would advise anyone to live here as it's cheaper than the other apartments in the area and is better quality. read more

Ok, so my girlfriend and I wanted to move and experience the downtown living. We found this complex just about a 10 minute walk from downtown. This place, in general, was all right. We got everything they promised us, such as city view, over-sized windows, free parking and internet, and they advertised us that the apartments were energy efficient. Months went by and the internet they "offer" was horrible. I am a Network Architect, and love to be able to build and have a decent speed on internet and a nice network. The network always failed and crashed. You figure since you are paying a whole lot of rent money, to at least get decent internet, well you couldn't. We got Comcast instead. The "free" parking was a plus, however, issues started to rise when tow trucks towed my vehicle twice for "not having the permit displayed clearly." While other neighbors had their permits not visible. I always seemed to be the unlucky one to get my vehicle towed. The last one incident was that they towed it because it was parked on a "handicap" spot which, really, lots and several people parked there also, but I was the unlucky one to get my vehicle towed. Of course, I made the complex talk to the towing company to release my vehicle for free. I was furious. I used to park in the street and got a ticket for parking in a no parking zone. The no parking zone just got put up two months ago and the complex failed to tell its residents, several people got tickets because we didn't get informed. I put a complaint and they said they weren't responsible because it is public, which I really believe is not fair for us, the residents. The electric bill went to the roof. Like literally it was ridiculous. The appliances weren't really energy efficient like they said as well as the light fixtures. During the summer time, warm air would come out as the A/C and cold air during the winter when I turned the heater on. The thermostat kept on failing several times and it would never regulate, it would just run and run despite of being in AUTO mode. Maintenance techs came and "fixed" the issue but it didn't get better. I now live in a 40 year old townhome and the electric bill there is reasonable, like it should be! I have my computers. servers, routers, lights, TV's and heater in AUTO mode and the bill isn't as high as it was at Link. (Think twice before moving and ask if its really an energy efficient apartment.) We got tired of the construction noise!! Summer of last year a contracting company came next door and leveled the place to build a 10 story apartment building, thus blocking our view and creating nasty noises. One of my neighbors also told me he was tired of the H3ll he was living and he was two doors away from me. They are still building it and the complex is still charging a lot of money for a view they can't even show! The apartments are overpriced for the site, looks, and space. if you really want luxury move to the Locks or First National. If you want luxury and don't want carpet in your floor move to 3600 West Broad street, where it is really energy efficient and they don't charge pet rent. Also, if you want to pay less rent per month and still have a decent place to live, move to either henrico or chesterfield. I do NOT recommend Link Apartments to a family or a recently married couple, especially if you cook, better move to The Locks, where the kitchen area is huge and better space and counter tops, and they have a pantry. The kitchen area at Link is very small and the sinks are too shallow to even do heavy dish washing; the fridge is low quality and is not even energy efficient; the microwave is way too high up (if you're a short person, it will stick) the fake wooden floor they have in the kitchen area gets dirty too quickly. These apartments are suitable for people who relocate a lot and don't have time to cook; for singles; for students who eat out and don't require much space, or for womanizers to have some weekend escapades. If you want a family and luxury based complex move to the locks where the kitchen area and living are twice as big as Link. If you want quality and to be in the heart of Richmond move to First National, if you hate carpet and have pets move to 3600 West Broad where it is wooden floors and no pet rent. If you have a pet and think on moving to Link Apartments, think twice, because it is going to be waste of time and money, time because you will have to clean the carpet and make sure it is not smelly and has no spots; and money because at the end of your lease they will still replace it and charge you over $600 for a brand new carpet, regardless of you spending time cleaning it. After me doing treatment to the carpet they told me they were going to replace it regardless because of pet damage. Pros: Nice grills, good for singles and students who can't cook and care less about space. Cons: too pricey for space and location, small appliances, no pantry. read more

I moved in 3 months ago and I am so unhappy and disappointed with the apartment. One week after I moved in I complained of the noise from the street being so loud with the windows shut- you cannot get any sleep or have people over because of the excessive noise. I complained to the manager and she said she would find a different apartment in the same building that is not so noisy and she never followed up or offered another apartment. I would definitely not recommend living here. Windows are so cheap and not only that windows also do no have screens. Their wifi is also not that great it's not entirely secure and connection drips every time you move around in the apartment. I had to end up getting my own internet service from Comcast. read more

In addition to parking and trash, there's free wifi. And I'm able to stream like pandora, Netflix, whatever without a problem. Management is very responsive and will fix any problems you have. A lot of young professionals as residents. Only a 5 minute drive to downtown/VCU. Up and coming area , so still not a lot of groceries/food places within Manchester, but again downtown is so close. read more
