DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT LIVE THERE. When you initially look at apartments, you will see all their beautiful apartments and the pool areas things like that. Walk around the property a little bit! The breezeways in every building are gross and never cleaned. There is always trash specifically in the lower levels and they never clean them, I would take my personal blower and clean it. They painted the stairs last year in all the buildings yet they didn't even clean the areas first, they just painted over Hair ,dirt, and leaves. We were nightly frustrated with loud music and people in the street screaming. Christmas night there was a huge fight just outside my apartment. We had our delivery packages repeatedly stolen to where we had to get an Amazon locker for delivery's. The back trash area of the trash is ALWAYS over flowing and so gross you don't want to go near it. Yet, you are forced to pay the mandatory charge of $30 a month for "valet trash service" at your door. This only 4 days a week if you're lucky and depending on the mood of trash people they may or may not take your trash, yet you can't opt out. Run far and fast from this property. Overall, The Madison Apartments have treated my family well. This apartment complex is nicely quiet despite being in the middle of Short Pump, you are close to everything you need, the apartments are high-quality, and the staff/maintenance has done a great job taking care of us. The only major thing I would like to see in the future are more hardwood floor options. As there are some on the first floor, there are not any options on the 2nd or 3rd, and this could definitely help elevate their apartments. read more

My family has had a positive experience living at the Madison. Being eco-friendly is important to us, so we like that there are many places that you can walk to from the complex. It's also pretty quiet despite the proximity to everything in Short Pump. Neighbors are friendly and quiet. We toured probably 20 apartments in the area before settling on The Madison last year. It definitely had the best walkability in the area. The interior apartments are also intelligently designed to maximize your space. We have 2 adults and a child living in a 3-bedroom here and our space fits us perfectly without feeling over-crowded. We have been living here for about 2 months and things have been wonderful so far. there were a few issues when we moved in and our water was turned off and within an hour or 2 of calling maintenance after hours of operation they were here and fixes everything. the community is very nice and the apartments are spacious (especially the kitchen) read more

I am a current tenant and upon reading some of the reviews felt it necessary to leave my own. This is my third move in a year having relocated from another Country a year ago. While the Madison is an older complex and the bedrooms are smaller than some of the newer places I chose it for other reasons. My last apartment the stairs attached to the master bedroom and were awfully noisy. This is not the case here. So far the noise you hear from neighbors is minimal and nothing that you wouldn't expect with apartment living. In fact it is very peaceful just sitting on my porch on a weekend hearing children playing occasionally and birds chirping. The response time for any issues is phenomenal! I had a pile up of leaves by my front door after a heavy wind and within hours of my email they were removed. The location is amazing and staff are wonderful! I would highly recommend this complex. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Moved in about 3 weeks ago and it has been hell. We have complained over 10 times about the noises coming from the upstairs neighbors. We were prepared for small noises but these people are banging something so loud that we can feel it in our apartment. There is also a lot of running and jumping around, assuming from a small child. On top of the noise being so loud and disruptive, they last for hours and all throughout the day and night. We have been woken out of sleep so many times to banging from upstairs. Sarah from the leasing office even came over to our apartment, heard the noises for herself and compared it to someone dropping a bowling ball on the floor over and over. But for some reason, the leasing offices "fix" is calling and asking them to stop. It's not working. I work full time and go to school and I have to commute so sleep is important. I pay rent to live in a home that I can come to and have peace. That is the OPPOSITE of what I have experienced since moving in. I do not recommend these apartments. We have complained so many times that it's exhausting and extremely disheartening that no one is taking this seriously. We pay to live here too and we are uncomfortable and unhappy. read more

Decent apartments but obviously over priced do to the location. The staff is nice and the service was usually quick when you would encounter an issue with the apartment. I lived there for 2 years and never had any issues with neighbors, noises or anything. The pools were nice to have during the warm weather and seemed to be maintained pretty well. Obviously being a gated community gives you a bit of sense of security and class. They're only gated by card and the gates seemed to be broke often. My displeasure with the Madison was upon leaving. I am a clean person and I also respect property that belongs to other people. Out of the time have rented I have always collected my full deposit on departure (2 to 3 years leasing). Before leaving I made sure to respectfully return things back the way I got them. I filled any nail holes from pictures on the walls. I scrubbed the floors, corners, tub, sinks, oven freezer and everything else I could physically get to. That apartment looked great upon my departure minus wear n tear items such as a few spots on the carpet from my 2 kids and maybe spilling juice once or twice. I had one little spot no bigger than a foot that our cat urinated on and I wasn't able to get the tint fully off the carpet by the utility closet. However I put a deposit (600$) down upon signing the lease that should easily have covered that. From cleaning ovens to freezers which I clearly did on leaving. I had the oven spotless minus a little 4" spot inside that was charred and the cleaner wouldn't remove. The freezer/fridge was spotless. The only thing I didn't do was remove Popsicles because I left them in there for whoever wanted them. They tried changing me for repainting which I don't understand.. The lease stated that I only had to repaint if I colored the wall. I did no painting while I lived there. When signing the lease they give you a free one wall paint, color of your choice. I did the red in the living room on the wall that you'd hang a TV. I did not paint that... So I would not be liable of repainting it. Regardless after someone is there for 2 years they will most likely repaint anyways. And the spakle spots to cover nail holes would only take a touch up. The walls were clean... They also tried chargging for new carpeting and padding for pet damage. There was one small spot in the bonus/computer room (no balcony) that could have easily been replaced on its own as that little room was it's own section of carpet(you could see the seem the separates the carpet). It was no more than maybe a 3x12 section. Regardless a pet deposit was given when I moved in. Go online to apartment ratings and you will also find more story's on how they like to try and charge you for things such as carpets and cleaning fees when leaving that are clearly just wear n tear or just flat out bogus charges. I would advise living in that area as its beautiful. However I would not advise leaving at the Madison at Spring Oaks if you plan on being there more than a week and actually put any kind of wear on anything. They have affected my credit because I refuse to pay and they refuse to drop it. I am now in talks with an attorney and will get this resolved if they are not willing to do something about it. read more

Snow removal was horrible during this snowstorm. The Madison had no sympathy for its residents. It felt like we were left for dead. I saw people stressed out without shovels just waiting for the Madison to help just to be disappointed and left to fend for themselves. Your staff just created a path to our entrances and left. One of them literally told another elderly resident that "the rest of the snow removal is your problem". I would hate to see an elderly person attempt to dig themselves out only to have a heart attack. It seems like there is a lack of care for the residents during a state of emergency and I see no intention from The Madison to help its residents. This is the most horrible attempt i have ever seen to remove snow. My previous residence actually helped its residents during snowstorms and times of need. Snowplows trapped people in by pushing 2-3 ft of snow in front of our vehicles . And still, management did nothing about it. There is no excuse for this disservice. read more

The Madison located in Short Pump is a Clean and Well Maintained Gated Community. It has 2 Pools, a Dog Park, Playground Equipment, Tennis Courts, Volleyball, and a Community House that can accommodate small business meetings. This year they have painted the Exterior Black and Mustard. The Staff is friendly and the crew is reasonably responsive to repairs. There are a few cautions: 1) It is not uncommon for the lights in the dog park and the pathway to it to simply be left off. An oversight, but a regular one. 2) The path to the park is not a sidewalk and runs along an embankment, so don't be surprised if you twist your ankle in the dark with Fido. 3) The Madison refers to itself as a Pet Friendly Community, and it is, there are stations all over the community. HOWEVER, Watch your Wallet on the Back End. Despite a Pet Fee they will find a way to get you to pay for new carpet. My advice is to DOCUMENT every Small Detail on the Front End and Along the Way. For us, it served its purpose as a Temporary landing spot while we built our new home. Despite the items mentioned above, The Madison in Short Pump is a Great Location close to many convenances. If you are moving and need a Temporary Spot I further recommend Renting one of their reasonable Spacious Garages. read more

Sarah is extremely rude. She speaks on things she has no knowledge about and it's always wrong. Wayne doesn't care about anything you have to say. The neighbors walk everywhere all the time. The pool was dirty all summer. The neighbors will complain over the tiniest sound regardless of how loud they are. The complex enters your home for repairs even if you say call before or don't enter unless I'm home. People walk their dogs without leashes constantly. If you have an issue they don't care and will just tell you what they want to shut you up. The renovations that are happening are extremely loud around you and there are nails, dirt and a ton of materials left around everywhere. The trash is usually overfilled and disgusting. I've written a review before and they got me to take it down. Places seem nice and spacious but not worth moving in. read more

Wanted to leave a review for the office team which has been wonderful so far during our 4 yrs here! Sara is our leasing agent and she was amazing from our first visit to inspect apartments through my lack of computer skills doing most of this electronically to signing the lease . Wanted to also note that whatever issues we have had regarding appliances needing fixing , AC issues , etc. they are vry fast and usually address issue within a few hrs which is rare nowadays ! We love the location and floor plan of these aptments and have had a great relation with the office management and highly recommend this complex if your in Shortpump. Greg read more

these are the worst apartments ever!! me and my family moved in and we have a lease for 1 year and we moved in and there was ants and cockroaches and insects in the apartment when we saw it so we come back from out of town and there are cockroaches on the sink and the corner of the bathrooms and the ice machine was not working when we moved in there is a inappropriate sentence on the wall outside on the walls yes we know this is a gated community and it's supposed to look nice but its definitely disgusting and the rent is overpriced for what we are paying for read more

My family lived here for one year, and we got absolutely screwed upon move out. We were charged $2,000 for clean-up fees and lack of move-out notification. My husband actually went to small claims court today (something we have never done) over these fees. The judge threw out almost all their clean up charges because (thank god!) we took pictures before we left and had evidence of the cleanliness. If you live there now or plan to in the future, make sure you document EVERYTHING. They got us on the lack of notification part because even though we gave over 60 days notice, it was only in email form. You MUST have it in actual writing. Never had that happen before, but we learned our lesson. We honestly feel like management tried to extort money out of us. I'm glad we went to court so they couldn't get away with it. The community itself was pretty nice, but there are so many options in the West End/Short Pump area that I would steer clear of this place. I wouldn't trust them for a second. Lots of neighbors moved out in the middle of the night after being there a short period of time. Oh! And right after a holiday weekend with almost no notice, they repaved the parking lots. The towing company had a field day as they removed resident car after resident car. We were just lucky to be in town and have some awareness. Don't live here. Just don't. I don't normally take the time to review businesses, but I really enjoyed living at the Madison and figured I'd share my experience. First off, you can't beat the location; the complex is located directly across from Short Pump Mall and near countless restaurants. It is also conveniently located not far from Innsbrook, which made my commute to work very easy. I loved being able to get to the complex from Broad Street or Three Chopt and being super close to both a Martin's and Kroger grocery store. As far as the apartment itself, I lived in a one bedroom apartment, which had plenty of space to suit my needs. The closet was huge and the bathroom had a nice tub/shower with plenty of room. I also loved having my own washer/dryer located off of the kitchen. The apartment was equipped with Fios capability and had a balcony I could enjoy when the weather was nice. One of my favorite amenities offered was the valet trash service. I never had to worry about taking my trash to the dumpster, just had to remember to put my trash can outside my door in the evening and bring it back inside once it was picked up. I also was able to rent a garage conveniently close to my apartment. It's really nice to have that option. I also really enjoyed being able to use the pools. There are also tennis courts available and a gym available in the club house. I found the Madison to be pet friendly as well. I have a dog that really enjoyed the fenced in dog park area and I appreciated the pet waste stations conveniently located throughout the complex. The staff was always very courteous and accommodating. I had a couple important packages delivered during the work day that they were able to sign for and keep in the office until I could pick them up. I also had great experiences with the maintenance staff. They arrived promptly for any emergencies and were very helpful when I had any issues. I would highly recommend living at the Madison. I would definitely live there again. I can't really speak to other resident's issues with moving out, but I have no complaints. read more

As far as apartments go, The Madison is the best apartment complex I have lived at so far mostly due to the staff and service. I also have a dog and the large, lighted dog park is one of my favorite - and most used - outdoor feature right outside my building. The mall is right across the street and my apartment is just two miles from my office. I have lived in my apartment for four years and especially like my built in desk in the sunroom, large bedroom and walk-in closet. Again, the staff is friendly and take care of service requests the same day or next day. read more
