Well maintained, popular links style course in the Hudson Valley with interesting, fun holes. You get off the Taconic and drive a good 10 minutes til you feel as if you're in the middle of no where which you are but that's part of the beauty of the place. The Links at Union Vale is a Scottish Style Links Course that is truly a challenge to any golfers game. There's really no need to even bring your driver unless you just plan on firing balls into the vegetation that is all over the course. The layout is made for point to point golf with lots of forced carries and small landing areas to hit. You need to be strong with your irons to have any chance of scoring well. The course is also on a fairly exposed hilltop so the winds will play havoc with your shots. I found my 3 hybrid to be the longest useful club in my bag as I was able keep the ball low under the wind that would've grabbed shots from my driver or fairway wood. The course was too expensive for my tastes even though I had a very good time playing there. If not for the cost it would probably be a 4 star star course instead of 3. In my opinion it is not worth playing more than occasionally. read more

We just got married there on Friday and from start to finish everything was absolutely AMAZING!!! From the start Rob was great, answering a million questions and setting us up with exactly what we wanted. From there we started working with Dani. She was amazing!! She Met me on her days off to help set up, gave me her cell number to get ahold of her anytime and was literally readily available to answer any and all questions always. (Don't worry, we never abused having her cell number, as we are strong believers in personal time lol) Was nothing but perfect the day of! Chef Ron, was great!! from the time we met him at our tasting and he sat with us and told us everything he was going to do, his recommendations. Not only did nick enjoy all that we ate, but the guests could not say enough good things about the food, people were going for seconds and thirds at cocktail hour raving about how great the food was. The round started off fine, with my only initial grievances being some bumpy greens; nothing worth noting really. However, after about 7 holes a ranger comes around to tell us that we are playing too slowly, meanwhile we had been waiting periodically at previous holes (the group behind us were "members" and clearly had complained). Fine. So the round continues with the same play pace; we waited on some holes for the group ahead of us, as did those behind us as a result. 18 comes around and midway through the hole that same ranger stops us once again, yes on 18, to let us know he'd been watching us the entirety of the hole and said we were again playing to slowly. On a Sunday at a public course a 4:40 round is fantastic, and this was just complete nonsense. Can't say I recommend this place to somebody trying to have a relaxing round. read more

Great Golf Course, varying terrain and as close to a true Links style course you can imagine this far from Ireland.

Not a bad course if you're in the area, but I think it's overpriced. Some quirky little holes, and overall not a bad track. I think everyone in my group had higher expectations. The pace of play also dragged. At least two groups deep at each of the par 3s on the front and then on the 10th. Saw a couple Rangers out, so not really sure what they were up to. 2:45 is way too long to play the front 9. If I wanted a 5 hour round for $70 I would go to Bethpage. read more

Played June 10, 2015. Since last summer they eliminated some water hazards and other natural areas to presumably make the course play easier and speed up play. My partner and I played with a cart in 3:45. We are both high handicappers. The greens were in great shape. The fairways, however, especially on the front nine were pretty chewed up compared to last season. It was not from divots mostly but places where the grass had died or invasive grass had grown. It really stood out on hole 10, but others as well. This is not to say it's not worth playing, but could use some improvement. read more

I have lived a short driving distance from the links. I have also been a resident for over thirty years. I have loved this course for a very long time but my opinion has drastically changed in one round of golf. I had my family in town and made a early tee time We were never made aware that the greens were just air raided and were charged 92$ to play full price no cart girl and also no lunch nothing. The greens were absolutely awful and when I approached pro shop after round I was basically laughed at and felt as if the staff could care a less how I felt. Unfortunately I will no longer be a paying customer to a very over priced course. As a resident I would never recommend this course ever again to anyone. read more

Great course. Play here often. You can get a 5 play coupon book for $250 which makes it extremely affordable. Contrary to another reviewer I find most fairways reasonably wide with plenty of landing area. It does have plenty of distance challenges off the tee. If you are short you are in severe rough or water. The par 5 16th is a great challenge. Club house is great, and the food is just ok but reasonably priced. read more

I find the Course to be a nice change from the usual parkland style courses in the area. Very reasonably priced, especially the very early commencing twilight rate and the pre 8:30 weekday rate....big greens, wide fairways, rough has been cut back noticeably the past few years to help pace of play. There are a couple of forced carries on the first two holes, and an especially difficult one on the 14th par 5, but it is what I would expect out of a championship-caliber layout. If your handicap is above 18, should play the number two tees only. The course measures around 6600 from the three tees and that is plenty long, especially when the wind is up. Very good practice area and friendly staff... if you can play a round in 4:15 or less , the rangers are ok. But if you are holding up play, they can be direct. All in all, a good course with an Irish theme, but not a true links( obviously, it is 80 miles from the ocean). I would definitely recommend it as it costs a lot less than the other similar links style course I would compare it to ( Ballyowen in NJ) read more
