Beautiful setting and an example of "how the other half lives." Since the weather co-operated, you really could not have asked for a better event from start to finish. Redding is about 30 minutes or so north of Norwalk, the time depending on traffic and weather ... usually you can make it a bit faster. The Norwalk location is a good place to stage people if you are coming out here for a large event, because there isn't much hotel space right in Redding and Norwalk is on a train stop. Norwalk is a bit over an hour from La Guardia Airport. You have easy access to Newark also. The food was delicious and served up quickly ... can't be too definitive here since the food was pre-selected for the wedding dinner. Being a larger event, some of the food didn't arrive as hot as one might like, but all was nicely done and prepared. All in all, this made a lovely wedding site, and since the pair getting married had rented buses, everybody made it back to their hotel in Norwalk. If you are ever out this way, try and find someone who'll get you in the club ... I would love to know how the golf is.

For the price, this is an incredible deal, as this is a fantastic and challenging golf course. The fairways are well-kept and the roof has several cuts each with varying degrees of difficulty. The greens are well manicured and the sand is actually enjoyable to hit out of. The staff was great and very attentive to all of our needs. There's plenty of parking however there is no driving range.

So, for me, a 9 hole, par-3, public golf course where I can play night golf and throw back a few cold bruskis is the perfect place for me. I am not concerned with the quality of the greens, difficulty of the course, depth of the rough, or any of the other things real golf enthusiasts might care about. "Easy" golf courses are challenging enough for me as it is. That being said, Highland Greens is the only lit golf course in the C-T. There's something really cool about playing night golf that makes it more fun (probably because if I suck I can just blame it on the fact that it's too dark). If you're a casual golfer who is looking for a place to go, or if you've always wanted to give it a shot but were afraid of looking stupid, this is the perfect place. And since it'll only run you $13-15 for 9 holes, it won't break the bank either.

I can't believe I'm writing this…read more.. Something big has occurred here within the last four months. Did they change superintendents? Did they start paying the grounds crew a living wage? Did they sprinkle magic fairy dust about the entire property? Whatever happened, what was once the undisputed laughing stock of Connecticut golf is now a genuinely serviceable, pleasantly inexpensive golf experience. Walk the course for $20 after 1PM on a Saturday, or $35 with a cart. Does it get better than that when the golf course you're playing on doesn't make you want to vomit? It's like a different place altogether. The fairways are now covered in actual grass. The greens putt consistently and at a proper speed for amateur golf. The tee boxes are decent, and the sand traps have actual sand in them! Even the two putting greens near the clubhouse are pleasant and well-kept. You may hereby ignore all detailed descriptions from my previous reviews. What are you, and what have you done with Western Hills?
