She has a valid foreign driver license but they check everybody's license. What they don't tell you is valid foreign driver licenses are not allowed for sale even if they are with you and not buying alcohol. Apparently it's corporate policy. Don't waste your time driving there if you fall into that category. I've traveled the world and have used my U.S. license in foreign countries all over. I can't support a business that doesn't reciprocate what the majority of the rest of the world does. It's not about the alcohol but the ethics in my book.

He gave me some excellent advice on a new Bourbon and Tequila to try. I have taken other recommendations from Derek and they have all been awesome. His knowledge of Spirits is pretty impressive. He also gave me some help with finding a hard to find Bourbon Barrel wine. Although they didn't currently have it in stock they ordered a case for me and even gave me 10% off when I picked it up - sweet. I also ordered a couple more hard to find wines from them. They are so friendly and help you with whatever you are looking for. This is my go to place for all my wine and spirits!!!

Why should someone else come in and buy something to flip it when Louies can make that money instead. If someone is willing to pay it, its worth it. They also are very frank in saying if you're a regular customer of theirs and spend money with them they're more apt to talk to you and make sure you're comfortable with the prices. So they have prices for flippers, sippers and regulars. All sounds fair to me when they tell you what's going on and let you decide what you want to do. There are very few places I'm comfortable shopping with and these folks instantly made me feel comfortable. Could I have found slightly better prices, maybe? Could I have found a friendlier and more honest staff, I don't think so. Though I don't live in the area I'm there a few times a year and they'll always be someone I'll visit and spend money with.

My first time there was for a tasting and a tour but I have found myself returning every time I am in Charleston. The staff and owners are very kind and willing to spend time to share their story and answer any questions about Jimmy Red and more broadly spirits in general. They are not just informative about their own story but the bourbon community more broadly. Jimmy Red Bourbon is unlike any other whiskey or bourbon you may eperience in the fact that it is a pure 100% red corn distillate. It has an amazing profile and finish that is as unique as it is delicious. I have visited and revisited a large number of distilleries but I find myself preferably returning to High Wire time and time again due to the qualitiy of their spirits, the ambiance of the distillary, and the experience of sitting and talking about bourbon with a knowlegeble staff. I strongly recommend a visit if you you find yourself visiting Charleston South Carolina.
