Not your typical design, it felt more like stepping into a beautiful conservatory than a funeral home. Lots of light and soaring ceilings, it was one of the best designed buildings I've seen. Is it weird to 1) review a funeral home and 2) give it five stars?…read more When a shocking death occurred in our family, Moore's Funeral Home in Newtown was called upon for the arrangements. The folks running the show couldn't have been been more considerate and forward thinking during this very trying time. They listened to input from and appeased multiple family members while staying true to what the deceased would have appreciated. Their arrangements for the visitation were quite personalized, and the Moore's people were well prepared for the many, many, *many* people this visitation would bring. The line outside the funeral home was *very* long, and people from Moore's walked around asking if people needed anything and generally made sure all was as well as it could be. They had a guestbook to sign outside while in line and even provided lemonade on this extremely hot day. Inside, the same consideration was given. From photos to music to videos, Moore's provided so many ways to show the deceased's personality. And the venue did not feel like a funeral home (if you could see past certain items). There were so many windows and so much light, the home was so open and the decor was so tasteful that it felt very much like someone's house. The funeral itself went smoothly, as well. This was an intimate, family-only affair that began with a short, personalized service at the funeral home and proceeded to a nearby cemetery. Again, the people at Moore's were very gentle when transitioning us from one activity to the next, and they were quite attuned to when they should approach family members and when to give them some private time. Everyone at Moore's was quite kind and considerate to my family, and they certainly made this difficult time a bit more bearable.

He emailed me pictures, delivered a beautiful casket in perfect condtion the next day (at 1/3 the cost of the funeral home's "budget" option, and a nicer one as well), and kept me informed every step of the way. It was such a relief to not have to be worried about being taken to the cleaners while arranging to say goodbye to a loved family member.

The staff…read morewas AMAZING towards both my siblings and myself throughout the entire experience -- especially when we were dealing with issues with people outside of my siblings and myself being disruptive and unhappy about things, (but it was nothing to do with our parents' passing away or the funeral home). I had questions about some things related to my mom's pre-funeral, post-passing away that the staff happily answered for me and they made me feel heard, along with them not rushing me out to handle the funeral that was going on at the same time as us meeting to plan my mom's arrangements. I was extremely appreciative of being heard with my questions by the staff, because it was an extremely stressful time for me with my mom passing away and my husband being extremely ill at the same time. The funeral for my mom in 2023 was very well done and the one for my dad in 2021 was also amazing. I will definitely use Cooper again, if there are any more deaths in the family, because they were amazing towards us. They did right by us and the funeral home was worth using for our funerary needs. I'm writing this review based on the funeral home's communication. I ordered flowers for a family…read moremember's service, but unfortunately, the florist was giving conflicting information regarding delivery. I wanted to make sure I had enough time to place another order if needed, since the service was the following day. I called the number listed for the funeral home and reached a phone service instead of the actual business. I provided my name, the name of the deceased, and my phone number. The representative didn't ask the reason for my call but said a director would return it. Three hours later, I followed up and reached another agent who informed me the funeral home was closed for the day but would still pass along the message. This time, I was able to explain that I was calling about a service happening the next day. It's been 72 hours since I left those messages, and I still haven't received a response. This doesn't sit well, as communication is a major part of service when planning for a loved one. I don't have a good impression of Walker Funeral Home and would not consider using them in the future.

I cannot say enough good things about John Croxton and how much he and his family helped during an extremely difficult time. Each death was sudden and his team was very responsive, great with communication and was able to tend to our families needs. They did a nice job preparing the bodies of my relatives before we had to identify them (required, even with cremation). They have always been very accommodating, even on short notice and during inclement weather (in the middle of a snow storm). I highly recommend their expertise and trust the staff at TP White. They are empathetic and made a difficult process a little easier by handling all the details for us and walking us through each step. The Croxton family is also deeply connected to and invests in the Mt. Washington community and surrounding. They are good stewards and I prefer to spend my money with a local business that genuinely cares.
