After a long day of searching for a campground that met our needs, we found it!…read more We are tent campers so finding a place where you are not on top of each other and don't have to hike a mile into the woods isn't easy. There are a few tent areas and ours was 4 spots, however, they could've put in about 20, so yes, they are huge! We were able to sprawl out and have all the space we could ever need. This campground is on 30 acres. It has a pool, bathhouse, beach volleyball, playground, sandbox, 2 pavilions, and a small farm. The farm has a bunny, 2 miniature horses, a full-sized horse, goats, and 2 pigs. The owners live on the property and are very accessible and friendly. We needed wood for our fire and they have it for sale. They even deliver it to your site. The price is right (compared to Walmart or Lowes where the bundles of wood are tiny and burn so quick that you run thru $100 in a night) Our $20 in wood lasted for 1.5 days, which is good since we like fire! The site was super quiet and it was like a little oasis. Where we were was right by the river, so you can hear the babbling, quite peaceful! We had a bunch of trees that kept the campsite cool during the day. There are some tent spots in the middle of the camper areas, but luckily they put us away from everything! There is another tent area that sits across the brook (cute little bridge to get to that side) and I couldn't count how many spots could go into that area, it's wide open! She immediately makes you feel like a life long friend.We didn't have the RV and horse with with us this trip so we didn't use one of her hookups or the horse paddocks this time but can say they are high quality and clean. We stayed in the lodge itself. Comfortable area to socialize complete with a beautiful handcrafted bar. Our bedroom had a country feel and would be a bargain at 3x the price. However, we didn't spend much time in it as there is so much to do here. It was a very short walk to the main town area. It is like walking on the set of a Western like Gunsmoke complete with Miss Kitty's saloon. There are horses tied to hitching rails and not a motorized vehicle in sight. I don't remember how many riding trails there are. We rode on 2 of them and really had a great time. The horses are absolutely beautiful and well trained. The food is good here but if you need a fancier restaurant, Statesville is just a short drive away. Risto's was our favorite.

Beautiful lake, nice boat ramp and a small beach area. Bath houses are old need to be upgraded but had good hot water. Most of the camping sites are permanent sites. Only ten sites that rent. Any site you that you may rent are all great. Graveled full hook ups and picnic table. A nice tree at every site so you do have some shade. Not far to bathhouses. Will be going back there for a weekend.

This festival is particularly unique in that it celebrates youth performers. We saw so many families armed with fiddles, guitars, dobros, double bases, guitars competing on stages with hundreds of witness there to celebrate their musical gifts. The camp ground has been holding this festival for 95 years and we all should hope they continue to do so for decades longer.

A little super-wholesome and perhaps heavy on the religious tunes for those who are not so inclined, and there is no alcohol served or allowed at this event, but the music was all top-notch. The weekend events include workshops and fiddling competitions in addition to more traditional performances, so check out the schedule on their website beforehand. Wonderful place to while away a few summer hours in the sun while listening to some high-quality down-home country, bluegrass and folk music from bands that resemble today's incarnation of the Carter family, if you can imagine.

The campground itself it very nice and maintained, there could be more amenities for kids to have something to do, since there isn't alot of local attractions nearby to entertain small kids or teenagers. Honestly, never met a better staff and I have stayed in alot of different campgrounds due to traveling for work. Again, just more activities and things for kids like mini golf, splash pads, or anything family oriented really would be the only thing to top off such a wonderful place to stay.

We wanted to spend time hiking in Grayson Highlands & were late to the game on Labor Day weekend & all the camping was booked. After some digging we found this place & it was about 25 mins from the park & an easy drive. If you have ATT there is no service. We lost it about 30 mins before arrival. Our GPS still worked & it was nice to unplug but just a heads up. The important highlights: -Bathrooms are clean & well maintained. -Showers are hot & we never had to wait. -Must pay in cash -Dog friendly. My dog could be offleash & run around. No major roads around & very laidback. -The sights are right by the water so you can hear the creek & the views are nice -each site has a picnic table & firepit. The campsites are pretty close which was hard when 3 carloads with about 15 people showed up & made camp at the site next door. They weren't particularly cognizant of their noise levels & we couldn't sleep until around 11 when I finally went out to ask them to please keep it down. They only stayed one night & that's just par for the course sometimes with camping. The next night was much quieter & we slept great. All in all a great campground. An hourish from Boone & Blowing Rock. Bring supplies in as there aren't any major grocery stores around. Would stay there again if we were in the area.

There's usually firewood and ice for sale at the entrance, and you can hear music drifting up to the tent camping from the RVs down below. We don't plan to camp anywhere else as long as we're attending Merlefest. A word of advice: If you're tent camping, bring your own paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap for the bathroom! For all their strong suits, checking on the bathrooms is not one of them. Soap dispensers were full the whole time, but the soap had ... congealed? in the dispensers and wouldn't come out. Pretty gross. I only saw paper towels in the dispensers once during the 4 nights I was there.

We stumbled across it when we were having a vehicle issue and were, pleasantly surprised to find this little gem. there is solar lighting at your utility pole, garbage cans, every two campsites. It's like they thought of everything. I know I will remember this spot the next time I'm coming down through North Carolina.

There are 12 spacious sites including 4 pull through and 8 back in that back up to the woods. Some have full hookup and some have electric, water. Free Wi-Fi, no cable but we get all local channels with our antenna. Up the hill at office is two bathrooms with shower and a washer/dryer. Average price is only $45 a night and certainly well worth it. It is located about 5 miles from Elkin and right in the middle of winery country. Owners are very friendly and we will be back here for many stays..
