Workmanship 0 : I wouldn't get my Louboutins soles repaired here. I specifically asked to do red sole. He said yes and when I came to pick them up. My $800 pumps looks like $20 fake piece of shit with the ugliest looking black rubber role on the red sole. I wish he asked me b4 ruining my favorite shoes or not did anything. He said he was going to but couldn't find my number and instead went ahead and placed a black rubber sole despite my request not to. It is visible from the back. Price 0: He charges a lot for cheap jobs. He charged me $220 for a few pairs of shoe repairs and none of them were cleaned. He charged $35 to make designer shoes look like fake. Doesn't even look fixable. Essentially lost a few thousand dollars. Service 0 Mr Lin lacks intelligence why people would get their shoes fixed for $35 a pair. Can't comprehend that he should call customers before putting on a black sole when I specifically told him not to put on a black sole on top of the red soles. I wanted to give better rating because Mr. Lin seems like a nice person but his workmanship is poor. Who repairs cheap shoes these days? It is cheaper to buy another pair of cheap shoes. Most people get their shoes repaired if it is worth fixing. He made my designer shoes worth-less. If you have a cheap shoes that has sentimental values, might be ok to go get them repaired by him. So my new UK boots broke after I fell down the stairs. It's only a month old, so I'm not planning to throw it out. What to do... shoe repair! I Googled for shoe repair in Flushing, but the only thing I got was Kim's Shoe Repair. When I got there, it was closed. So I started wandering into other random Chinese mini-malls and I found a sign that's labeled in English "Shoe Repair" right underneath "Key Repair". I went up to Mr. Lin, who was talk in Korean at another customer. I asked if he spoke Cantonese. Nope. English? Nope. Mandarin or Korean. Okay. Let's go with crappy Mandarin and a lot of hand gestures. I showed him my broken heel. He told me that since the heel is hollowed, he'll have cut off the heel and put in a new one, and for the other boot too to match. I didn't want to cut of the other unproblematic boot, but he said that it would be uneven otherwise. He even showed me the material that he was going to use for the new heel. He asked me how much I paid for, and quoted $30 for the repair and told me to come back tomorrow to pick it up. I went back the next day and the shoes... didn't look bad at all. There was a scuff on the back of one of the shoe, but I wasn't sure if I did it in the fall or he did it while repairing. In the end, my boots are repaired! They are just two pieces of rubber that prevent the original soles from being wore out too quickly. For a pair of shoes, it used to cost $15 for the front and the rear soles. This was the worst experience I had trying to repair my shoes! I gave the owner my shoe to repair because it was dented inwards. He accepted my $10 and gave it back to me. At first it seemed fine because he just placed glue on the bottom. But after wearing it for 2 minutes, it started cracking on the inside. I went back to him for him to either fix it or give me a refund. He refused to do both and said that "you young people don't get it, it can't be fixed. You are unreasonable." I feel that he is the unreasonable one that scammed my money. Why would you take my money when you couldn't fix it and just placed glue on the bottom of an empty sole. Lins shoe repair was an interesting experience. Its kind of hard to find because all the signs are in chinese but you go into what looks like a little shop and it ends up this long hallway thats set up like a flee market. You walk down to the very end and theres a lins shoe repair. The man working there was such a sweetie when I went. I had a pair of heels that were just poorly made and the soles fell off. He told me itd be about an hour. When i got back the shoes were fixed so well I even tried to take the sole off again to check and I couldnt get it to budge. He only charged me 10 dollars but I was so impressed and happy I gave him 15. After me insisting he took the cash and smiled and then gave me a bar of soap he said he made himself.
