HIGHLY recommend Rob and the team at Lion K9! Our two dogs have been in training with Lion K9 for about 4 months now, and we could not be happier with our results. We came to Rob with tons of issues, but now we can take our dogs almost anywhere - and often get compliments on how well-behaved they are. Before starting training with Lion K9, our recently adopted 1.5 yr Belgian Malinois, Jax, was extremely reactive around other dogs (barking, pulling, jumping and trying to bite whoever had his leash to get free) - chaos. After one session with Rob, we learned how to correct and manage these behaviors, and now he is a completely different dog. Rob has always been available by phone (call/text) when we have needed extra help, and he always checks in to see if there is anything specific that we want to work on during training sessions and addresses any issues we have had. We very likely would not have been able to handle Jax if it weren't for Rob, and we are incredibly grateful. Our other dog, a very anxious 3 yr GSD/Husky mix, used to be scared of absolutely everything, including her shadow. Her confidence continues to grow with training sessions and homework and we're so proud of her progress. Rob meets every dog and owner where they're at and personalizes his approach to fit individual needs. His approach is very straightforward and easy to understand. Lion K9 is an excellent dog training center. In the past, we had multiple mature dogs in our household who could mentor the new pup so they could follow their lead. However, our Australian labradoodle, Monk, was the exception. When we brought him home, he was our only dog--we could see that his behavior needed some refinement. As a young pup, we excused many of his poor behaviors, but we knew we needed to nip his bad habits. DIY training was challenging, though: Monk would jump on us, mouth our hands, pull, and destroy our clothes. He would never come when called but rather run away. At five months old, we introduced Monk to Rob and his team at Lion K9, and the official training began. Rob knew instantly what needed to be done to get Monk on track. He helped us with basic commands to gain control of this wild little man. Rob is kind, patient, fun, and effective in his ability to train and handle dogs. He meets each dog at their level and works his magic. I truly believe he is a dog whisperer! The training consists of one-on-one and group sessions. I love seeing Monk apply the exercises we learn at each subsequent session. With three months of training under our belt, we've seen a significant improvement in Monk's behavior and his responsiveness to us. We still have a long way to go, but we're positive that as Monk matures out of puppyhood, he (we) will have the skills and knowledge to do anything and go anywhere, confident that he will be a safe and happy family dog. I took my 3 yo lab to Lion K9 and should have done it way sooner. She was wild. No aggression at all, just full of energy. She would jump on everyone, do playful arm nibbles, and anytime she got in trouble she would take off like it was a game. Not the best listener... I had never taken any of my dogs to a trainer and wasn't sure what to expect. I thought I knew a few training tricks and could handle it myself. LOL. Silly of me. The first meeting and evaluation was free, which definitely motivated me to check it out, and before I even left that day, I knew we would be going with Lion K9. I saw a difference in her behavior within the first couple of weeks. Then a couple of months in, something just clicked. She actually started listening. I thought for sure it would take a lot longer, but all of a sudden things got so much better. It was like she finally said, "Okay fine, I'll be good." Rob's training approach is by visual and verbal cues/commands. We have had dogs in the past, yet felt like we were learning how to train a dog for the first time. Rob has simple and effective methods when training any breed of dog. After having a few 1:1 sessions we started going to group sessions with up to 5-6 dogs also training at the same time. Rob has taught us commands to use when around other dogs, when alone with our dog and for crate training. I appreciate Rob's style, and strongly recommend his services. I would be surprised by anyone who did not have a successful experience. His take is train, don't complain, and it's so true. Dogs don't need as much training as we humans. Lastly, Rob has additional support when doing group training, and you can immediately tell how respected he is with his work by his peers. I cannot tell you how amazing Lion K9 training is. Rob truly cares for his "students" and it shows. He takes the time to access your needs and tailors training to meet those needs. My dog is still a puppy and can be a handful - and so strong. Rob shows me how to keep her safe while learning to respond to commands. She LOVES training because he makes it fun. Rob can show her what she needs to do and she thinks he is the BEST. I am one of those dog owners who believe my dog is family. My goal is to keep my puppy safe at all times. That's why training is so important. One of Rob's quotes - "If you're a carpenter and the only tool you have in your toolbox is a hammer, you're not going to be much of a carpenter." That totally spoke to me - to successfully train, it's important not to manhandle your pet - yes, you can get them to go where you want to with a leash, but training is getting them there without a leash if necessary. My wife and I have been training our Shepherd with LionK9 since late last year, so we can give an honest review. Rob of LionK9 runs a professional training/teaching environment that's also stress free. Rob always has the answers to all of our questions and concerns and is also available via the phone as well. Rob truly cares about his clients and their fur buddies. Rob puts out other important information via the "GroupMe" app such as how to perform the Heimlich maneuver on your dog. How to deal with heat stroke and how to avoid it. How hot is too hot to walk your dog. Our Shepherd is being trained in Obedience and Protection. There is no way that I could explain everything that goes into this type of training on this review, but it's important to note that Rob's way of teaching is unique in that what you and your dog learn today will be expanded upon later. Something as simple as "Heel" can be done in multiple ways which you learn as your training progresses. We can't recommend Rob and his team at K9 Lion highly enough! Our border collie mix, Maggie, struggled with pulling, reactivity around other dogs and strangers, and even some aggression toward men. Walking her used to be stressful for everyone. We thought there was little that could be done, since she is already 4 years old, and we had developed lots of bad leash habits. From the very first meeting, Rob assessed our needs as a family and offered practical, easy-to-apply advice. Honestly, even just the tips he gave us during the initial assessment made a huge difference right away. Five stars is not nearly enough for describing the good experience you and your dog will have with Rob. He trained both us and our first dog, Monty, a Golden Retriever with his own mind and unique way of communicating. Now we're back to Rob with our new rescue Golden Pyrenees, Napoleon, who is fearful of most things, asset protective, dog reactive, new to Monty, and very large. We're making great strides with Rob's guidance. We've used other trainers, but none compare to Rob's attitude, approach and techniques. You should know that Rob holds you accountable for your doing your homework with your dog and learning along with your pet. He is kind and supportive and a great communicator, but, he treats you as an adult and has expectations of you as a partner in your dog's training. Also, training with Rob is not 10 lessions and you're done. Rob's agreement with you is based on you and your dog getting results and accomplishing your goals, however long that takes. I highly recommend Lion K9 Dog Training. Rob has the patience of a saint dealing with dogs and their owners, helping them become a team. I brought my 6 month old doodle puppy and myself to Rob.
