Look no further than Eldridge's ATA Tae Kwon Do! The instructors are friendly and care about the students. The students learn at the pace they are able to without feeling rushed or pressured to move up in belt colors. The students learn actual moves that can help them get free if a kidnapper tries to steal them away. They also get to participate in combat tournaments to burn off energy and build confidence. Boys especially need an outlet for their masculine energy and aggression without hurting others. This is the place to do that! Your child will learn respect as well, addressing instructors as Sir or Ma'am and how to politely shake hands with their sparring partners. Class programs are a little expensive, but think about what you would spend on baseball or soccer for your child. And baseball and soccer aren't going to help your child escape a dangerous situation! My boys have been participating in the Gracie bully-proof program since last fall (2015)…read more Cameron(and Kane) are great with the kids. They seem to enjoy what they are doing. The kids are learning and having fun. The place is clean, parking is ample. The classes are small but large enough for all the kids to participate with a partner. What makes this program different from others is the kids are learning to protect themselves without hurting the bully unless they have to which keeps them from getting into trouble with the school. Freuently you'll see the bully and the child trying to defend themselves getting into trouble. That should not be the case here as the kids are learning to subdue and apply pressure (pain) as needed without causing unnecessary harm to the bully. The techniques work with any size. You will often see small kids paired up with.larger kids because size does not matter here. If you can subdue the bully and apply a little pressure on those sensitive spots you get get someone to leave you alone. I cannot speak on the adult classes , however I assume the apply the same the same techniques just more in depth. I have seen fake weapons so I believe he teaches them how to disarm someone if need be. It is also a little gentler on the body than other martial arts.
