One of the best parts? It's located right by the water, so even on hot days there's always a nice breeze to keep things cool. Plus, it's just steps away from the library--super convenient! This past weekend, we attended the Bash at Bishop, which they host every year, and we had an absolute blast. It was the perfect way to kick off summer with bouncy houses, face painting, balloon animals, fun games, hot dogs, snow cones, and cotton candy galore! My little ones were especially excited to check out the fire truck, ambulance, and police car and even a race car! They couldn't stop smiling. There were also prize giveaways, live music, and a band playing to bring the whole community together. And the best part? It's all FREE. Just an incredible event at a park that already checks all the boxes for our family. Even without the event, Bishop Park is a gem we visit regularly. Can't recommend it enough for families looking for a fun, clean, and scenic place to spend the day.

It has a granite memorial wall flanked by two American flags flying high on poles. In front of one of the flag poles is battle field cross replica. The park also feature benches and a covered pavilion, that if you look up, you will find the emblem of the US's 5 uniform services. It does not have a grill or and picnic tables under it, which is understandable. It is a memorial and not a party venue. The park is well maintained and there is parking available in the large lot just off of London Ave. The green area is very nice. There are benches throughout the park to sit and reflect and for added affect, the park has an old cannon on display. This is a marvelous park that should definitely get more buzz. It is an excellent memorial and place to reflect, honoring those soldiers and sailors that paid the ultimate sacrifice. It is surley worth a visit if you are in the area. Never forget.

There's safety town, with a bike path and small buildings that form a small town for the youngins to play. There's a HUGE sandbox, although it sometimes has animal droppings, so enter at your own risk. There is a large assortment of swings, both in quantity and variety. There are the normal swings and baby swings, but they also have the special needs children swings. There is also a large group swing. Off to the side, between the swings and safety town, is a toddler specific playscape. It's perfect for little ones. The main attraction though is the ginormous playscape. And while it's large, my 3 year old happily plays on it for hours, so it's not TOO big. There's probably 6 slides (I can only see 4 from my current spot on the bench), a rope bridge, swing bridge, hideouts underneath, and a variety of ways to climb up. There's also a scavenger hunt and other little activities, if you can keep their focus. There is a lovely splash pad here as well, but it's a separate location on Yelp. There are ample benches around for parents watching their children play. The ground is soft under some turf and there is a good amount of mature trees providing shade from the sun. Lockers are available and there are bathrooms. However, both times I've used the bathrooms, they've been NASTY. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but you get the idea. If you're downriver and have kids, this is a must-stop-spot.

The botanical garden is small, and will take only fifteen minutes to look around. There is also a petting farm next door, but it wasn't open at the time of my visit. Green spaces are so important to the health and happiness of residents, so even though it's small, I appreciated that there was one here. More cities should have parks and botanical gardens like this one. It would be nice to see this garden be expanded someday with more walking paths.

Everything about our trip was good except the planning of the trip…read more It was hard to get information about the zoo. I wish they had a more up to date city page with better info and hours..maybe even a map and a few photos. Entry cost wasn't bad. It's a lot cheaper then a zoo bit also a slot smaller then a zoo too. We saw the farm/zoo cat. They had lots of ducks, some donkeys, a few cows, pigs and goats. And then maybe alpacas? I'm not sure. Very long necks. We went at about 75 degrees. The time was 11ish but they do say the animals are more active when it's cooler out. So 75 degrees should give you an idea. The goats were very friendly. They enjoyed being pet and stood there for a long time for us. One of the pigs came over too. The cat liked being pet but only a certain way. And if you didn't do it. You got a reminder gentle bite, but a bite nonetheless. The cows, alpacas, ducks and donkeys were not interested in coming over. The animals were all fed around noon which was a cool time to be there too. Word if caution, the fence is vinyl. One if the cows got excited it was gonna be fed and bumped into the fence. It bowed so badly, it scared me and I pulled my kiddo back. They are quite powerful.

Younger children won't be able to fully utilize the space as some monkey bars and larger step ladders are the only way to access some of it. The second area is for ages 2-5 it looks like and was actually pretty cool. They had a slide, some musical toys like built in drums, some plastic slide toys and a much smaller climbing ramp. They also have a few swings.
