Great khachapuri, mediocre service, heavily overpriced…read more Our family visited Assaia restaurant in Sep 2024 to celebrate a birthday. Expectations were high based on good reviews, the menu, and the pictures, but unfortunately it turned out to be a 3-star experience :( Good The food was mostly very tasty and delightful. Some dishes were truly delicious (Khachapuri Adjaruli and Megruli, Elarji), others were good with some flaws. See details on each dish at the bottom. The atmosphere and ambience on the patio were nice. Bad We were seated on backyard patio, at metal tables with perforated surface with no table cloth. Later in the evening the oil from khachapuri dripped through the table holes and stained our clothes. Metal chairs were uneven with no pillows. The umbrellas above the tables were shabby with holes on top. I pre-ordered few appetizers and a bread. Appetizers were on the table and there were number of flies sitting on them which immediately made a bad impression. There was no bread and we didn't get it until much later when we were already eating. They didn't have any still or just tap water and no non-sparkling soft drinks except home-made "compote" from feijoa. No juice, no lemonade. One of us had to go out to a grocery store to buy some juice for kids. They only had Georgian mineral sparkling water "Borjomi". I don't mind "Borjomi", but kids won't drink it! For each bottle of Borjomi (small) we got charged $5. The entrees came all at different times so some people were eating and others were watching. At the end we were told there was no dessert available. None. The prices on some dishes were ridiculously high and all prices were substantially higher than ones listed on restaurant's website. The most bizarre prices were on chicken shish kebab of 5 pieces (big) at $20 with no side included, the side of French fries at $10, and pkhali trio (three little rolls of Georgian salads) at $22(!). Food ordered Adjapsandali (eggplant salad) - though looking good it was plain and tasteless. I tried the dish before in many different places and this adjapsandali was by far the worst. Pkhali trio (three little rolls of Georgian salads) - these were good, like you would usually get in a Georgian restaurant. Bazhe (walnut dipping sauce) with Chicken - the bazhe itself (sauce) was delicious and perfect. Chicken was dry, tough, and had a lot of bones. Elarji (Georgian cheese baked with corn flour) - this was excellent and was gone in no time! Best elarji I tried so far! Khachapuri Adjaruli - fresh, perfectly baked, generously filled with cheese - it was scrumptious! Perfect! We had to stir the egg and butter with cheese ourselves though... I would come to this restaurant again despite all the bads just to have this Adjaruli. Khachapuri Megruli - delicious, juicy, with tons of cheese! It was somewhat salty, but I liked it and I believe it's supposed to be like this. Megruli Kharcho - kharcho itself was great with good amount meat. Some meat pieces however were very tough and hardly chewable. We ordered two of this. For some reason one portion had mostly good and tender meat pieces while the second had mostly not chewable ones. Chakapuli (veal with tarragon and herbs) - this one was good and tasty, like you would usually get in a Georgian restaurant. Nothing extraordinary. No side included. Shkmeruli (chicken in white garlic sauce) - the sauce was delicious, but the chicken pieces were so bony there was almost no meat! And the portion itself was tiny (see the picture) though priced at $24. I'm sure it could be done better :( No side included. Khinkali (Georgian dumplings) with lamb - the filling meat and the broth were very tasty and flavorful. The dumplings however were too big and hence had too much dough for the amount of filling in them. Certainly not the best khinkali. Chicken Mtsvadi (shish kebab) - chicken was fresh, tender, and juicy. Our kids loved it! Not including fries or any side with it was shame. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant except just for a perfect khachapuri.

I threw my Husband a surprise 40th birthday party back in November (2018) at the Brooklyn location…read more Everything from set up to tear down was perfect! I had contacted the owner, Nancy to discuss available dates and times and she was VERY helpful and professional. And everything that she promised would be, was! When I arrived to set up, the staff was already there doing their part and let me and my friends do ours without interruption. I was able to hook my iPad up to the sound system for the music, which was great because i saved $$ since i didn't have to get a DJ, i just created a playlist and let it play on! My guests were very pleased with the venue too! Everyone loved how nice it was. The location is clean and very well kept. I also love how there's a separate room for the food and a nice little bar area for the beverages. My husband was super surprised and he too loved the venue. When it came time to clean up, we all did our share and the staff gave me back all of the beverages that weren't opened and anything else that was unused. They were super sweet and helpful throughout the entire party. I saw some of the negative reviews regarding this venue and the owner but I have to honestly say that my experience was the complete opposite!! I would definitely book this venue for a future event and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable venue to hold any event. Nancy & I were in consistent communication with one another leading up to my husbands party and she even contacted me afterwards to see how everything went. I was very pleased and I expressed my gratitude to her. I was truly happy with EVERYTHING!!

PLEASE READ BEFORE CONSIDERING TO CONTRACT ANY OF THE DOLAJ VENUES FOR YOUR SPECIAL EVENTS !!!…read more This place is a JOKE. The claiming owner Nancy pwho's totally unfit to run a business and who is ABHORRENT AND A THIEF should not be allowed to have business in this state. Nancy claims to be a "upfront" person and so on, but reality she's a person who hides behind a phone. She has all sorts of people running her business who don't have no hospitality etiquette and who will provide you with erroneous information. This is just the beginning !!! When you contact Nancy she appears to be very lay back and pleasant but once you start questioning information that is literally not on her manipulated contract she will come at you with a disgusting attitude. This unmannerly lady runs her business from Florida, which complicates things because you can't speak to her face to face. Sadly, there is no one with authority to speak to in person, everything is done through a text or call or even a email which I come to find very sketchy and disrespectful since you're spending a decent amount of money. All she does is messages you regarding the colors of the event and food of choice; if selected and images of what you want the venue to look like. Her social media sells you FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Your event won't look anything like the ones she places on her social media pages. Trust me !!! It won't look nothing like you wanted. Obviously, I didn't research DOLAJ Venues properly (VERY BAD REVIEWS) before making a smart decision. I was totally brainwashed by her pictures and videos that she had sent. I truly regret spending my hard working money towards this place and that's just the beginning of the storm !!! Be prepared to have recycled/used flowers and decorations from previous events that are thrown into the garbage and then taken out to be placed in your centerpieces. That issue was brought to my attention by her own employees. All of it's services are disappointing. Catering is AWFUL. Y'all better of eating Canned food. Cakes was disappointing, dry and small. Restrooms were dirty and smelly somewhat like public restrooms. Nancy definitely edits her contracts at her own convenience to steal money from clients. I'm really not sure, why a place like this is still running. I truly hope consumers affairs and IRS looks into it. All DOLAJ Venues should be considered SCAMS. So Please avoid this place and don't be scammed. To close this review, be AWARE that Nancy exposes clients identifications information online by uploading images of clients IDs onto social media when a client writes a negative review of her venue services. At this point, it is up to your discretion to do service with individuals like this were your information is exposed to the world. Images will be provide. I don't recommend this place at ALL!! Specially to deal with a INCOMPETENT person like Nancy. I'm sure there is other professional venues that would appreciate doing business with you and were you'll be valued and treat with dignity & respect.
