Wow- this turned out AMAZING. my little sister turned 21 on a night where she had prior obligations with her sorority and couldn't celebrate. None of our family live where she goes to college so we thought this would be a unique way to celebrate her. TOTAL hit. Had Philip as Frank Sinatra provide a special birthday wish for my mom tonight at the Red Fox. He was fantastic. Really looks like the young Sinatra and the suit and fedora were perfect. He has a great voice and sang Fly me to the Moon and even got my mom up to dance with him while he sang. Tonight was her 80th birthday and she talked about how fun it was for the rest of the evening. Definite a great thing to do for special occasions. My family is already planning other occasions to use the service. Fantastic experience.

This review is long overdue! Hired them back in 2022 for an engagement proposal singing telegram. This company is amazing. You pick the outfit and the song and they send you someone. The camera guy is someone else contracted with the company. It is easy to sign up on their website, pay and add-on services like guitar accommodation or video recording. Also they do confirm all details in email and then send you a link of rhe video within 24 hours, if you paid for that service. It was awesome. I highly recommend using their services! read more

We ordered a singing telegram for a friend's surprise 60th birthday. From start to finish Lip Service was wonderful to work with! The organization on the office side was exceptional and Chris, our singing lobster, was a huge hit at the celebration! Because it was a surprise party, and the telegram was a surprise as well, Chris had to coordinate his arrival time very carefully with me, which I really appreciated. we had an EXCELLENT experience with Kylie singing as an amazing banana. The lyrics that they put to the song were SO creative and funny and perfect. I used these guys back in 2009 for a Mother's Day singing telegram, and it could not have gone any better. My sister and I requested a good looking guy in a tux for my mom, and we wanted him to sing Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called To Say I Love You" while changing some of the lyrics to get a laugh. We surprised our Pastor after service today for his 60th birthday. He was completely blown away. He loves Show tunes so we tweaked the lyrics of "Tonight" from West Side Story". Our "Elegant Male" was right on time. He has a great voice and did a great presentation. Loved his black sparkly jacket.Moriah (co-owner) was great to work with. Such a fun unforgettable gift. The company I work for has used LSST twice now and both experiences were 5 star! The first time contacting them we had ample lead time and had them create a custom song (which was a giant hit at our office (for an Executive member's b-day). The second time was a last min (same day) request and even though we didn't ask for custom lyrics given the time constraint, they still customized it to fit the recipient. They are professional, quick to respond, easy to work with and very reasonably priced, even when paying the rush and out of area service fees. I work with people/clients that have everything they need and/or we don't know well, but still need to make an impression and this hits the mark. Our company is VERY picking about marketing, presentation and value, so we're not going to love something just because it's gimmicky. I was initially worried a singing telegram would be too tacky or cheesy of a gift, but they are not half assing their service. OMG!! This is one of the best gifts ever!! Lip Service is such an awesome gift for your loved one! I wanted to do something special for my mom's 70th birthday. Since she lost my dad to cancer in 2016, she has lost her joy and threw herself into the business she and my dad built since 1993, running it solo since. She has been struggling. Then I came up with the idea of a singing telegram. I live in Virginia so I did my homework on Google and Yelp and read all the reviews. LSST had the best recommendations - and I whole heartedly agree. I sent a request 3 days prior to the big day and Moriah got it done! I requested a performer in a chicken costume to sing "birthday" by the Beatles. My mom loved it! Not only her, but her workers, all the clients as well as the random passersby that stop for the performance. She called me laughing with so much joy and said it was the best gift. From the booking process up until the singer left we had a very pleasant experience. The team is incredibly professional and fun to work with. The singer was absolutely fantastic and I can not believe how cool it was to see Old Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra) sing "You Make Me Feel So Young" to one of our senior clients. We so appreciated the wonderful singing telegram for our daughter in celebration of her last chemotherapy infusion. She was serenaded by a compassionate doctor with a beautiful voice, who sang acapella in the style of Noel Reid from Schitt's Creek, that she was Simply the Best. It remained closed until 2008 where it was restored and now it full of performances from comedy shows, plays and music. On this first time visit I came here to see Bobby Lee's stand up performance. Our seats were in the balcony level way above. At this level it is a little diffcult to see the stage as you have to angle your head down wards to see the stage. Viewable but its very far. The seats are very tiny and it difficult to walk across as every inch is used up in the theatre. Acoustic were great and the overall detail and restoration is amazing to look at. Great theatre venue overall but would recommend not sitting in balcony.

The performance was wonderful and the voices of the cast were absolutely beautiful. The theater itself is large and you can see very well. I'm not very tall and even though people were seated in front of me I had a perfect view of the stage. The seats are comfortable and the ushers are very helpful. I believe there are concession stands on every floor as well as bars where you can get soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. The concessions are quite expensive but you expect that when you're at a theater of any kind. Very easy to find parking in the area. There is a large parking structure right next to the Civic Center as well as different parking lots where you can easily just park and walk across the street to the theater. The only rule that I have seen is that you do not bring in a bag that is larger than 12 in by 12 in. You go through a back check and walk through a metal detector but that's pretty common for any type of concert as well. Inside is very comfortable and I always enjoy coming here for a performance.

This being downtown San Diego of course you need to plan ahead for parking, but there are plenty of Lots nearby and walking distance, one of them that leads right into the parking lot of the theater. One of the positive aspects of being downtown is that you have plenty of options for dinner before or after the show. Of course you may want to make reservations ahead. They always offer concessions, of different alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as little charcuterie board type items, and candy, Etc. Of course just like any other venue of this type, it is priced above what you would normally pay for those items. I always try to sit in the orchestra section because I feel there is more leg room, and I hate to feel cramped. The seats also seem a bit more comfortable in that section. I will say I honestly don't think you could have a bad seat in this theater though. The sound is usually fine, but I will say for Moulin Rouge I had trouble hearing what they were saying especially during the songs. I love that everyone is always so helpful when trying to find your seat, they will walk you to your section and show you exactly where you need to go, which is nice because it can get chaotic with so many people ushering in. Overall this is a great location and the shows they have are amazing. Definitely reccomend looking at the season and seeing what they have to offer, they're is usually something for everyone

While the balcony seats at the downtown Civic Theatre might leave you squinting at tiny figures at premium prices, here I felt like I was practically part of the show regardless of where I sat. And at these super reasonable prices? It's almost criminal how much value you're getting. Walking into their production of "Hello, Dolly!" I was immediately struck by how the modest stage might compare to larger Broadway venues. This is a place where size absolutely doesn't matter here. The creative team masterfully used every square inch of that space, with choreography that had me wondering how they fit so much spectacular dancing into such a cozy setting. Those dancers deserve medals for their spatial awareness alone! What truly sets SDMT apart is the caliber of talent they attract. This isn't just "good for local theater"--these are performers who deliver professional-quality entertainment that had me smiling from the opening number to the final bow. The acting was so engaging that I completely forgot there wasn't a traditional orchestra. Did I miss it? Not for a second. The performers commanded the space so completely that any potential limitations simply vanished. While here are no actual curtains, it didn't detract from the experience, this adds to the intimate, immersive quality that makes this theater special. You're not just watching a show, you're part of its world from the moment you take your seat. For North County residents, this place is a revelation. The easy drive and FREE parking situation (though come early, as spaces are limited and you might need to street park) makes this infinitely more accessible than the downtown venue. The productions have always been very entertaining and well-produced, the caliber of actors is very high, and tickets are reasonable. I once made a dumb mistake--showed up on the wrong night, but the friendly person in the box office helped me avoid spoiling date night by exchanging my tickets from that night's performance. CONs Many shows don't sell out, so you may be disappointed if you're expecting a packed theatre. Personally, it's never bothered me and the audience has always been enthusiastic. We honestly didn't get much time inside the theater itself; the panel was an hour long, and they ran a tight ship. But, I will say that I loved the feel of the space. It's a smaller, more intimate theater than some of the other performance spaces downtown, and it doesn't seem like they have a "bad seat" in the house, just based on the layout. The acoustics were good so that we were able to hear all the women on the panel, even if they weren't so good at using the microphones. The seats were comfortable, and there was enough leg room for people to scoot by to seats in the middle of the row without having to step, trip or stumble over those who were already seated. All in all, I liked the space a lot, and am now trying to figure out when we can visit for an actual performance (not that I didn't love the panel, but theaters are made for performing arts, and I so want to see a show here!)

This place specializes in a…read morelot of original plays, and if you got a season pass, you're in for a treat, a lot of local SD artists performed here, you never known whom you ran into because some of them had moved from theater to Hollywood movies. The last play I saw was Viet Gone, and the first play since COVID was The Great Khan which I got a pleasure to attend. If you enjoy performing arts, come and see it for yourself. I wish I could take some shots during the performance, but it was strictly prohibited. The facility was designed very unique, you get to walk down and even further deeper down to reach the main stage, yet everything else got pretty well maintained except for the construction next door right now, I really don't know what they're going to do with the old Horton Plaza, although it was dearly missed. Parking was easy, some meters are expired after 6 PM, if you don't mind walking a few blocks like me, some expired at 8 PM, then you might have to put in a few bucks, but that's downtown for you, I think everyone else would rather pay valet and enjoy their sit down during the show, am I right?

I've come here regularly over the last 10 years or so and have seen amazing comics such as Mark Christopher Lawrence, Jerrod Carmichael, Anjelah Johnson, Cheeto Santino, Jonny Loquasto, Michael Kosta, Melissa Villaseñor, Alonzo Bodden, Shawn Pelofsky, Tony Baker, Adam Ray, Jesse Egan, Zoltan Kaszas, Mal Hall, and so many more! I've been wanting to check out another show with him for awhile so I was excited when I saw The Gaslamp Comedy Show featured on his Instagram. We had a rotating group of fresh, upcoming comedians who were working out their material. We were an intimate group and it was a different experience watching them quickly pivot or adjust based on how the crowd was interacting with the jokes. 5/5, we'll definitely be back.

Based on the name, I thought it would be more open air and exposed to the elements, but the setup was cozier and more sheltered than I anticipated. They have a selection of snacks and beverages available, which was nice, although I do wish they were able to sell alcohol. A beer or glass of wine would have been a great addition to the experience. Overall, it was a unique and enjoyable night out. The atmosphere was great, the movie selection was fun, and I'd definitely go back for another showing.

Each visit (three separate occasions), something I've ordered was either forgotten or brought out very late. On this particular visit (Fri, July 3rd), I went to see a movie for my birthday. Unfortunately, due to public transportation, I was unable to make it to the theater as early as I wanted. My movie started @ 1:30, but I didn't make it inside until about 1:40 or so. The trailers were still playing, but the lights were off inside and the other guests seemed to already have their food/drinks. So, I attribute some of the mishap to that. However, there were less than ten people in the theater. So, keep that in mind as well. I ordered poke nachos, a popcorn, and a soda. Pretty simple order, right? My "host" brought out the popcorn + drink pretty swiftly. The popcorn tasted stale, just like another time I'd visited. Even though I'm pretty sure their 1:30 movies are their first showing. About halfway through the movie, I pressed the call button because I still hadn't received my nachos. The host said, "They might be ready now. Let me check." Translation: "I forgot them." That was pretty annoying. Especially as this is the third time something like this has occurred at The Lot. And I've only been three times in total. Luckily, the popcorn was free because it was my birthday, which I had to remind the host twice before he tried charging me. Do not order it unless you enjoy stale popcorn. The nachos and ginger ale were tasty, though. Overall, the vibe/setup is nice for viewing films. I only which the service and attention to detail was better.

Well, now. I used Lip Service twice. And it was great! The first time, we were having a retirement luncheon at Nick's at the Pier in Ocean Beach. Lip Service sent a guy over dressed up as a keystone cop and he sang Toby Keith's song, "Beer for my horses!". I won't say which employer this was for. But everyone there was in some way connected with law enforcement. And that was a great "law enforcement" song...... He even got the audience singing too. It was very tastefully done, and I was so impressed at the service, that I decided to hire Lip Service again. So that second time came around when the American Legion held a really big conference (a Southern California Chili Cookoff in Brawley, CA). Lip Service sent a very talented actor out all the way to Brawley! He paraded through the Chili Cookoff dressed as a 6-Foot Lobster, and he sang "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". It was hilarious! At the time, I was running a membership recruiting competition with another Legionnaire up in Newport. The loser had to ROW A BOAT out to a bouy in the harbor and back. And no one will ever forget the 6-foot, singing lobster. We do a family atmosphere at Legion events, and Lip Service was loved by all the kids! The price is right for what they provide. And you can't go wrong with these folks. Many are professional actors and actresses who have done movies, Broadway hits and Vegas Shows. I'm saving up my money because I want to hire Lip Service for another event......! read more

5/5 My wife and I sent an "Elegant Male" to sing Tom Jones' "She's a Lady" to my grandmother on her 80th birthday. Although we were out of town, we watched the video. Needless to say, he was elegant, energetic, and fun. He belted out "Oh, whoa, whoa, she's a lady" with so much gusto that Tom Jones himself would have swooned. Almost a week has gone by and my family is still talking about it, laughing, and saying how nice the guy was. Lip Service served us well: They were prompt with their email responses, answered our questions, and responsive to special requests, for example, they picked up flowers (that we paid for) on the way to deliver the telegram. Even during the pandemic, these guys came through for us! We sent a telegram for our dad's 75th birthday since we all couldn't be there to celebrate with him and it was PERFECT! Moriah was really helpful in getting us exactly what we needed and even on short notice. The singer came to perform for our dad and even created personalized lyrics for his favorite songs! It was really hot that day but the performer arrived in a tux and did a gorgeous job with 'O Sole Mio' and 'That's Amore'. Thank you again for making this birthday even more memorable! read more
