We had an awesome time here on our way to the local theater. The food is not your typical bar food -- we had some of the best quesadillas we've ever had and some insane loaded French fries. We went to Lippi's on July 5th and were delighted with the service and the food. We shared the chicken barbecue French fries nacho and I was very happy with the pulled pork quesadilla. The restaurant had been closed for a while and we were so happy to have it back. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were more than adequate. The waitress was accommodating and pleasant. We will be sure to go back. The barbecue is made on site and is tasty moist and delicious. I've never had better in this area. read more

I've been calling this place for roughly 3 hours today (Sunday) because it says they are open today until midnight. Not once has anyone answered the phone. They have a recording to leave a message, but of course, their messages are full and cannot accept any new ones. C'mon, get it together. I just want to know if you're actually open or not and if you're serving food. read more

Great food, even better service! The restaurant is comfortable and spacious with a modern country vibe, lots of wood and stone. Everything is exceptionally clean as well. We ordered specials that were very tasty and arrived promptly. I would've given 5/5 but the steak was over cooked. I ordered medium rare and got medium well. But the meat still had great flavor so it didn't ruin the meal. I'd highly recommend a visit, and we will certainly be returning (they have really great hours too, lots in Greene closes on a Sunday night). One note for mgmt: the menu lists garlic mashed potatoes as an option but they said they don't offer that when I asked what potatoes options were available. read more

It had been a couple of years since I had made the trek back to the home town. As luck would have it, my cousin scheduled her wedding for the same weekend as the Falcons home opener. While I am a huge fan and season ticket holder, I could not forgo the wedding. I just knew that in between visiting family I *needed* to catch a few minutes of the game. Luckily, I follow a couple of pages on FB that post goings-on around Greene, so I heard about this new sports bar opening recently. I decided we should check it out and see if they would put on the Falcons game for us. We rolled in on a Sunday just before 1. The place is really, really nice. They did a great job with the decor and stuff. The owner (I think?) noticed my Falcons jersey and put the game on a big TV for us, while the bartender got us a couple of beers. I had an Angry Orchard; hubs had something on draft. They have a bunch of great specials on drinks during football games. We didn't eat as we had just finished brunch at the Silo. Perhaps the best part was that I didn't get that vibe I have gotten in other establishments around town on previous visits. I usually get stared at hardcore, like a total outsider (I've been gone for 15+ years). Here, the staff and patrons were all super friendly. We will totally be back on our next trip to good ol' Greene, and you should stop in, too! read more

Looking for a gathering place somewhat halfway between Ithaca and Cobleskill, we settled on Greene and began to explore venues. It was surprising just how many restaurants the good residents of Greene support. One member of our group asked around and heard buzzings of Lippy's so I Yelped it, found its five-star rating and was further directed to its very active Facebook page. Lots and lots of pictures depicted a multi-aged clientele enjoying live music and eating a variety of appetizers, burgers, lunch-type entrees and a nice selection of dinner items. The reviews were positive so we met there for lunch today. The bar is in the center of a newly pine-paneled rectangular room. The space to the left was set for a party of about thirty that was scheduled to arrive at 3. The right side was set for dining and a Multi-generational family of 8 was at one table (very well-behaved toddlers) and a group of fifty-somethings at the other. Paul, the bartender, had seen my Australian Shepard being walked and spoke of his two Aussies. Very cordial way to welcome a stranger. The menu had a really nice assortment and after some hemming and hawing, we settled on a Reuben, Spiedie Ciabatta, Haddock Sandwich and an All American Cheeseburger. All were large portions and came with very good fries and a crisp pickle spear. With 3 root beers and one wine, the total was $50 plus tip. NO signs directing you to wait to be seated. Manager took drink and appetizer order after scolding us for seating yourselves. Waited over an hour and not even the soups we ordered came out. It was obvious that our order was never input . When we said we had waited enough, the manager handed us our bar bill and asked that we not give him a bad review. Sadly this place is convienent but we will never go back. Staff and management are lacking experience and knowledge of customer service. TWO THUMBS DOWN!!!!! Stay away. read more

This place is like an oasis in the desert when you are a city slicker. It is off the beaten trail in the woods yet has a modern-country, homey feel, and clean too! If you like french fries that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside these are the best. Some of the best French onion soup I've eaten and their extra crispy chicken wings kick ass. With TVs everywhere, friendly staff, and cold beer it's the perfect place to hang on a Saturday watching football or a Friday night playing pool. read more

Best bar in Greene New York. They always have unique beers on tap from Omagan or lake placid. The food is awesome and great bartenders.

We have been customers of Lippy's for some time. However it has been several months since our last visit. This visit will probably be the last. We walk in at around 1pm and the waiter/bartender and the cook are playing pool with 3-4 customers. The waiter did approach us quickly as we sat down. After placing our order, the cook went to the kitchen to begin cooking our order. He emerged from the kitchen to continue playing pool with the waiter and the customers from the bar. While playing pool, he obviously was suffering from a cold, or it could have been the fact that the temperature in the restaurant was so cold his nose was running. Let's hope he was washing his hands. Let's talk about the environment and the food. I already mentioned the temperature of the restaurant. As we were eating, 5 more customers came in. They were complaining about how cold the restaurant was and ALL put their winter coats back on. We already had ours on. The floors were dirty and sticky which could be expected at the end of the night, not at 1pm when opening at noon. The food in the past was really good. We always ordered the same thing, the cheese steak with fries. The cheesesteak was always the standard I used for other restaurants. They used real beef with au jus, fresh onions and peppers, and melted cheese. I was excellent. Not any more. Very generic, onion peels included, and cheese not melted. Overall, unprofessional environment and the food mediocre at best. I hope they can get back to where they were. read more

I waited until after my second visit to write this review. My wife, 8 year old daughter and I have visited Lippy's twice now for dinner and both visits were excellent. I wanted to make sure our first visit wasn't a flash in the pan. Both waitresses we had were friendly, attentive and knowledgable. The atmosphere is neat, clean, friendly and inviting. I heard about this place from a few different people but was apprehensive about taking my wife and daughter to a "sports bar" off the beaten trail. I couldn't have been more incorrect with my fears. Yes, it's off the beaten trail, but that's what adds to warm atmosphere. It's a diamond in the rough. Plenty of tv's to watch sports. All the food we had on both visits was delicious. Burgers, salads, wings, spiedies and my personal favorite - the French onion soup!! I can't wait to go back. Looking forward to seeing a band here one of these weekend nights too. read more
