I ordered wings and my girlfriend ordered a burger. My wings were good, however her burger was a little too pink for her liking. We enjoyed the vibe of the place. For food I got the eggplant rollatini and a starter of house made potato chips. The place was about 1/2 full. The chips were tasty and crisp. A large portion. The rollatini was preceded by an unremarkable salad. The rollatini was huge. I was unable to find much eggplant in there it was mostly cheese and sauce. It was good enough and filling. Unfortunately, our dinner at Central City was far from pleasing. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and received a bland, tasteless, and rubbery platter of it. For dinner, my arugula wrap was disappointing, and I mean to the point where I just couldn't eat it. The "avacado" inside, which was NOT avacado, was thick, firm slices of tasteless texture. Avacado is supposed to be soft and easily mushed, not frozen in strange diced formation. The chips were equally disappointing. Not a pleasant crunch, and the overwhelming spices on top left a bad taste in the mouth. The service was okay. I didn't enjoy hearing the waitresses loudly gossip by the kitchen, though. It's a shame because some of our friends love Central City. As for us, this experience leads me to believe that we won't be back. read more

Simply stated, this place got me through most of grad school. A perfect hangout spot if you aren't into the typical Cortland bar scene. The staff have always been really good to me and always make sure Penguins games are on the TV when I'm there. Lots of different beers on draft, their pasta and wing nights are great, and I really appreciate that they have good vegetarian options. Very disappointed in the service at Central city tonight. Got there about 6:15 was seated outside. About 10 mins later Terry took our drink order. Ten more minutes and another waitress asked if we have been waited on and we said yes put a drink order in but haven't hit it yet. Finally got our drink which was a draft with an orange slice and a bottle beer. No orange slice. Said she would get it. 10 more mins I went to the bar and got my own orange slice. Order salad with extra dressing. Nope no extra dressing. Food was very good but not the service. Finally got the bill and she added a desert amount which we didn't order. Took another 5 mins to get the correct amount on my bill. It was an early birthday dinner for my grandson who lives out of state. Was suppose to be special and it sucked. When it's bad, you wait 20 minutes for someone to take your order until the bar tender comes over and finally takes it for you, and then another hour for your sadly *cold* soup and salad to arrive. I really like Central City Bar and Grill. Please keep in mind that it is a bar, so yes, the tables are too close together and sticky at times. However, the food is much better than I would have expected. I have eaten here a few times and enjoyed each of the items I have tried.
