My Best Friend decided that she wanted to come here for her birthday. i made the reservation which can be a difficult process because they are only open at a certain time and they only take reservation on certain days. But non the less I got the reservation There was a mix up with our table as they thought that I had a party of 2 instead of party of 3 even though they called and confirmed 3 a few days before we arrived. We did the dinner and show package. We had the Angel LeBare which is the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo and the Vivan Dejour which is Lobster Ravioli for our entree. My best friend and i both had the Angel LeBare and both thought it was okay but noticed that it had nutmeg in it and that made it a little odd. Her cousin had the Vivan Dejour and thought it was really good. The show was amazing especially since it was my first drag show and it won't be my last. My friends and I were thinking of organizing a high tea, but instead we went to the most wonderful brunch at Lips. It is the most entertaining drag show. The food is delicious. The waitresses are also performers. They make you feel so welcome as waitresses and then entertain you to the max as performers. Our waitress was sapphire blue. She was hilarious. Obviously, she meets no strangers because after our experience, we felt like friends. it was so entertaining!!! My very first drag show was a blast! The place was gorgeous and decked with jewels and sparkles everywhere. The girls did so amazing and the host was hilarious. My favorite was Demi, when I say she put on a show she showed out! The only thing I can say could be better is the food, I had the salmon & rice. The salmon was okay, didn't too much like the right. I went to Lips for NYE and had a blast. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Christmas and New Year's. The food was so great . It was a special three course NYE menu. First of all, the place - absolutely stunning! Disco balls, chandeliers, sparkly curtains. Music selection was chef's kiss, and they even play the music videos on a giant projector screen. Have never been to a drag show so I wanted to check it out. I made reservations for the Sunday drag brunch two weeks in advance by calling as they don't have online reservations. For $34.95 you get an entree, bottomless cocktails, and a show which seems like a good deal. Mimosas (2/5): these came pre-mixed and barely had any champagne, I would suggest choosing the champagne option and then asking for OJ on the side to choose your own mimosa ratio. Chicken Club (4/5): my sister enjoyed her sandwich and fries, her dish came out piping hot. Chicken Vodka Rigatoni (3/5): the flavor was good but my dish came out cold the first time so I asked them to just microwave it but they brought out a new dish for me which was also cold. I prefer my food hot so I didn't enjoy it very much and didn't want to ask for it to be reheated again since it didn't work the first time. Overall the show was fun for the most part and had about 7-8 performers, some of them really put on a show and went all out and some just walked around and lip-synced. I would suggest you bring dollar bills so you can tip each performer as I wish I had brought more cash. It would have been nice to be able to add additional tip on the bill for those who don't feel comfortable handling cash during COVID. They do add an automatic 20% gratuity. read more

My problem with this place is the service. My hesitation with leaving one star is that I saw other tables around me having great service. The show and performances are great! Our experience as far as service goes, abysmal. We waited so long for drinks. The brunch is promoted as bottomless and they told us (a party of 8) that they were out of champagne. The place was no where near full. We maybe had 7 bottles between all of us in a span of 2 hours. Also it was our friends birthday and our server considerably less enthusiastic as the other servers. At the end of the day, go there have fun experience it. I just hope you don't have our server. read more

I went to Lips the night of their holiday spectacular, and it was packed!! A good time was had by all. I loved Angel LeBare who was funny, beautiful, and entertaining. Our server was Jerfay (I may be spelling that wrong) who was also entertaining. The cocktails were yummy and they don't skimp on the booze!! I had the almondine fish, which came with green beans and rice. It was good. But the gorgeous sparkling room (plenty of mirror balls!) and the entertainment are worth going. The only gripe is the location. You definitely have to make an evening of driving to an area a block away from McCormick Center. I came here with my friends to celebrate my birthday last night. We had a great time. The performances were entertaining and the service was very attentive. We did the dinner and show package which was ~$40 per person. They have several entree options. We ordered penna vodka, shrimp fettuccine alfredo, and salmon. Drinks were not included, but they are 100% worth getting. The frozen drinks were so delicious. They had an extensive selection of cocktails, wine, and beer as well. Tips: 1) Make sure to bring extra cash to tip during performances. 2) Be aware that they automatically add a 20% gratuity to the bill at the end and that they won't do split checks. They will take up to four cards for payment -so you can arrange to split amongst yourselves that way. 3) ATMs and bathrooms are upstairs. I must say, this was my first time at a show like this. So let's get into the review Food: you don't expect the food to be amazing when the price is bundled in with the cost of admission. Lips is the exception to this. I had the burger and fries and must say that I found it more delicious than let's say a small cheval. My partner had the chicken, mashed potato's and spinach which were equally delicious. Tasted a shrimp appetizer and I was blown away. Food here is amazing I wish they offered take out. Drinks: I like strong drinks, so most of the time I'm disappointed because my drink is either to strong or to light on alcohol. This place had perfect drinks, the lips tea is phenomenal and don't forget to get one of the "hormone" shots. All fire! If you like strong drinks that taste good. Lips is the place for you. Awesome night! On-street parking was available, but there were no parks even though we arrived early for the show. We ended up parking in the adjacent parking lot to the tune of $25 per car. First tip, carpool. 2nd tip, ladies avoid heels; the parking lot is not adequately paved & on this night was very wet. Watch your step! As mentioned, we arrived early at approximately 6:45 pm, the doors to the venue were not open & so we all had to line up & wait in the cold weather. 3rd tip is to arrive fashionably late during inclement weather to avoid this mishap. Others informed us that this is standard practice; the doors are not opened until the scheduled time. Be prepared! At 7 pm, the doors were opened & we began to file into the venue. Marvelous honey! Anyone who walks into this room & isn't smiling should head for the bar immediately & grab one of the shots to loosen up! Jemma was our bartender tonight & served us well. Once seated, the entertainment began; the ladies who tended to us were hilarious & got the night rolling. Food was served promptly & the music was great while we dined. This was a great way to get everyone excited for the acts. Thank you, Yelpers, for the tip on the ATM. My cash was on hand for the server who brought out singles for everyone. The show was none stop ENERGY! Everyone brought their A-game. There was a birthday shout-out, with a seat on the throne, for all the birthdays in the house. It was a Wednesday night, so we played Bitchy Bingo. A hilarious take on Bingo brought to you by the Hostess. The food that was served was good but nothing to rave about. My cousin was having a bday celebration here, so I was excited to celebrate. Parking was difficult. It's a really congested area and you should probably use Spot Hero to find a good rate nearby. Our party was seated immediately and the ambiance is aesthetically eye catching - vibrant colors, high ceilings, etc. The performances were ok. The food was pretty good. It was nice that those celebrating birthdays, getting married, etc. we're invited to the stage and received a free picture. The biggest challenge is that they only give tables one bill that isn't itemized. So in our case, some folks ordered appetizers...some didn't; some folks ordered drinks...some didn't; and so forth - but there was no way to easily know how much everyone was responsible for and the tab was pretty high. Would be much better to have the option for individual bills or at least provide an itemized one. For the ultimate price we paid - I'd probably recommend another place to celebrate when you are with a large group. read more

Well we had a party of 40 or more on Saturday Feb 18 at two separate tables. It was a birthday celebration, and a real nightmare. We were told when we made the reservations 3 months prior. That there would be two separate checks. One for the dinner. And one for the drinks. The dinner check had to be paid for but credit or debit card only. But the drink check could be paid for by cash. Before placing our drink order. Our server was busy telling us that they were only person and be patient with them taking our order. So some guest ordered at the bar. The reminder of the orders were placed with our server. Well the server return to tell us that there were no more leggs (the specialty drink). So we needed to order something else. Drinks came a half hour later. Another half hour goes by them the server returns to take our dinner order, The server again returns a half hour later to tell us that anyone who order salmon would be SOL. And we needed to order something else. By that time some of the people who want salmon didn't want anything on the menu. We were told that there would still be a $25 change added to the bill just for the show. Food comes during the show, Salad was wilted, food was cold and dry. And it taste terrible. Finally, we get the check. There was a deposit placed before our arrival that was not deducted from the either check. We were told that the drink check could be paid by cash, That didn't happen. It needed to paid for with a credit or debit card. On the food check it included the full cost for the 2 dinners that were not eaten or ordered. Finally the bathroom was a mess and unsanitary. As far as the show. I've seen better. So i guess we are real bit... Next time we will try the other drag show location that's been in town for over 30 years. Maybe they have more class. We had a fantastic evening for a bachelorette party at LIPS and I can't wait to come back for another occasion. The meal was delicious- starts with a Caesar salad, then you pick an entree (steak frites and the burger were most popular at our table), and ended with a cupcake of sorts- the only part that wasn't excellent. I had the signature cocktail which is a frozen cosmo and it was delicious. During Covid-19 I'm not sure this is the safest place as there was no masking and no distancing- but if you are willing to take the risk it is a blast. The girls are servers and performers and really make the show come alive. If you are there for a birthday or bachelorette you do get some one on one attention- but otherwise they just perform all over the space and you get to enjoy their amazing work! Lips was an absolute blast. Went with a group to celebrate a birthday for Sunday brunch, and the entire atmosphere was incredibly colorful, joyful, and gay. Our waitresses were also the drag performers, and they delivered superb service and performances. Ours was Veronica and she was 10/10. They are generous with the unlimited drinks and the food was wonderful as well. I had the chefs special (steak sandwich) and my husband had the beyond burger. Both dishes were great. They also serve the food before the show, which is great so we can eat prior to the beginning of the performances. I attended the Gospel Brunch today hosted by Mz Ruff N Stuff and I had an awesome time! Ruffy is the hostess with the mostest for sure! I laughed, I sang and I drank my unlimited mimosas. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my wife had the burger. From my experience the burger was pretty tasty, the chicken and waffles need a tad bit more work. She has never seen a drag show before. I was surprised to see some of the performers from the Baton Show Lounge. It was good seeing them again! These performers are awesome! There were also performers, that I have never seen before and they were great as well! Now, the food! Oh my God! The chicken and waffles...Make you wanna smack your mama! The chicken was so seasoned & juicy and the waffles were so moist and tasty! And the shrimp and grits! The chef must be from New Orleans! It was so good! We went to the gospel brunch on Sunday, The venue was beautiful with lots of bling and color. Huge chandeliers and sparkles throughout. The show was energetic and fun and contagious. The food was mediocre for the price we paid. Very salty and someone bland. Everything was going fine until the end of the night when we all submitted our credit cards for payment and we didn't receive our checks for almost a half hour later, despite multiple requests. I'm not sure what happened but our waitress seemed indifferent to the delay.
