Matcha Latte and Salted Caramel Latte
    Lauren M.

This little tea house is super cute! We ordered the matcha and salted caramel latte. I gave 4 stars because the matcha was so sweet that it was really hard to drink. We ordered the Mexican bagel and turkey pesto sandwich and both were phenomenal!

The customer service was the best! Very attentive and they got the order right!! It's a beautiful authentic place with lots of art. The food was tasty and presented well.

Food was pretty good, drinks were on the sweet side (I loved but my friend did not so really up to your preference). I got the Nutella crepe and it was great with the vanilla ice cream. The panini was also great. The art inside and outside the building is incredible.

Horchata coffee was way too sweet in my opinion, crepe was great though the nuts added a very nice touch! Service was great, workers were nice and overall good quality. The coffee shop was cute and good looking authentic mexican decorations were a beautiful addition.

La malinche is one of my favorite coffee shops in pilsen. Their drinks are wonderful and on top of that, they have my favorite cafe de olla. The decor is very warm and the staff is always super nice to me whenever i go. Haven't tried their food items yet but their chilaquiles smell amazing every time.

Sara is a delightful host who cheerfully explained the menu's many offerings. The bagels were fresh, cheese danishes tasty, & Cafe de Olle (Olla?) beyond compare! I highly recommend La Malinche for its warm environment, delish foods, reasonable prices, and tasty coffees. It is a refreshing change from cookie-cutter coffee shops and corporate environments. It is easy to reach on CTA #8 and there is a Divvy stand directly in front. Thank you, La Malinche! :-) Sincerely, Patrick Shaughnessy Chicago, IL

This is a great spot to work or study while enjoying coffee and food. I noticed they have a printer available, which is super convenient--especially when you need to print something out real quick. The decor inside is really cool and creates a nice atmosphere. I ordered the cajeta latte and it was great! I'll definitely be coming back to try the food sometime.

I decided to try something new today... I'm a big fan of Cafe de Olle, and I saw they had this on their menu, so I decided to stop in. The place is super cute and colorful. Although it's tiny, they have some good seating options. I love finding a comfortable table near a window so I can people watch and if it's raining, that's a bonus! They had upbeat music playing.. a little too loud for my taste. And the coffee shop was full, which is always a good sign! You order your food and drink at the counter and you are given a number and allowed to seat yourself. When your order is ready they bring it to your table. I noticed that people sitting next to me were drinking coffee out of very ornate coffee mugs and those are the small details that I really love about coffee shops. However, when I received my coffee, it was in a to-go cup even though they knew I was dining in. I noticed that when they brought coffee out to another group, they were in the coffee mugs as well. Not sure what that was about, but I was disappointed that I didn't get the aesthetically pleasing coffee mug. I was disappointed with the Cafe de Olle. I understand that people make them differently, but it was very cinnamon forward, which is not my preference. I also ordered the Chillequilles. Very disappointing. I also know that this is made many different ways. Initially I said I didn't want egg and avocado which were an additional cost but when I got it it was literally tortilla chips sauce and cheese. There were also a few slices of red onion. I ended up going back to the counter and ordering some avocado to add to it, but very disappointed. If I go back to this place, it will only be for the cozy seating if I'm able to snag one of the window seats. I may even order a coffee but keep it simple. A little disappointing.

Went here for brunch with coworkers and we loved the food! Also in love with how vibrant the interior was. Especially the art on the walls! Service was friendly and my friends loved the Turkey Pesto panini so much that they ordered two more to go!

I had a breakfast bagel and iced vanilla latte and it was delicious! The place itself is so cute and aesthetic. The service was good; took a little long to take our order and to get our food but there were only two people working at that time so it was understandable.

A festive, neighborhood coffee shop. The horchata latte was really potent in the horchata flavor. I would highly recommend! The creamy and spicy in the horchata was not lost in the coffee drink. The service was superb. Very friendly. They took time and care to prepare the drinks and are meticulous in making sure you're taken care of. We ordered three drinks - two were for friends and the gentleman cut up a four drink cup holder to hold the two drinks. Ambiance was colorful and festive whilst clean.

I love discovering new coffee shops and La Malinche in Pilsen did not disappoint. I found out about it through TikTok and ventured out from the suburbs a few days later. The inside is quite cozy and has a good amount of seating. I personally loved the deep pink and navy blue walls, as well as the gold fireplace. The people working at the counter were very friendly and helpful. I ordered a large iced matcha green tea latte and it surpassed my expectations. It had the perfect balance of matcha to sweetener. I found myself enjoying it even more after every sip. I also appreciated that they have non dairy alternatives so that I was able to have my drink made with oat milk. La Malinche is a hidden gem in the Pilsen neighborhood. I can definitely see myself ordering a drink and getting some work done there. Their food items looked quite tasty as well. I will definitely need to try them out next time!

With a recommendation like that, I was ready to try anything. Parking can be a challenge in Chicago, but they had a lot in the rear of the restaurant, which was nearly empty. I strolled around to the front and walked in. I wasn't ready for it to be a cafeteria-style eatery, but it really didn't matter. The ambience was kind of cute. Lots of black and white tiles for a retro feel and some historical pictures of the founder. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup lunch special. Matzah ball was my choice of soup and my half sandwich looked huge. I was ready. I tasted the soup first. The broth was clear, and the matzah ball was large. I like hard matzah balls and soft, so it didn't matter to me which it was. What surprised me was the lack of chicken soup flavor. The matzah ball was spongy and not particularly tasty. On to the sandwich. The first thing I noticed was that the carver didn't pull a chunk out of a steam cabinet. They had a slicing machine running constantly forming a mound from which the carver grabbed a handful of corned beef, then a handful of pastrami, which had already been sliced and griddled to add to the corned beef. I asked about the smallest size side of chopped liver they could offer and he gave me a tiny chilled dose sized cup of liver pulled out of the fridge. So far I wasn't impressed. The chopped liver tasted very good but it was hand chopped and in large pieces with very little schmaltz. The sandwhich wasn't anything special. Not hot, not piled and the pickle was a kosher dill, not a half sour. I left half of my half sandwich, the pickle (except for the one bite), and even some chopped liver. For the cost of this average lunch , I would have rather eaten at my favorite deli in Atlanta and had tongue which wasn't even on the menu at Manny's.

To me, that's a big No, No. I would highly recommend Macarthurs or 6978 soul food restaurants instead. Delicious food, and the restaurants appreciate their patrons. Back story to my review of Priscilla's. Long story short, I am an African American woman, he was born and raised in Chicago westside. A couple years ago I relocated to another state, for work purposes. However, my family and friends are all in Chicago. I do return home to Chicago possibly 2-3x a year. When doing so, I try my best to spend my black dollars with black establishments. Priscilla's is one of those restaurants. I have property there in the west suburb close by. The 1st Sunday of August, I happened to be in town. I had my daughter to go and pick up a couple plates. I wanted some soul food. In preparation of this, she used Priscilla's website to directly order from them. This website even gave an estimated time the order would be ready! Boom! She headed out to pick up our merch. Why did she have to stand and wait in the restaurant for nearly a hour & a half for her order to be given to her. When she got home with the plates, why was the chicken Ice Box cold, with warm gravy poured on top. Everything that was paid for was a disaster!!! I've had issues with them before, and they resolved it, so I didn't think much of it. Although I was hungry, I gave them a call and left a voice mail. It's been two weeks, I'm still waiting on a call back from them. The utter disrespect of not even speaking with me. I even called a couple days later... Basically, I am going to file a complaint. It's not the money for me, it's the disrespect that has me offended. I'm now back out of town, over 2,000 miles away. They could have even offered credits for my daughter or a refund! Nothing!!! There's a saying, sometimes it's your own kind that will do you the dirtiest. Honestly as I think back on this. 1st Sunday is normally crowded at all restaurants in the black community. I think they may have run out of food, specifically chicken. If that was the case, just say that. Don't send me chicken that was in the back of the fridge from 3 days ago. Disgusting behavior. My money spends everywhere, but never again in this outdated dump! Believe me, I will file a couple of complaints. Even if I never get a red penny back, I want to alert customers, beware. Also check the temp of your food before exiting the place.
