Liquor Boy is my go to liquor store due to the low prices and great selection of inventory. They have harder to find bottles that can get pricey but it's cool to see them. The discounts are out of this world. I try and stop even a few times a month to see what they've got on clearance. I've found lots of beer, thc seltzers, and whiskey. If you are looking for it they probably have it and at fantastic prices. read more

If your looking for scotch, Liquor Boy has a wide selection at great prices. They have an ok variety of Bourbon and Ryes as well. We came here for a specific scotch so we didn't venture out into the wine isles, but I was surprised at how big the store actually was. read more

Five stars for selection, 1 star for customer service I've enjoyed going to Liquor Boy ever since they opened. I recently sold my home and went to buy a bottle of champagne to leave in the house for the new owners. When I was checking out I asked if we could have a box to use to pack the bottles I need to move. The cashier hesitated and then a grumpy cashier next to him piped in "you only get a bag if you are only buying one bottle". We told them to forget and walked out. They lost a $55 sale over a cardboard box. So we drove next door to Costco. The clerk there said to take as many as we want. Needless to say we won't be going go back to Liquor Boy. read more

Well.... Another disappointing interaction with the staff at LB... Phone call to them asking a question and she actually said..."how should I know?" The thing is...they do have a good selection of wine and their prices (especially when something is on special) are good. But the other thing is..their staff continues to be rude. Just me...but that trumps everything else. I get it... pandemic..blah, blah, blah. I have almost completely stopped going here. I really liked supporting a local business ( especially with all the negative things I have heard about total wine) but I just don't like a store that fosters... crabby customer service. Disappointed. I know it's a new world we live in...hard to find people to work and all that....but me... I am simply not patronizing businesses that leave me with a bad experience. My father was refused service by the store manager because he suffers from multiple sclerosis and has trouble walking. The store manager said he "appeared drunk" because of the way he walked. My dad proceeded to tell him he has MS and even went out to his car to show him the handicap sticker. My dad was still refused service and forced to leave the store. In 2024 it is ridiculous that handicap individuals still face this kind of discrimination. read more

My girlfriend and I are from Milwaukee, and we were in town looking for somewhere to get some local brews/wine that we can't normally get in Wisconsin. This place was recommended by family who said they have the best prices and selection in town in terms of Minnesota-centric beers, and we weren't disappointed. While not as spacious or fancy as a Total Wine, it's still a great store with a great set-up. The wine selection is organized by both country and style, and my girlfriend was able to find some Minnesota-made wine that she's pumped to try when we we're home. I'm more of a beer drinker though, so I was excited to find that the craft beer selection in the back half of the store was loaded with different choices. There were your normal beers, like Miller Lite and Coors Light and Modelo, etc., but they were dwarfed by the unique local breweries' selections. Summit Brewing, Indeed Brewing, and many others' offerings could be found in the wall of beer coolers, and I was able to come away with four six-packs of sour beers I had never heard of before. They had all kinds of styles, from sours to golden ales to stouts and everything in between, and they had a great selection of one-off beers as well, the kinds of beers that are a little bit more pricey and contain about 500 mL. The woman who rang us up at the front of the store was both very helpful and friendly, and she made some playful banter with us after she discovered we were from Wisconsin. We had a delightful experience, and between the friendliness of the staff and the great selection, we'll be back the next time we're in town. read more

We came here on St. Patricks day just for their Irish Whiskey tasting event. Wow, what an event! If you kept going you could walk out of here smashed. I was driving so I wasn't doing much tasting. My GF was the official taster and well tipsy by the end. I've never knew there were this many Irish Whiskey's. I did end up buying several bottles at a nice discount. Winning! The event was very well managed and orderly. A few professionals showed up with their own glassware. Um ok guys, chill a bit. We did get a free Irish Coffee mug, which they were serving, as part of the event fee. Overall it was a good experience. read more

I received a $9 rebate for a case of wine! I mean easy peasy! The beer selection and liquor selection is large, I don't think the prices are quite as good as the wine, but if I run out of liquor or beer and zip down the road to MGM... I'm a bit of a wine and Bourbon fan so I never pass up a chance to nose around in liquor stores to see if there are any missed prizes that have been passed over by the masses. I stop in here every once in a while, and the gods have smiled on me twice now when I have happened in here at just the right time to find the unpacking of a lone box in progress of something really hard to find. This has resulted in me snapping up something I can't get elsewhere and at a discount! For that, my liver is very thankful. However, I can only go 3 stars as this is a no-frills discount liquor store that kind of reminds me of an adult version of Costco and because it focuses on extreme value, it tends to lack in friendly, personal customer service. I have found that their selection is good for mainstream stuff and their pricing is very competitive with many items in large format discount packaging. But I also find this a little off-putting because it tends to attract 2 distinct type of shoppers: The suburban closet alcoholic or the person looking to stock up on a boatload of booze for a riotous weekend party. Neither tend to have a lot of taste discrimination in what they are shopping for and although I'm not a very pretentious person by any measure, it is a bit uncomfortable to be in the midst of a crowd of shoppers that seem to be either on a mission of trying to stall off their delirium tremens or trying to determine how to get cases of Fireball, Everclear, and cheap beer out to their pickup while keeping their Vikings and Packers jerseys intact. Regardless, the prices here are rarely beat elsewhere so it is worth a peek if you are in the area. read more

This place may not be as polished as Total Wine, but the selection is pretty decent and they have plenty of specials on beer and wine. Plus, I feel like Total Wine lacks discount specials these days. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Brought out items to the cash register and the cashier couldn't even be bothered to greet us, much less speak politely to us. I guess he was upset to be working on a Sunday? Very rude employee. There are so many better liquor stores in the area, it just isn't necessary to go back. Funny to me that I've shopped at the St. Louis Park Costco a billion times but never really noticed the Liquor Boy until someone at work mentioned it to me. At any rate, popped in to take a look-see, and glad I did. The Liquor Boy has a large selection of beer, from your Buds and such up to some pretty decent craft beer. Their craft selection is decent and fairly expansive. That said, I did not find anything that really wowed me or surprised me. In the end, I wound up buying the one beer I came in for (the sale my friend mentioned to me) and then leaving without buying anything else. If you were on the hunt for a quick case to take to a party or throw in the cooler, this would certainly do the trick at a fine price. But if you were looking for something unique or special, I would recommend one of our other local bottle shops. read more

Stopped in to Liquor Boy on Christmas Eve. It had been a long day at work and I wanted some nice wine to go with Christmas Dinner. I was perusing the wine aisles and one of the workers asked if I needed help. I said I needed a red to go dinner and he pointed me to a couple of options, which also happened to be on sale. The wine was ok, but the experience was great. I have stopped in a few other times and I have always been impressed with their selection, particularly the craft beer selection. Advertised Black Friday deal on Makers Mark for $30 off. Couldn't find at the store and when I asked the manager took me to a display with $15 off; said the ad said $30, he said well this is it. I showed him the ad posted at their entry way with the $30 off deal and he said, yeah, this is what we have; its $15 off. I stated that the ad says $30 off and he responded 'my employee ran the wrong ad so this is what you get' No even minor attempt at an apology; no posting a note on their deceptive ad in the doorway still listing $30 off. Nada. I asked if they were going to honor a $30 off and his response was a very loud 'have a nice day.' Not the first time I have run into an advertised price not being in the store; usually off by a $1-$3 on wine; but sloppy approach and somewhat crass attitude. Have stopped in before and was enticed to stop again by great price for Kim Crawford seen in Sunday paper. Went to check out after finding Kim and 2 other bottles. Cashier scrutinized my ID which I expected from the sign saying "they" are protected by doing so. When she rang up the 3 bottles and I paid with my credit card, the POS check out system was too complex for her and she wasn't able to print a receipt because she failed to scan 1 bottle. She asked for help...but didn't get it. I was surprised they couldn't finalize my sale of the 3rd bottle. In frustration, I left the bottle and store and won't go back. So today I decided to stop in to the discount liquor store known as Liquor Boy. After reading many reviews and newspaper reports I thought I should give it a try. Now mind you I like my alcohol and buy about $100 per week of bottles. Way more then the average person. I am not an alcoholic but an enthusiast. I shop between 3 stores to get what I want at a low cost. Average bottle cost $25-$60. All 3 of these stores are within 7 miles of each other. With hopes of saving enough to add a bottle of basic vodka every month I figured why not. I walked in and right away was welcomed by cheap beer and wine. I quickly looked at the Australian wines and checked out the "The Boxer" $23.99 the same price I pay at the liquor store by my office. Walking through the store I made my way to the spirits area. I have 7 or 8 regulars. From gin to vodka 7 of the eight we're higher priced then I pay now. I checked out the Bloody Mary department and the prices were the same as the France 44 wine and liquor store (which by the was offers tastings of many of there spirits for free). I understand a business is created to make money but saying you have super low prices and don't is not right. Liquor Boy is just another liquor store. Making people think by having pallet racking and keeping the place simple you think your getting a deal when your really not. My recommendation is that if your looking for the standard run of the mill booze at a ok price this place is for you. If you are looking for a deal there are much better places. If you are looking for general selection of the basics they got it. If your looking for a local distillery they don't have it most likely. read more

Customer service sucks! The manage is rude and unprofessional! The cashier asked for my Drivers license, which I just renewed due to the four year rule, which expires today, on birthday. so it was clipped. She asked to see the "yellow" slip, which I gave her and then asked me WHY my license was clipped. That is non of her business!!! Then she asked if the person next to me was with me. Again, non of her business!! As a customer I was offended! Too many unnecessary questions all for one bottle of wine? Never ever have I had to deal with such rude people at a liquor store! Liquor boy has a good selection of alcohol to choose from. I went in and noticed they still sold the firebox even though fireball said they don't sell them anymore. The employees are speedy in the check out line which is a big plus. They didn't card me when I checked out which isn't a big deal but they should so they don't get in trouble. read more

I was asked by a couple folks what I was looking for and if I needed any assistance. A bit out of the way for a city gal but worth the trip if you need to stock up.
