Now run by third-generation owners, it expanded to retailing fine wine and cheeses as well. I stopped in to buy some house gifts, and was pleasantly surprised by its very large selection of products, displayed in a way that it was enjoyable to do some 'window shopping'. In my case, I focused on the whiskey's and found what I was hoping for (from the Nikka distillery, a place I had visited a long time ago). But surprisingly it carried American made whiskey (in this case, from the Seattle area) for a price that was lower than what I had paid when actually visiting the distillery itself. I took the time to walk around a bit, noticing that they had an entire section devoted to just German and Austria wines. (Would have been shocked to find wines from Luxembourg, which is on my list). There were also a large beer refrigerated room, as big as any I've seen at big retailers. Of course, it had the beers from the Midwest that are hard to find where I live now (Leinenkugel, Hamm's, and Zywiec). Also noticed a small display of cigars, protected behind locked glass. Ended up getting two Westland Single Malt 750ml for $56.99 each. Checkout was identical to any large liquor store chain (like a grocery store checkout with employees who do checkout and are not really knowledgeable about the products sold).

I'm traveling and won't be back in the Twin Cities until September 23rd, The ad runs through the 23rd. On Friday, I phoned to inquire about ordering on-line and picking up on the 23rd. I could not find the Old Fitz listed on the Liquor Boy website to order. The person who fielded my phone call waited until I'd asked how to order, then, in a very hostile manner barked "forty-nine, ninety-nine". I said I didn't understand the person's response. The person then uttered, "We aren't selling that bourbon for the price in the ad. It's $49.99, not the price in the ad. It was a misprint." I could easily understand that, as it was half of MSRP and probably protected by M.A.P. (federal minimum advertised price regulations) but the demeanor of Liquor Boy's employee was simply unconscionable. I've spent a significant sum in that store and do not expect to be treated with hostility. I said to the person, "I expect that walk-in customers looking for the Old Fitz special have expressed some displeasure." The response was, "They come in look for the display, can't find it, ask where it is, and when I tell them it was a misprint, they storm out the door, all day Thursday and today." I asked the clerk why a sign wasn't put up simply saying, "Sorry, the Old Fitz has been sold out." Your ad does say something like, quantities limited. "That's not up to me." The upshot is the criticism I've read about the rude behavior of Liquor Boy staff is unabated which indicates ownership isn't listening to customers.
