My dad turned me on to a wine ( Taylor Tawny Port). For some reason it's hard to find. I used to go to Wise guys to get it. The girl at the counter knows me there. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it there. Really anywhere. So, I called my dad. I said, look, you got me started in this wine, where do you get yours. He told me that he got it here. He couldn't remember the name but, I figured it out. Nice place! Great customer service too. They also stock plenty of Tawny Port. I hope they will have enough around the holidays as one of the guys told me that the wine was going around tik tok and all the younger crowd was starting to drink it. Hey! Find your own wine! This is hard enough to find . Nice liquor store. I will be back. Every week, sometimes twice a week. As long as they have my wine. read more

Good ole Pete's. I have been coming here for years and it is a great place. It is not a chain and they have a lot of things cheaper here than anywhere else. The staff knows a lot and I have chatted with several about ways to mix certain things I have bought. It's not a fancy store but they have so many beers it makes me smile! There are a LOT of craft beers! I don't like when there are 3 of those and millions of cans of beer flavored water like Coors light. This place is well stocked and even has a TON of those mini bottles behind the counter when you want to try something new but afraid of commitment to an entire bottle. read more

I visited the liquor bucket as a suggestion from a cousin. I was visiting from out of town and didn't realize the liquor stores closed early on Sunday in Indiana. When I arrived at 7:50 pm I was met with A gentleman opening the door shaking his head saying they were closed. they had closed 10 minutes early. very unfortunate. I was celebrating a cousins graduation and really would've enjoyed being able to contribute to the gathering. read more

Ah, the liquor bucket. Sounds trashy, doesn't it? But it's not, I swear. It's only probably the best liquor store in Merrillville! The employees here are so very friendly! Always ready to converse, make recommendations, etc. They don't look at your like you're up to no good like employees of other liquor stores I've been to. The selection is great...They recently expanded in the past year, taking over the spot next door vacated by the former BMV (or DMV for those of you from Illinois). Honestly, I always thought it was funny having a liquor store next door to the BMV...Because in my experience, after you've gone to the BMV and waited in those lines, chances are you'll need a drink, lol. But, I digress...The BMV has moved and the Liquor Bucket is bigger and better. We come here for beer. Micro-brews, to be exact. There's a pretty good selection too, from local to foreign breweries. A good portion come refridgerated as well, which is a plus! The prices are pretty decent too, as you pay for quality. They have specials sometimes too, so you can walk out with a deal. A good portion of the store is wine, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that their wine selection is decent as well...I'm not very well-versed in wines, so I can't say for sure. They carry Tabor Hill's wines, so that's good enough for me! read more

The name alone piques your interest, no? One of my favorite liquor stores in the area mostly because the wine selection is much better than most in the Region. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, and the store is usually pretty tidy. If you're into craft beer, you'll probably have better luck at Pat's in Chesterton, but you can't beat the Liquor Bucket for wine and booze. read more

Before the expansion Pete's was good but I wouldn't go out of my way to shop there. Post expansion, the selection is probably the best in the area (aisle after aisle of wines with an impressive array of beer) and the customer service can't be beat. The second I walked up to the wine I was greeted with, "Do you need help with wine?", not, "If you need any help, let me know." It was fairly smug sounding. At the register I was carded (no big deal), but seeing my ID in my wallet window wasn't enough, so I had to take it out (also not a big deal). As I gripe under my breath about how taking the ID out of that slot is a pain, I hear in a smug obnoxious voice, "Do you want to be served?". I nearly told her what she could do with the bottles and left, but I didn't feel like driving further. I'll never buy anything from them again. Sidenote: massive piles of the same vintage of wine is not better than a few bottles of a lot of vintages of wine. They are a bulk seller of cheap fast moving liquor. I hope they build a Binny's out here and put this place out of business. read more

Liquor Bucket is by far the best liquor store that I have been to. Their customer service is outstanding. They are always helpful and eager to assist you. What I appreciate the most is that when they are out of a product that you normally purchase, they will order it and call you to let you know that it is in the store and ready for pickup. read more

Great selection of wine and liquor and a staff that is knowledgeable about good wine in all price points.

This is the best store for craft brews that I have been to. The store is open and well laid out. The prices are good. It is out of my way, but when I want something special, the drive is worth it. read more
