Selection of Pinot noir is lackluster for all but the elementary palates. Also they are blaring CNN over the wine aisle. Won't be back

Great selection of wine and liquor and a staff that is knowledgeable about good wine in all price points.

After a day with my mother in northwest Indiana, you know I'm looking for inexpensive Indiana…read morealcohol before I go back to Chicago. A waitress at our Crown Point lunch place recommended Stockhouse 611. She didn't remember the name of it, but she remembered it was on Summit Street, just past the bank. The location is actually at one end of an L-shaped strip mall. I didn't even notice signage at the entrance to the mall on Summit Street, though I assume there must be something. This is a small store, but with a solid selection. I think somebody who really knows beer, wine and spirits does the ordering for this place. This is a small place. Don't come here expecting one of those ginormous stores like Binny's. Size limits stock here, so you won't see a great depth of selection. For instance: I was looking for Spanish wines like garnacha or tempranillo, but they had no Spanish wines at all. On the other hand, I asked if they had Schnapps -- not the kind you see left under the overpasses in Chicago -- and they had three different kinds. I was impressed. Probably due to its location, there were no other customers when I shopped there, on a weekday afternoon, so I got very helpful service from the clerk. I will definitely go here again. As long as I have to visit my crazy relatives in Hobart and Crown Point, I know I will want to have alcohol for the evening, after I get home. And I'd much rather patronize a small business than some megastore, even if I can't get garnacha there.
