Love this place!! Just happened upon it as we usually go to Liquor stores in Amherst. Or Liquors 44 or Table and Vine. This store is a gem in South Hadley. I would like to share my recent experience with "Liquor Town" in South Hadley on 202. My husband is a regular customer there and always buys from them because it is close to us. He made a comment about a year ago that they only take recyclables back if they are organized in the original box. Because of this inconvenience, my husband accumulated about two years worths of beer cans in our garage. I have this week off from work so I decided to split the return work in two days as I can't fit that many cans in my car. I first went to Liquors 44 in Holyoke and returned most of them, then went to Liquor Town to return the rest that the machines don't take because they don't sell them in their store. The first day, Liquor Town took 62 cans for me but I had to sort them (same brand together). When I went today, they told me "we don't have the machines....take them to the machines in other stores", and "we will only take one kind if they are all together". After I explained I already went to liquors 44 in Holyoke and they didn't take those I have in the bags that I know I bought them from their store, and I don't mind sorting them again, they demanded to see the receipts. At that point, I got so mad, so I walked out the store and decided to never return there. I don't understand why a regular customer like my husband should continue to inconvenience himself to this store. We regret spent thousands of dollars there. Liquor Town took the deposits we paid at the time of purchase and gave us a hard time about returning them. Not a business I want to support. There was a man in line that overheard my augment with the staff/owner there, and suggested I take the cans to Liquor 44 in Chicopee. I did end up going there after walking out. Their service there was excellent. I was doubtful the machines will take any that they didn't take in the Holyoke store. A staff named Rick saw me trying to return a bunch and got spit out again, told me he would take and count them manually for me. The only liquor store around that I could find that carried Ole Smokey peanut butter whiskey. Employees were in good moods. Appreciate it!

On 9/6/2020 my friend came for a visit at my south Hadley home. We wanted to have a few drinks so we visited Liquor Town. This was my first time there. I noticed the clerk looking at me with a funny look in his eyes as I was talking to my friend. Mind your business guy no one was talking to you? Once we got outside of the store i could tell my friend was upset. He told me that the clerk followed him around the store for the entire time he was browsing the store. This really infuriated me. I'll never go back there even If they offered me beers free. This is the thing that bothers me about America. You have all these foreigners come in and are able to be owners of shops and stores. As an American citizen we have to jump through red tape to become an owner. take your liquor and stick it body. I'm not welcomed there. I supposed you never had a African American and Hispanic in your store before? As my friend pointed out to me. He was wearing shorts and a white T-shirt. Our first visit to this store last weekend - loved how clean and perfectly organized the store is. Appears to have a huge variety of everything including this "cool" sub-zero walk-in beer fridge and a lot of holiday bonus gift packs. Found the prices to be comparable to others and the owners were so incredibly nice. Even scored a couple of free Amstel glasses from them as a gift for shopping in their store as we prepped for the big weekend. Yesterday, I won their raffle! Nice bottle of Kentucky-aged Pappy Van Winkle bourbon which retails at a pretty high price across the country. Super psyched! Amazing to see the transformation of the old Adelphia's. Selling a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 10 year for $500-the Msrp is around $90. Horrible business practice to be retailing a bottle for the secondary market price. He told me he wants to make sure whomever he sells it to is not going to resell the bottle. Unfortunately he has out priced 99% of his customers by doing so. read more

Great newer liquor store and the prices are lower than other stores nearby. This place is always busy and the staff have always been friendly and helpful - they even order for you if they don't carry what you want. Last time I was in they even suggested a sale item instead of what I was buying - for a better bargain. Will continue to shop here! read more

The store is clean and has a large selection. We were excited to find that the wine we like was a full three dollars cheaper, sold cold, and is always in stock, as opposed to the store we typically buy from. The service was prompt and friendly, and there was no walking a gauntlet of cigarette smoke, which was refreshing. read more
