Frugal MacDoogal, a Nashville staple in the liquor store scene that has its own lore...and this is my first time, even after being in Nashville 5 years! Not sure what took me so long, but I get it now. Frugal MacDoogal is a large liquor/spirit store located in the Gulch on Division. They offer all the classic spirits, mixers, beers, wines, supplies and more...including a great selection of THC based drinks. We popped by out of curiosity and convenience, not needing anything, but we left with some ThC drinks, gin and some Fever Tree tonic. The store is well laid out, organized, clean and well kept...plus stocked! Service was friendly from entry to exit. Cashiers were nice, floor associates were friendly and even the guard had good energy. Pricing seemed standard on most things, not a big noticeable difference from other local stores, but the selection was unrivaled. Overall, I get why this spot is popular. I've been coming here for years. They have a wide selection and if they didn't have something I wanted, I was able to try something else. I have enjoyed the various tastings that are offered when I pop in. There hours were always why I chose them and their proximity to my house. They are fast, friendly, and always willing to help. Used to love this place. It got more and more expensive. The service was always hit or miss. Arrived today to a scary looking guard and a big sign warning people with masks (medical even??) to stay out. Yikes. What about folks who need masks due to health concerns or taking care of folks with health concerns? They might want shop for liquor to host guests or celebrate a holiday, too. Guess the ownership doesn't care. No 'see staff for accomodation' or any offer to help. If the neighbor is THAT bad that they're excluding folks with health concerns? NO THANK YOU!!! Customer service is awful! I placed a large order to be delivered to the house we rented with several people. I ordered 2 12 packs of Corona Premier Beer and they delivered regular Corona Beer. When I called them after the delivery instead of great customer service and apologizing and sending my 2 Premier 12 packs to the house asap, they told me they would credit my card back for the regular (which they didn't do and still haven't) and to go in and place another order for the 2 premier 12 packs. Took forever to get it and I had to call them to see where the order was and just really a hassle. So, not the way I would have liked to have seen this situation handled. read more

Truly a terrible experience. I asked for help in the wine section felt so uncomfortable. Then when I checked out they asked for two different forms of identification and then proceeded to laugh at me the entire time I was walking out. A booze paradise...and other things too! Coming down to Nashville a few times with groups, we always make an effort to stop in at Frugal MacDoogal to stock up on beverages for the weekend. They have any type of beer and liquor you can think of, as well as other snacks and other non-alcoholic beverages. It's a really big place so it can get pretty busy at times when checking out, but coming here is definitely worth it. A decent sized liquor store with friendly staff, ample parking, and an overall good selection of run of the mill whiskies (they also had a lot of wine, other spirits, and beers to choose from, but I specifically stopped in to checkout their bourbon selections). I only found 2ish aisles of bourbon and ryes, along with a few end cap displays with barrel picks. None of the barrel picks were interesting to me - but there were multiple offerings from Rebel, Woodinville, and Yellowstone. I was asked by an employee if I needed any help (a positive), but when I asked if there was were any additional picks or a section the store keeps higher end bottles, I was told what I saw was what they have. I get it (likely asked that same question multiple times a day) - but a bummer for me, as I had high hopes for this store based on reviews I'd read before traveling to Nashville. Prices were decent and I was able to pick up a bottle of Bowman's Small Batch that I enjoy - so my visit wasn't a total bust. As I checked out, I said good evening to a security guard sitting by the door. Not sure what that says about visiting this location on a Friday night - but interesting to me. read more

Need booze for your holiday party? This is the spot! I came here the day before Thanksgiving to pick a few libations to pair with a day full of cooking. I picked up rum, absinthe, vodka, whiskey and three bottles of wine for $120! That's a score! All of their booze sections are huge and everything is super easy to find. I was a little bummed they don't carry Pickers vodka, but I was able to grab a bottle of Wheatley vodka instead. Beyond liquor, the beer sections is decent with a large selection of local brews and don't forget to take a peek at the wine cellar area, right behind the wall of rum. The parking is tight and there's currently a lot construction going on here, so be patient and maybe do you holiday booze shopping during weekday hours. Party safe! read more

This place has all the local beers we were looking for and more! There were beers from Indiana and beyond, of course. If that's not your taste, no worries. There's plenty of wine and liquor too! The best part of our visit was finding a beer my husband had bought when he was in Puerto Rico. He brought some back home with him, and I loved it too, and we were shocked to find it here! This store had massive inventory, was very organized and clean! Unfortunately, I took zero pictures as just being inside caused me to be very distracted..... in a good way! The staff were all nice and really fun to interact with. Let's just say , I won't forget the experience! These types of liquor stores tend to be slightly overpriced, but that is subjective. I feel like Frugal MacDoogal is the Nashville version of Dirt Cheap or Randall's with just a way better name. It is a massive distributor of alcohol, which is a necessity when visiting Nashville! Big beer selection! This place is cool! I came in looking for Tennessee whiskies, and they had a whole section of whiskies and bourbons. It wasn't really sorted by the type, except for the flavored varieties. I enjoyed checking out all the whiskies- I had heard that this is one of the largest liquor stores in the state, and therefore has the biggest selection, I suppose. But the best part was the beer selection. They have long aisles of coolers keeping the beers cold, and aisles of beers stored warm. It's sorted by local, regional, mass brew, etc. They had a wild variety of stuff that this Texan had never seen. I was proud to see that Shiner Beers from Shiner, Texas were being promoted so heavily! Frugal MacDoogal is a big ol' adult beverage store! In fact, it feels like a warehouse! We stopped in on our way out of town for two reasons: we liked the name, and we were interested in maybe buying a few local brews to bring home with us. They have a pretty great selection! And the prices are pretty on point as well! There were so many beer options to choose from, and so many sound so good! Towards the end of our visit an employee noticed us and asked if we needed help finding anything. But we were just browsing to see what was even available. We had no definite idea of what we might want. We ended up not buying anything. But it wasn't for lack of interest. We are spoiled a bit with some of our favorite liquor stores in Louisville, where they offer almost their entire beer offering in 4- and 6-packs AS WELL AS in singles! We were hoping to find a variety of local beers that we could be one bottle or can of to take home with us. They have a standing rack with fancy, pricy, expensive single bottles and bombers. Best liquor store in TN! They have the most variety great customer service and best prices.

Supposed to be one of the biggest liquor stores in all of Nashville possibly in all of Tennessee so we wanted to check out it. It was big, but I feel like they could have used the space so much better to add much more variety.. if you came to buy 30 handles of the same basic liquor this is your place. Maybe I am used to being spoiled in Maryland where each store though not as big as Frugal MacDoogal has 10 times the selection. They still do have a section near the back of the store that does have a local craft selection. I think for improvement they should move that section closer to the front of the store. read more

I gave them a list of what we needed and had great pricing back right away. I could tell that they are very comfortable dealing with people digitally (over e-mail) as the entire transaction took place that way. They provided us free delivery which took the worry of picking everything up away from us in a dry busy week. Delivery was on time as promised and the order items were just as promised. If you need drinks in Nashville, Frugal MacDoogal is the spot. It's similar to Binny's for us Chicagoans. I made a stop here before driving home to pick up some local brews. I am a beer chick after all! They did have a good selection of beer including a wide assortment of local suds. I was slightly sad they didn't have a mix & match six pack for $9.99 but they did sell a very small amount of bottles for $1.99-$3.99 each. I looked through things and found what I thought I would be best spending about $50 on various choices. If I had more time, they actually had a small tasting table with some drinks you could try out before buying. I was short on time though plus felt slightly strange drinking at 10am. Only slightly, no judgement! I was happy with the selection though it wasn't quite the plethora I was hoping for and prices weren't exactly frugal, just seemed like list price. This place. I am not even sure what to say. If you are coming here looking for rare or special whiskey, you can forget it. However it's a fantastic spot if you're looking for Costco prices, Costco sizes, but larger liquor store variety. Frugal definitely delivers in its cheapness what it lacks in quality. You can find anything your heart desires that you'd also find in your local Safeway here, but in a larger format and probably cheaper. The staff is very friendly, but will laugh you out the store if you're looking for Weller or Willet. read more
