I was so excited to walk into this store for bourbon! I was able to buy a bottle of Buffalo Trace for about $5 more than normal... fine, purchased. I was able to Try Big House, which was also 1 per customer. It was great bourbon. $50/bottle I was told because I was from out of town (Cincinnati) he would let me buy 2. Wow! That was nice! On the way back home, we stopped at Party Source in Newport... price was $25. Ouch! I got over it. Then I was at Jungle Jim's in Fairfield, Ohio and saw it there... $18.00. Convenient location. Great selection of craft beer. Friendly employees. Liquor World has a lot going for it. Not only are they open during this crazy time, but they have some social distancing measures in place and had local beer on top of that, the purpose of tonight's visit. Liquor World offers curbside pick-up and has spots on the floor to stand while waiting in line. It's a small store, though, so I would definitely recommend wearing a mask to help protect other people (and hopefully other people will be wearing them to protect you, right, RIGHT???). Now on to non-COVID-19 matters: I was impressed with their craft beer selection. They had a peach Berliner Weisse from Three Floyds that caught my eye. And chatting up with the clerk (owner maybe?), they're proud of their Three Floyds selection in particular. I also spotted some Urban Artifact, Southern Tier and Dogfish Head that looked good. Liquor World seems like a fun place to peruse to find something delicious to imbibe. I'll be back. read more

If You are looking for hard to fine Buffalo Trace brands, you will find a few here but they will be easily double MSRP. They had Eagle Rare, EH Taylor small batch, and Blanton's; however, all of them were more than double the price of MSRP. read more

Five+ years ago, I gave this store a 5 Star review. They have obviously changed owners. I went in there this evening (10/12/22) to buy a bottle of vodka. I picked one, clerk rang it up, price on the computer was $1 higher than the price on the shelf. Clerk REFUSED to honor the price clearly posted on the shelf. "I can't do that" he says. "Sure you can! Just give me another dollar, so it MATCHES THE SHELF PRICE!!!" I left, will never be back. Unless you are OK with being scammed, neither should YOU. I felt like raising a big stink with consumer protection agencies, but I'm sure clerk "fixed" the shelf price after I left. Outrageous. read more

This is a decent liquor store. It is a good size and it is well-kept and clean. There is a decent beer selection (our main focus of the day). Staff was cool, on the friendliness scale. Check out was quick, and I only realized after swiping my card that they have a handwritten sign indicating that debit is preferred over credit. Whoops...too late. I mean, they aren't going to stop you from using a credit card. But that seemed a bit weird. It's is an ok liquor store. There is nothing terribly shocking to say about the liquor store. It has beer, wine, and liquor. And they sell it. That get's a thumbs-up in my book. They do have pretty late hours, which is really nice for insomniac drinkers. And they do have a selection, albeit a very small one, of cigars, if that's your thing. The craft beer selection is decent. Not all that great, but OK. I was able to find some pretty cool brews here, and had a pleasant tasting time. The beer went down into my belly quite pleasingly. I'll probably be heading back to pick up some more choices from this place. read more

Noticeably way pricier than the 1 other KY liquor store I'd been to, & the rude cashier apparently didn't believe I was 21 - I got bad vibes as she was clicking her pen giving me looks acting amused by my questions and waiting for me to get out or produce a fake ID, and loudly read my ID as I went to pay her. I look young but never had a liquor cashier make it uncomfortable like that. I overlooked this liquor store for the longest time. I only visited when I was with someone and briefly glanced around the store. Fast forward to moving close by. I've been here a few times now and I have to say that I'm a huge fan of this store! They are open later than most places which helps. At last check their closing time was 1-2 AM. So if you're night isn't getting started until 10 or 11 o'clock... you'll definitely be able to pick up your favorite bottle or can from here. With the bourbon selection, you'll find all the basics. The beer selection isn't as large as some of the warehouse stores out there, but they have enough selection that you'll definitely find something you like. They also have a decent amount of wine. Every time I've visited this place the staff has been more than friendly. If you live close by then this store is convenient. There really aren't many reasons for me to stop in that area on that side of Eastern Parkway. A case could be made for a few of the businesses, but not many. Lump Liquor World into the businesses worth stopping for. read more

This is a pretty run of the mill liquor store. They don't have anything super special about them. The employees that I've talked to the couple of times I have been are nice, knowledgeable about their selection and if you're looking for something specific they will tell you places you can go to get it if they're familiar with what you're looking for. They have enough beer selection to keep me interested and coming back when I'm in the area. I did find a six pack of Arrogant Bastard bourbon barrel aged laying around in a random spot so they even have some things I didn't know existed. It's setup nicely so that if you're looking for whiskey it's all in the same place, beer is located near each other and the wine selection is enough to please just about every taste bud without spending $40 on a bottle. It's kind of small but convenient so that you can get what you need and get out instead of locating somewhere else. read more

Pretty decent liquor store. I've been coming here for over a year and I've never been disappointed. Their staff is super friendly and you always get a hello walking in the store. This store opens early and closes late so if you're still partying at midnight you're in luck (at least on the weekend). They're not too far from UofL and right on Preston Highway. Pretty good location for them as well because there aren't too many (or any) liquor stores in the vicinity - at least not that I've found. With that being said, you'll see that they maximize on this fact. So, you can pretty much expect not the cheapest but maybe a bit above warehouse prices. They do have a decent selection of beer and the most common wines. For those that want something a bit stronger they've got all the faves from vodkas to bourbons. Really, there's no reason you can't leave this store with something you like. read more

This place is very convenient for me to stop by and grab a bottle of wine on the way home or some beer for a party. It's just off of Eastern Pkwy - not far from U of L campus. They have a decent selection of beer, wine and liquor and it is well sorted. The prices aren't bad but you can expect to pay $1 or 2 more than you would at a larger liquor store or Trader Joe's or Kroger for wine. The people working there have been hit or miss. The manager is helpful and knowledgeable about wine but often the person working the register is less than friendly. read more

Greg is a chill guy and gives great reccomendations and is a total sweetheart. This is my home liquor store & I go there a lot. The guys are nice and it has a neighborhood feel to it. Certain customers always come in at certain times of the day. Sometimes you'll walk in and some regulars are standing around swapping jokes. I was visiting Louisville on a work trip and had promised lots of bottles of bourbon to friends and co-workers. A bartender downtown recommended Liquor World and said it was her local liquor store. The person who helped me might have been the nicest person I've ever met at a liquor store (or most places) and was extremely knowledgeable and sensitive to my price points. I left with a gift for everyone I came for, with each gift carefully selected (e.g. something low proof for the office, something for a cocktail drinker, something for drinking straight, something hard to find outside of Kentucky etc) and even something nice for the house. As a tourist I expected to get a little ripped off but I received excellent value and outstanding customer service. Outside of bourbon talk, the person who helped me (and now I wish I had asked for his name!) even suggested some addition tourism attractions and encouraged us to visit Louisville again. This was my go-to beer shop. That was until last week. They are constantly price gouging the consumers.

What can I say, it's a liquor store. The prices are reasonable, I can walk there while drunk and the employees are nice.

Absolutely terrible!! Do not shop here unless you want to be accused of stealing. Went in to check on wine selection and did not find anything that I was looking for so I left. License plate number was taken and video tape was reviewed to see if I had stolen anything. When I inquired as to why this was done, I was told it was because I came in and left without purchasing anything. I didn't know that you instantly became a thief if you don't purchase something. I recently moved near this location and it has been my go to spot since it was close but I will not be giving them anymore of my busines. They do have a good selection of craft which is a plus but with the exception of a couple of guys the staff here is RUDE. The one older guy with the gray hair is the worst and I have no clue what his deal is. I try to be friendly with everyone but not worth doing with this man. I have asked him many times how his day is going and he will not even respond just give you a dead stair like you burden by wanting to spend your money here. I said I was not going back but went back on my word and went yesterday and once again was treated the same way. So that was final I will take my money to Liquor Barn or Value Market as I suggest you should too. read more
