The hotel itself had a very friendly staff, who were more than happy to help out with any questions we had (and we def had a few with it being our first time in Lisbon). They also spoke English, which was helpful for us. The room was a good size and was incredibly clean and well decorated. The room and the hotel had a funky "theatrical" type of them, apparently inspired by a nearby hotel which we enjoyed. The beds were also very comfortable, which is nice to have after a long day of exploring the city.

The rooms were quite spacious and had a lovely balcony looking out to the surrounding neighborhood. During our stay, they left us a beautiful hand-written thank you note with a small gift on Christmas day, which was really thoughtful and blew us away. Not to mention the delicious daily breakfast selection of fresh breads, meats and cheeses, pastries, and frittatas. The common areas were also very nice and homely place to drink and eat. The pool also looked amazing but, unfortuntately, we were not able to use it as the weather was not suitable. The location is perfect as well as you are close to very highly-rated, popular restaurants and local trains. Based on the location, amenities, and overall hospitality, I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a holiday stay in Lisbon.

They have free breakfast here with eggs and crepes, and the kitchen has everything to make any meal- it's a very upscale kitchen and setup. They have daily and weekly drink specials and different events going on all the time. I would definitely stay here again. The rooms are clean and so are the bathrooms and this is a very nice and fancy hostel. They let me store my luggage and I really enjoyed my stay here and meeting others.

Beware tourists. Booked a hotel for an overnight stay in Lisbon about 2 weeks before. Arrived in…read morethe afternoon after a looonnngg red eye from America. When we arrived to Casa do Mercado Lisboa they wouldn't let us check in until 14:00 , which is fine. When we got back around 14:30, the staff told us that the room "wasn't ours". Then two people in charge came and told us that the room we had booked was flooded and we couldn't stay there. They did help us find another hotel.. barely. Didn't provide compensation to one of the only other hotel savailable (37 minutes away). Since we had to book last minute we ended up paying another 80 euros (which we tried to avoid by booking early). Also, we made all of our reservations near the hotel since we were just staying the night and didn't want to spend too much money. To add insult to injury we watched two other parties walk in and get rooms. Still haven't gotten a refund. Definitely not a good look to leave 3 young travelers stranded in Lisbon with no advanced warning or compensation help. Seemed like they overbooked and just felt like kicking us out since they didn't let us know about the situation when we came at 13:00 to leave our luggage. The least they could have done was call us and let us know the second they knew. Stay away...

Second time staying here in the past 3 month. The crew remembers me and are always friendly as I remember them. I have nothing negative to say about this place. I did the Sintra excursion and it was great. Despite Luís' car accident he was there and made sure every one enjoyed their time. They exemplify the Portuguese/Brazilian culture of kindness and hospitality. I would go back and back to this hostel. It feels like my second home. Cheers to the crew and the housekeepers.

As a result this led to me having one of the absolute worst nights of my entire life that easily could've been avoided had they just let me pay by credit card for the pub crawl. Had I been able to do that, I would have been able to go out with people, but ended up going out by myself that led to the worst nightlife incident I ever had. The atms near the hostel do NOT work, AT ALL. I tried multiple times I've never failed on a foreign country's atm in my life. Do NOT come here if you're using credit cards. Actually don't come here at all, when I told them about the incident, all they said was "oh too bad" talk about not comforting your guests at all. They only take cash for some reason. I would NOT recommend staying here. I never wanted to check out of a hostel faster in my life. Extremely disappointed especially when factoring the "good reviews". This was the worst international experience I have ever had and I have been to many countries, hostels, nightlife, just a truly traumatic and awful experience. Just never again
