We've purchased here multiple times. Incredible selection of so many gorgeous fans and lighting,…read moreoptions range from reasonably affordable to very high end. We've have purchased 4 fans and lights. All are gorgeous. When we had one that didn't work upon install, we had no issue returning it and ordering a replacement. Karen has helped us every time ... she's great. Everyone else we've talked to there whether over the phone or in person is top notch, friendly, and all about great service. It's rare to find places like Hobrecht's that has been around for decades and still does business the old fashioned way.

I have purchased many items from Hobrecht over the years. I appreciated their quality. I'm…read morecurrently doing a bathroom remodel and need vanity lights, so I went to Hobrecht. Upon entering the man and women at the front desk were involved in a conversation. They hardly acknowledged me and the man said welcome in and went back to the conversation. They didn't ask what brought me in in order to point me to vanity lights in the store. I believe I was the only customer and many workers passed by me. None acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. Upon leaving a third person was at the front desk. The original 2 were still in their conversation. The third person asked if I had questions and I told her it was frustrating that I was the only customer in the store and no one has bothered to help. She seemed annoyed and faced her computer and started typing. I will not be giving them any more business. I would also recommend them to others, but will definitely not be doing so in the future.

I'm floored by how rude these people are. I wish I'd looked at reviews before I contacted them…read more I didn't get the name of the person I spoke to via text, but based on the other reviews I can only assume it was the infamous Tina. Tina likes to randomly delete text messages from less than a week ago and then act confused and annoyed when you follow up a few days later, as though I was the one who deleted all the context of our conversation instead of her. You see, Tina is an unfortunate combination of mean and stupid. She lacks reading comprehension but still insists on only communicating via text, and then she will misunderstand what you wrote and get rude about it. I had two lamps needing repair. I initially contacted her about a floor lamp, a modern bridge lamp with a broken connector. She told me that part was not able to be replaced but she could sell me an antique bridge lamp base to use with my stained glass shade. I was disappointed and unsure if I wanted to do that or not, so I asked for photos. She sent over very poor photos that did not show the base in its entirety. I responded that I wasn't sure how it would all look together because I couldn't see the whole thing at once, and she cut the conversation short. Whatever, I wasn't sure what to do and I got busy so I didn't respond back right away. Four days later, I decided I should probably just buy the base, so I sent a message asking if the base was still available. I also asked if there was any way she could help with another lamp that I nearly finished putting back together, but there were a few parts that I could not quite figure out where they had gone before. Being a lamp repair business, I thought this was a reasonable request, but apparently I was wrong. I've attached those messages in their entirety. Don't even bother trying to work with these people. They will shame you for asking about lamp repair and make everything about how much money they can earn.

I learned the hard way that all of these negative reviews about rudeness and unprofessionalism all…read moreover the Net are true. It was with great pleasure that I told them off, even though that means I will now have to drive my lamp to San Francisco instead. If it's really so difficult to behave like a professional, get the hell out of business and take your nonsense elsewhere. This business deserves to fail. It's definitely the kind of place where I would expect if I ever did leave a lamp there to be repaired, it might be a considerable time-consuming chore getting it back from them even, or showing up one day and finding the store closed and them out of business with your lamp. Tom, you used to be a decent person when you were at 57th St. That you have let your business devolve into this and that you work with this terrible "Tina" person is beyond belief. Shame on you.
