I really think Dr. Michelle and Dr. Grover go above and beyond in looking out for their patients. I had the unfortunate experience of my son breaking his front tooth when he was 4 and needing urgent care. Dr. Michelle helped reassure me, was reachable and empathic, and helped make the x-rays and the treatment bearable. My little guy was scared. He got to keep the tooth but Dr. Michelle had to shave/smooth the rough, sharp edge where the break was and it was loud and scary. He had to stay totally still and we made it through! I trusted her fully and was grateful he was in her capable hands. My other son had some small cavities that were treated by silver floss which I hadn't heard of before but was a less invasive way of stopping the cavity from growing than drilling and filling. Lastly, Dr. Michelle came to my son's school for dental health awareness month and gave a wonderful interactive presentation that the kids loved. This is a great business. I am only sad, like everyone else, that they no longer take insurance :( read more

Just an update to my initial review: I now have a 2nd child. He was very hesitant about the dentist, the staff had been so wonderful the few initial visits just to keep him calm. Today he walked in the office as if he owned the place. Not a worry or a concern. Sat so calmly watching his tv show getting his teeth cleaned. I am so happy that this team has built confidence in my kids for going to the dentist. So now 2 out of 2 kids love it! I had seen several other dentist until I was referred by friend to this office. Dr. Michelle has been our pediatric dentist for more than 7 years. We came to her after a referral from Stanford Children's when my daughter was a toddler. She has the most amazing bedside manner with children, and puts them instantly at ease. Her staff are some of the most patient and kind people I've seen in a clinic - I hope they read the review too and know that they are appreciated. I was very concerned about how my daughter would respond to dental extractions, but I needn't have worried. She trusts Dr. Michelle and knows that she can always ask questions if she feels anxious. Often, the procedure is over before my child realizes it's done. On two occasions when my daughter had injuries to her gums and inner cheek, Dr.Michelle gave us immediate appointments, (in one case, this was on a holiday weekend!) examined the injuries, and explained what steps we could take during the healing process. When it came time to find a dentist for my younger child, the decision was a no-brainer. He happily gets his cleanings done by Dr. Michelle. Behind the scenes, Dr. Michelle is excellent at coordinating care with my daughter's orthodontist, so that each provider knows what stage the treatment is at, and can decide when anything needs to change in their treatment plan. As a parent, it is very reassuring to know that my children's dental health is in her hands. Needless to say, I recommend this place highly. My son has struggled with severe dental anxiety. From screaming, crying and panicking during appointments to trying to run away. This office has seen it all with my little guy. This is every parents worse nightmare. But Dr. Grover and her team has shown him nothing but patience, compassion and understanding from day one. They never made us feel rushed or embarrassed. They offered him a blanket, spoke to him gently and handled every moment with calm professionalism. Dr. Grover and her team has been so incredibly wonderful. They truly care and I can see it in how they handle my son's anxiety. They have wiped his tears, high fived him and given him multiple treats. One of my son's teeth required a root canal and thanks to Dr. Grover and Veronica cheering him on, he was able to successfully have a crown put in place, which he loves! Office: Absolutely wonderful experience with everyone at Little Bytes! The office is bright, welcoming and fun - which is always a good start for the littles to walk into a happy space. I also like that it is a smaller office - what I would consider a typical size dentist office. I think its called Destination Smiles here in San Jose - there are like 50 chairs - or more, 10 people have offices for billing alone, its literally a chaotic zoo, which is part of the reason we could not keep going there, that was terrible experience (see review on them). But Little Bytes is perfect spot! People: Every person we interacted with, from checking-in, to the technicians who did our x-rays, to our hygienist and of course Dr. Grover - they were all awesome. This is our third dentist in 2 years as our son has a condition that makes it a bit challenging to go see the dentist. We need people who are patient and understanding, but more importantly we really wanted to find a place with the latest in dental techniques and of course the more modern equipment. Equipment: Our has a terrible gag reflex for x-rays, but they have the one that travels around their little faces so it gets a panoramic view and at least we could get a nice visual of his mouth without torturing him with the film! Everyone was just so kind and they didn't give up on him, just kept positive and were patient every step of the way. We do have to go back for some additional procedures to fill cavities, so fingers crossed its as smooth and seamless - oh and part of the reason I wanted this particular location was the use of laser, which it sounds like they use 50-50 as they do cavity work! Insurance: As far as insurance, Metlife Dental PPO is "in network" but they will bill your insurance for you, you do need to pay up front and the insurance will pay us back. I am used to this with the previous dentists, so this was not an issue - just more of a FYI for anyone with questions on how it all works! I believe you can submit any uncovered portions to FSA if you have one of those as well! Location: It's an easy enough spot in Palo Alto - not a ton of parking, but right off of Middlefield. For us though we are coming from San Jose, so that's a bit more challenging, but I will say yesterday was totally worth it and we look forward to completing our treatment plan with them! read more

A little bit of context: My daughter is six years old and is TERRIFIED about going to any doctor. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Michelle and this lovely dental clinic. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere. I am so grateful for Little Bytes and how much they do to adapt to my child's cues throughout the visit. My 5-yr-old is autistic and has been going here for a couple of years. While we know that a bottle of milk at bedtime isn't good for her teeth, it has become a coping mechanism at bedtime that helps her go back to sleep after night terrors and we haven't been able to successfully transition her to anything else. The hard part, she's more prone to cavities as a result. Now take the struggle of her rejecting just about every fluoride toothpaste we've tried (I think we're on option 14 now?) and dentist appointments are just about guaranteed to involve a lot - which, of course, is difficult for a 5-yr-old. But her dental hygienist, AJ, was so patient with my kiddo as this 5-yr-old excitedly told AJ about her day then AJ was able to pick up on and be sensitive to when my daughter began to shift to concern because she didn't want anything in her mouth. She repeatedly adapted throughout the cleaning with less scary ways to still work on her teeth and gave pause when my daughter needed a break. Though there were hard moments for about 15-30 seconds at a time, my daughter was happy and chatting again almost immediately after the work was done. The watermelon hair clips and strawberry squishy she got at the end helped too! Dr. Michelle was also fantastic and was mindful of both my daughter's dental history and current struggles. She was able to work quickly to check her teeth, let me know the concern (2 cavities ), provide recommended treatment and what to expect, then left it up to me to see whether I felt my daughter was in a place to move forward with the treatment or if we needed to schedule another visit so that she doesn't get overwhelmed. My daughter was surprisingly doing alright at that time, so we moved forward with the treatment. Not fun, obviously, but was so quick and within a few minutes, we were done! We were able to quickly schedule follow-up appointments and my daughter was happily chatting away as we left the office! The difference between difficult and traumatic can sometimes be such a fine line with kiddos with autism! But, Little Bytes Pediatrics is able to be sensitive to that, gauge the way that they can adapt, and still provide the necessary care to support kids with different needs. read more

I have two little boys (ages 8 and 4) that have been seeing both Dr. Michelle and Dr. Grover for the past several years. I can't say enough wonderful things about both doctors. The are extremely caring, knowledgeable, and have gone above and beyond for my family. In one instance, my oldest son was experiencing some tooth pain over a weekend. Today was my son's first dentist appointment and WOW, I cannot say enough great things about Little Bytes. My son is special needs (6YO) and standard appointments (at any provider) are not "standard" for us. As a result, this was his first ever dental appointment. We had been going here for years, but they change the insurance they accept way too frequently (even mid-year). Regular cleanings with X-rays for two kids can easily be $1K without insurance coverage. The non-negotiated rates are simply too expensive and I can't change my employer's dental insurance mid-year. read more

I have been holding off on writing anything negative but after I believe her now 5th or 6th (lost count) filling that has all fallen out within the last 2 years, I'm beyond upset. We initially left for many reasons. 1) The front desk issues, once told we no showed but it was due to an error on their end, our contact information was not put in correctly and we didn't get any confirmation. They cancelled us last min once due to a family emergency, but later told we were the ones that cancelled. When reminding them of the family emergency, they didn't own up and threatened to kick us out of the practice 2) their X-rays were down for 3 different visits 3) we went in for a cleaning, a couple weeks later I can't remember why but my daughter was having pain I think and we went back. She literally had 6-7 cavities that weren't caught at the visit prior, just a couple weeks prior 4) we were told by one doc they could do all the fillings at one time. When we went to schedule, front desk told us we had to book two separate appointments because they can't do everything they need to at one visit (they had to charge us two nitrous administration because of the 2 appointments) 5) they recommended us buy some strawberry paste since her one tooth was dark, $25. Our new dentist said it's not needed 6) my daughter was traumatized after the 2nd filling treatment. I'm not sure what happened but she had a huge sore on her lower inner lip after the visit and severe pain for 7 days while it healed. She could eat, drink, or brush her teeth without crying. She is so anxious now going to any dental visits. They used to complement that she was the easiest kid but now she's scared to death. I still feel such heartache when she reacts going to the dentist 7) her fillings started to fall out 2 months after the work was done. Each of her fillings have fallen out every few months requiring us to get it fixed. Not even 2 years and she just had another large filling fall out just a few weeks ago. We left right after she had her fillings done because their were just too many red flags and we no longer could trust Dr Michelle's staff and her work. Our daughter was so traumatized, she literally has to be pep talked to going to the dentist now. We were told by our new dentist that fillings should at least last a few years. They believe the work previously done was not adequate. Now, my poor daughter is again in pain and needing work on the filling that obviously wasn't done well. I have held off on writing but another filling has fallen out again. I am very upset with all the money, time, and energy we have spent dealing with this. read more

My children have been going to Little Bytes Pediatric Dental for about 5-6 years now and have always loved each visit. 3 strikes and we're out of there. 1) We showed up for an appointment a few minutes early only to wait an exceedingly long time for our kids' appointments. 2) We were billed for x-rays that didn't happen. We reached out to the office and was told it would be corrected, only to be billed again for the x-rays that didn't happen. 3) We arrived for our next appointment and were told they didn't have us on the schedule. It seems they mistakenly cancelled our appointment without our knowledge and for no reason. An acknowledgment of their mistake and an apology would have gone a long way and we received neither - just attitude from the front desk staff. We had such a great experience here! I took my son for his first dental check-up. He has special needs and gets very upset when doctors try to check him at any kind of medical appointments, so I was pretty nervous about how he would do at the dentist. Dr. Grover and her staff were amazing with my son. They were so patient and explained every little thing that they did. They paid very close attention to his reactions and didn't push too hard, but rather just enough to get him to comply with the basics of the check-up. They also knew lots of tactics for encouraging him to trust them and let them look at his teeth. We are also a bilingual family, and my son speaks and understands more Spanish than English, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many staff members spoke Spanish. I'm glad we went here for my son's first visit. Last year, I had to cancel his appointment at another dental practice because he didn't want to walk inside. But thankfully this place was so child friendly with lots of toys. We truly enjoyed every minute before during and after visit. When they were finished, they were able to get cute toys to play with in the car, so definitely a great place for little ones that are on the shy side. The practice lacks transparency. Procedures are not explained, billing is not explained. Our first visit we were not made aware to wait in the car until called. So of course when me and my 3 kids showed up we were rushed away saying we needed to stay in the car. And today, I questioned a bill and that was such a difficult task for the admin. Its my money, i need to know what I'm being charged for. The office itself is rather small and loud. I dont know whag sort of ventilation they're running, but it is LOUD. So loud that you are on the verge of yelling just to have a conversation. I am on the lookout for a better practice. The operative word being "better". This place is good but not the best. read more
