I stopped in yesterday to grab pizza before the Lions game. I usually stick to my go-to spot, but I…read morewanted to try this place because it's family-owned and everything looked great. I ordered a large Hawaiian pizza, a large cheeseburger pizza, and a small round build-your-own pizza. I was genuinely impressed by how good the pizza was. The square pizza was excellent in every way, and the crust was especially well done. My grandfather enjoyed it as well he particularly loved the cheeseburger pizza. The Thousand Island sauce really sets it apart and offers a nice change of pace from traditional pizza. I was disappointed to find out I missed the Full Rack collaboration with the Alabama white sauce and brisket, but maybe it will come back one day. I'll definitely be returning this place is the real deal.

I typically like to customize my own pizza, but Johnny Z's specialty pizzas are where it's at. A…read morecouple of my go-tos are the dill pickle and the bacon cheeseburger. The BBQ brisket pizza is easily my favorite, but it's unfortunately not a regular menu item. In 2022, Johnny Z's collaborated with Bad Brad's BBQ for the brisket pizza. In 2024 and 2025, Johnny Z's brought it back, collaborating with Full Rack Barbecue instead. I've also tried the cheese bread and the boneless wings. I've had the cheese bread twice now, and it's about what you'd expect it to be. I will say, the first time I had it was better than the second. I recommend getting the garlic butter dip. As for the wings, they were just okay, but I'd be willing to give them another try. All things considered, Johnny Z's is a solid, local pizza place, and is better than your typical pizza chain.

Living in Chicago back in the day, and working in NYC and Boston, I've had some really good pies,…read morebut this was pure heaven. So, now I'm thinking those other pies weren't hell, but maybe purgatory, which made this pie even better. As for the establishment, it was clean and friendly. The parking lot was spacious. Most importantly, I went to the store and placed an order. The young cashier in a camo Tigers hat kept apologizing for something wrong with their system and the wait time. I told him, "Look, no need, I'm off the clock, so I'm happy not to be working." Besides, I'd rather them take their time and make it right instead of feeling obligated to make it quick and in a hurry. Again, a friendly place. While I'm in town, I'm definitely returning for another pie. The bottom line is that during these tough times, try to give local businesses a chance instead of these chain restaurants. You might be surprised that they're not just good, but better.

Best pizza I've had in years. I wanted pizza but was tired of the usuals and Ray's had great…read morereviews. When I picked it up I told the awesome gentleman behind the counter that I'd heard good things. He said "if you hear good things, then say good things." Great advice, so here it it. We got two pizza's, the all meat and the spinach and feta, plus some garlic knots (which were great). I'm not usually a fan of all meat pizza but this was different. The sausage is not overpowering and it's not in huge clumps dotted around the pizza. It's ground fine, seasoned perfectly so it doesn't drown everything out and the other meats are equally balanced. No pepperoni that burns your soul or anything else that draws your attention away from just how good the slice really is. Even the sauce was perfection. We usually order light sauce from every place but wanted to try the first order 'as is' and we're glad we did. Not too much or too little. The second pizza we ordered was spinach and feta. Although I decided I didn't care for the cooked spinach (personal preference only) that one was equally as delicious. I cannot emphasize enough how fresh everything tasted. I don't care what anyone says. Freshness matters. You CAN taste the difference. From now on, Ray's is our pizza place. No question. Give them a try. You won't regret it. And like the man said. "If you hear good things, say good things'".
