Great take away fried chicken spot! I got a full 8 piece and fries. Chicken was well done. Juicy inside and crispy outside. Breading was lighter than many and very neutral in flavor. Enormous amount of fries which were like chicken. Crispy outside and tender in. And NOT greasy. For me neutral flavor was a positive but depends on individual taste. Service was quick and responsive. I arrived as it opened so it was great. Prices in line with value. Waiting was at a counter. Could also eat there but very limited seating. Very clean which I thought a great attribute. read more

I'm a chicken shack girl, the original is down the street from my childhood home.. That said, I can't believe I'm saying this: The Chicken Place is so, so much better that CS. I was surprised. I'm very loyal to certain places based on years of being a patron. Let's talk about why: 1) The crunch is sold. The skin/outer fry layer was still pipping hot when we got home. 2) The chicken was flavorful and juicy. I'm not a huge fried chicken person, I'm moving into a new home and it was on the way. It took them 15 minutes to produce this goodness. Oh honorable mention: the potato's. Only con: I asked for them well and extra butter and neither were done. Which could of been me too.. I love coming across local mom and pop establishments that have survived for decades simply by offering delicious home-style grub at a reasonable price. The Chicken Place in Roseville is that type of restaurant. On Super Bowl Sunday, I stopped by The Chicken Place for the first time to satisfy some comfort food cravings, and it did not disappoint. The Chicken Place is very popular with locals. Lots of orders were being placed before the game, most of them were take-out, and only two workers making the food and dealing with the cash register. I only had to wait 20 minutes for my food to be made to order, and the worker was very nice despite being busy ringing up orders and helping the cook in the kitchen. I ordered the Broasted Chicken Dinner for $9.75. My dinner came with broasted potatoes, a bread roll, and a cup of manufactured cranberry sauce. The broasted chicken and potatoes were very good and steaming hot right out of the pressure fryer. I can't decide if I prefer broasted to fried chicken, but I thought the skin was crispy and not super greasy, and the meat was moist. My favorite part of the meal was the broasted potatoes that were brushed with a homemade butter sauce. The only suggestion I would make is switching from using Styrofoam containers to environmentally friendly biodegradable containers. This is also because the food is so hot that it burns right through the Styrofoam. read more

The chicken is fine, the ribs were ok, the potatoes were also fine. Nothing overwhelming, nothing amazing and certainly not on oar with Chicken Shack, (which is an issue for them as they try to insult them on their menu). This biggest issue here? Customer service. I'm not sure if it is a husband and wife team, but they are each NOT a people person. The male was rude and short to my wife when she ordered, the female was short and didn't seem like she cared about me when I picked up the order. And we ordered a little bit of everything to try the place out. She sets down half my order and walks away... I wait for a full minute to see if there was more, seemed a little light, then walked away. As I almost get to the door, hear a nasty "there's more here". Hey, great... Maybe you could have said that while I was waiting at the counter. And their fish comes out of a frozen box... its not good. Mediocre food and bad customer service by what appears to be the owners. Seasoning is quite subtle, and it plays to chicken meat being the highlight of the fried chicken. Potato wedges, broasted and lightly brushed with butter, also accents the flavor of the potatoes. The skin and outer layer of potato wedges get crispy, which is hard to achieve through conventional frying method. My 12 pc dark meat combo came w potatoes and coleslaws. I have lived by this establishment for 25 years and finally went in. Why I waited so long is beyond me. I tried it on a whim and I am so glad I did. The broasted chicken was fantastic , broasted perfectly ,not greasy at all. The potatoes were broasted too. They were very good. The coleslaw was very creamy and very tasty. The chicken and coleslaw are very good. Crispy, crunchy, juicy chicken, but not greasy like the competitors. The coleslaw is not vinegar-tasting, But more Similar to KFC but not as big of chunks of cabbage. There is also no pieces of carrot in it which I do enjoy from KFC. I think it needs a little bit more flavor but it's not bad. I just add a little bit of salt and pepper. My huge tray of roasted potatoes was overcooked which was a big disappointment because we were looking forward to those. Some of them you couldn't even bite into they were so hard like a rock. I might call them today to see if they'll take them back because it was a huge tray that whatever we put on our plate we had to throw out and we haven't touched sense. But the decor is very cool in there (barn vibe) and the staff is very friendly. They are extremely busy so call your order in ahead. I was able to chat with the cook what I believe is the owner, and they've been there a very long time, and I also asked how much chicken they go through which was an insane amount that I don't remember!! WARNING: HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! This is my go-to Chicken joint. It's been here seemingly forever and I have it on good word that it will be around for a very long time to come. The Chicken here is Broasted, that's kind of like a deep fryer and pressure cooker all rolled into one, and you can taste the magnificent difference. The flavor is throughout the bird and it's equally moist and tender without any hint of dryness or undercooking. Just right. As great as the Chicken is, what really makes it are the Potato Wedges, also Broasted, that taste phenomenal. I haven't had the Ribs yet, but I hear good things! This is a Carry-Out, no real place to sit. Lot's of kitsch decor like toys and knick-knacks on the walls and most of the building is taken up by their tricked out kitchen, where you can watch them do everything. Various sodas and Gatorade in the fridge if you're thirsty and the Cole Slaw is pretty good too. They do Catering if you're having a birthday party or corporate get together and these guys will go out of their way to accommodate whatever your needs are. Hands down best chicken place in town! I always pick up Thai food next door and always wondered why this place next to it was always so busy. Now I know haha. Ordered a 12 piece bucket with potatoes and coleslaw and they did not disappoint. Crack head good! No kidding! I ordered the 4pcs dinner. It came with potato wedges, a roll, some jam and I got a sprite as well. Looks like it's a family run business and it taste every bit as good as grandma's recipe! They have a dinning counter you can sit at while you wait or eat there. It was warm as I don't think they do AC, but wow the food:) I got mine fresh out of the frier and it was some of the best, juiciest, tender chicken ever.
