My son attended Little Cricket Academy full time from age 3 to 5 and then attended their before/after school care from Kindergarten through 1st Grade. In that time, we feel that the staff at Little Cricket has become like family to us. Some of the things we love about Little Cricket: The owners, Erika and Frankie, are extremely hands on. One of them is present every single day. They are in constant contact with parents and were always helpful in working around our schedules. I never had to worry if I was stuck in traffic on my way to pick up my son. There was not one second when I doubted my son's safety. The center is clean, safe, welcoming and well-staffed. I knew my son was well taken care of and supervised when he was there. The teachers at Little Cricket are very caring and loving. The children are given breakfast, lunch and snacks that are always healthy and can be tailored to any special diet/allergy. They are also knowledgable in early childhood education. My son loved every staff member there! Their curriculum covers letter/number recognition, countless art projects, music education, home work help, science projects, physical education and so on. The children also learn social skills and a strong working concept of right and wrong. Because of Little Cricket, my son was well prepared for Kindergarten. The Little Cricket Staff takes the time and energy to create a genuine family feel to their school. They celebrate the birthdays of staff and children, they do projects for the various holidays, go on trips, take the students trick or treating for Halloween and so much more. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Little Cricket. Choosing a child care provider is a scary and daunting experience. Our son was 6 months old when he joined Little Crickets and neither he himself nor we wanted him to leave in the following 4 1/2 years. He is leaving after a wonderful graduation celebration for Kindergarten in September - for which he is very well prepared. I looked at a lot of bigger, seemingly more institutional or "professional" and well known daycare places for my child before I found Little Crickets, also through a parent recommendation during a playground visit. I didn't want to give my kid into the hands of those bigger places - after all he was still a baby. Little Cricket's with a family behind it that loves and lives for the children seemed to be ideal for my situation then, as they they have created a little home for the children. It is not just a daycare, it is a family. The owners, Erika and Frankie are very patient, loving people, always trying to improve their program - with a big awareness of environmental and nutritional aspects, which they integrate in their daily routines. Their standards of teaching fulfill all the requirements to get the children ready for Kindergarten, while they still have enough time to just be children, play and spend a lot of time outside in their beautiful backyard - and in the summer with a lot of educational and fun day trips.They get body awareness through yoga and dancing activities, their fine motor skills are being practiced with numerous pre-school activities and projects that are designed for younger and older kids alike. The projects they bring home almost daily include hand and footprints, that make wonderful memories for the whole family and remind you how time flies, while you realize you would never have the time to do all this with your kid at home. I treasure them dearly. With Little Crickets you can be sure that your child is in competent and caring hands and you will still not have the feeling you are missing out too much on their early years, as you get all those little memories in the evening plus an almost daily feedback on their progress and behavior. The staff is caring and committed, on average younger than in most of the institutions I have visited - and I think that is positive in the sense of them being more aware, happier and closer to the kids. They will sing and dance and play with them while still helping them to live in an environment with social interaction, rules and times or tasks to stick to. As you can see, I am full of praise for this place - this little daycare (with a great after-school program) has set a high standard and you will have a well-rounded, happy child - ready for Kindergarten, should you decide to go this way. They create such a warm and happy environment for kids of all ages. My daughter has been going since she was 4.5 months old, and now she's about to have her first birthday.
