Upon recommendation from others we tried Little Dave's pizza on a Friday evening. It was medium busy but we were staying in a rental cabin during the offseason. I could imagine this place would be packed during normal summer season. The pizza was good. The dough was great, the toppings were good and the mozzarella could use more seasoning but we added the red pepper flakes and grated Parmesan that they served with the pizza. The atmosphere was an open room with tables similar to a dining hall. The server was very friendly and the clientele looked like locals or regulars. There's not a lot of restaurant choices in the area and this one seemed to get all of the business which tells you either how good this place is or something about the others. I'm leaning on how good this place is. They have t-shirts with the business name which to me is a sign of success if people are willing to buy shirts advertising your business name. Before our trip to Rough River Dam State Park Resort I looked up where we would be dining out. Little Dave's seemed to have the best reviews and wifey was in the mood for pizza. We found the restaurant and it has a real humble country appeal to it with neat sayings on the walls. There were 4 or 5 staff onboard and a moderate amount of business coming and going. We ordered a "The Works" pizza which has everything on it, save the kitchen sink. We had them hold the pineapple, bacon and beef. We went for everything else. The pizza had little bitty pieces of items on it which was fine with me. Wifey thought it lacked seasoning, but they provided a spice in a bottle which really gave the pizza a kick. I also added sprinkle cheese, red pepper flakes and Frank's Hot sauce. My slices lacked nothing. The servers and other staff were cordial and informative about their menu and the area. Wifey and I shared a Strawberry Crunch cake which resembled the ice cream bars of same name. It was good. I would have it again. I bought a Peanut Butter Thunder cake and World's Greatest Chocolate cake to go for later. Wifey ate her PB cake and I ate choco cake. They were also good, especially World's Greatest Chocolate Cake. I would order that again. I trust we will be back for something else before heading home in a couple days. They have fish, steak and other items to try another time. read more

We've been coming here for years. The service and quality of the food has really gone down. Today, they had one server responsible for all the tables. A customer actually got up and cleaned off tables for her because the lady at the counter wasn't doing it. We waited almost an hour for two cheese pizzas and two burgers with fries. The pizzas were hot, which is the only reason this isn't a 1-star review. The fries were cold and inedible. The burgers were obviously frozen patties that had no flavor. Very down home feel when eating here. Menu has a little bit of everything and a good majority has a good home cooked feel. I would note on occasion food can seem under seasoned but still good. Prices are very reasonable. Our favorite item to get is the breakfast pizza, it's is always a crowd pleaser and make breakfast easy on days you don't feel like cooking. Not much in town, this however was a good stop. Service or I should say arrival of the food was miserably slow, luckily we were not in a rush. The food did arrive hot to our table. Sweet tea was extra good and will say refills kept coming, the service was friendly and the restaurant was full. You can get breakfast, lunch or dinner. Catfish was cooked perfectly and had a nice crisp cornmeal batter. My cornbread was a pancake, odd presentation and it was not hot. The green beans a bit over seasoned and overcooked, green beans are a roll of the dice when dining out. The family had a nice weekend at Rough River and decided to check out Little Dave's. It is a good little place with several options on there menu. The 3 year old was super excited to see breakfast pizza, something he asks for all the time. Most of the table ordered the catfish special and while they said the sides were nothing to write home about the catfish was really good. They have different specials each day, according to our server. I got the grilled cheese and it hit the spot. Our services was good, the bathrooms were clean and the staff was all friendly. We (hubby &i) went there on a Saturday breakfast and it was great!! We just did the buffet breakfast. It was small but had everything you need for a country breakfast. Very fresh and the staff was super friendly and refilled coffee when needed. However, went back that some night. Of course it was busy so we sat at a dirty table but a young man cleaned it off quickly. Then nothing. We waiting about 15 mins. No one greeted us, asked about drinks, nothing. So we left. So this is our second time here in about 3 1/2 weeks. First time was ok I guess. First time was ok. Party of 8. Food was ok. Service was slow. Now we are back (only because there are really no other options in this area) and the service is even worse than before. And there really isn't anyone here. We got here around 5pm on a Friday. There are 4 of us. 2 adults and 2 kids. We ordered 2 catfish sandwiches, 1 BBQ pork sandwich and 1 cod sandwich. About 10 mins after we sat down and ordered, a party of 8 came in. They all ordered a variety from pizza, platters, sandwiches and even appetizers. Please tell me how their food came out before ours? And we are still eating because we just got our food and the party of 8 is already done and leaving. And I want to add... the BBQ Pork sandwich is dreadful! So is the Mac n Cheese! The consistency of the Pork feels like the moss at the bottom of Rough River Lake. Literal slop. I really wish there were more restaurant options around this area. Hug!
