It's in an unnoticed area with other small shops behind a gas station. The little store was so organized and so. clean. !!! Even the books were arranged by COLOR. Gawd. XD Pretty things were displayed neatly on either wall. They only had maybe 3-4 racks of clothes. They had a small selection of bags in the corner. Needless to say I left in less than 5 minutes because I didn't see anything good despite the cleanliness. If you want to donate, you have to take your car to the back of the store. They don't accept donations at the front door.

The park…read moreitself is great, it has a baseball diamond, soccer fields, basketball courts and even areas for children to play in. It's well-kept and no suspicious characters were around. Right next to the park there's a community center that has, amongst other things, a small library on the 2nd floor, a trophy room to showcase the local youth teams' accomplishments, a conference room, amongst other things. Truly a stellar facility for a great city. 10/10

I returned today to get my taxes done with VITA and during my time waiting, I got such a strong sense of community from the employees to the community members. The volunteer workers were so helpful and informative and I ended up needing to use services from the library to print out some missing forms. The librarian was so helpful, too, and the library was so cute and kept well. I noticed there were people on their way to a fitness class, so I'm curious about that. There was just so much love and good energy in this center. I highly recommend coming here, I definitely want to make my way back.

This is a place where you can admire an art display made of tires, a sowing machine powered by a bicycle, a moving dining table powered by six bicycles and talk to the artist. At first I thought they only offered classes for children, but I looked through their website and there it was, classes for adults! I was hyped! The projects looked so cute. I wanted to learn the basics. Woodworking is pretty fun, but you also have to be patient. Blue, the instructor, was super awesome! She gave a lot of suggestions and was supportive in whatever you wanted to create (as long as they had the tools and materials available). They offer the class inside one of their school buses (very spacious, looks really cool). I would go again if my schedule permitted it.

I've been shopping this Salvation Army pretty regularly for a few years now and the men's section…read moreat least has really gone downhill. They used to have a pretty sizable, well-organized men's selection but after re-organizing the store, the men's selection is maybe 1/4 the size of what it was. What does remain is terribly organized--wrong sizes abound in S/M/L sections, and the men's pants are now nearly 50% obviously women's pants (Easy to tell by the cut and sizing, size 12 instead of 34/30 or whatever). I can understand a few "misfiles" of women's clothes in the men's section, that happens everywhere, but for almost half of the pants to obviously be women's clothing? That's either a complete lack of care or someone really trying to abolish gender norms in clothes. Which I guess I'm all for in theory, but it does make it frustrating to browse and ascertain sizing. There are also no dressing rooms (again, this is every corporate thrift store post-COVID, and I guess I get the reasons but its still annoying) and they removed the only mirror in the men's section to put up display wiring on the wall--which they've yet to attach anything to months later. Chaotic and disorganized, this went from one of my favorite thrift stores in NELA to my least.

If you are a fan of the Huntington Collection in Pasadena, you'll be sure to love the Bargain Box. Just like the Huntington Collection, I can't call it a thrift shop since it's not like any thrift shops I've been to! Looks more like an expensive antique shop when you step inside. I was blown away by the quality of the available merchandise, especially the housewares and decor. It's very evident that all of the pieces on sale were meticulously cleaned and staged by the hardworking staff. All of the furniture and housewares are excellent condition, not to mention very well priced. Make a point to visit before Halloween! The store is all decked out with Halloween decor! The Bargain Box is managed by the Assistance League of Arcadia, and one of their worthy endeavors is Operation School Bell, which provides much needed clothing as well as school supplies such as backpacks and books to children in need in neighboring local schools. There's a small parking lot but there should be plenty of street parking available if needed. Also, be aware that the store has limited hours since it's managed by volunteers. It's only open two days a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm.
