Super convenient place hosting our Summer/2024 PCC Business courses. There has been ample street parking and finally found plaza parking yesterday upon my arrival. Super friendly staff. I'll be around for more future Business courses.

Weight room is well-stocked with dumbbells, barbells, etc (ellipticals/treadmills off screen here). Locker rooms with showers are available.

One of Pasadena's best kept secrets is the high quality, affordable fitness classes offered by the city Parks and Recreation department. These are available at several convenient locations around the city including Villa Parke, Robinson Park, and Victory Park. You can read about the classes currently being offered here: https://pasadena.civicrec.com/CA/pasadena-ca/catalog At the same page, you can also buy a membership to the Villa Parke gym for $65 per 6 months (Pasadena residents age 19-49) and only $25 for ages 15-17 or 50+. Prices are higher (but still a steal) for non-residents ($50/$130 for six months). Rates are the same for the Robinson Park gym membership. The fitness class coaches are knowledgeable and encouraging for all kinds of athletes. I'm currently taking the 210 Elite fitness class, which is really fun and challenging. The class meets for one hour, twice a week for 8 weeks (only $90). In that class, we warm up then rotate through 10 stations four times. I like that the stations are different each week, so it to gives us a variety of challenges. Instruction is primarily in English, but Coach Erik is always happy to give additional tips in Spanish if preferred. Most exercises can be adapted to make them easier as you're building strength, just watch out for Coach Emiliano who loves to come around and sneakily encourage you on how to make the exercises harder :-).

Excited to see my son's day camp showcase :)

Looks can be deceiving. Villa Parke Community Center is a hidden gem for the community. Although the park may seem rough around the edges the city has really began to clean it up. This is the 3rd year my son has attended their summer camp, and he enjoys it more than any other city park camp. The facilities are well kept, air conditioned, and have many amenities such as tennis courts, pool, library, community garden. Furthermore, they offer a variety of enrichment activities from toddlers to senior ages in the community. Prices are very reasonable and some activities are free. They also have a WIC office on site, sometimes have donated food (fruits, vegetables) for the community, and host health / wellness clinics/activities. Staff is very courteous and polite as well. The only things is parking can get tricky in both the small parking lot and residential area. Tip: Tuesday's they host a Farmers Market so parking is really full in the morning. We will definitely be back next year for summer camp. Price cannot be beat and the kids enjoy swimming, cooking/nutrition class, wacky science, lego robotics, dance and amazing field trips once per week. Breakfast and lunch are also provided for summer day camp kids.

New turf fields :) teammate winding up for the shot (that went in!)

If you're looking for a workout that gets you sweating without any judgment, this is the perfect spot--no matter your size, shape, or fitness level. The classes focus on technique and fitness, so you're not sparring or fighting anyone. Mauricio, the owner, is incredibly welcoming and sweet, which makes the whole experience even better. I've been attending consistently and have already noticed a positive shift in how I feel about my body. Plus, it's such a great way to release any aggression! There's nothing like the satisfying thud of a solid punch on the bag. If you're thinking about trying kickboxing, I can't recommend this gym enough--it's motivating, empowering, and a total game-changer :)

The classes are very fun and beginner friendly yet challenging. Each coach has their own style of teaching and will go through different combo exercises and conditioning workout. The coaches adjust the level of difficulty based on the level of students that show up for that specific class. Regardless what the level of student, each class will guarantee an amazing workout that pushes the mind(learning different boxing skills) and the body. The gym is very clean and has a small free weights section attached to it. Not only can one improve his/her boxing skill, one can lift weights and get stronger and fitter as well. All coaches are very qualified. Some have been boxing for decades and some are pro fighters. I have taken some private classes. I had nothing but amazing sessions. The price is very reasonable as well. $150 for basic gym membership which includes all classes and all access to the entire gym. $250 is the next level up which is what I have. It includes two 1hr private sessions per months which is easily $200 plus at other boxing gyms. Also, a pair of hand wraps and boxing gloves will be provided when signing up. Another $100 value. Personally, I lost 25 lbs since I joined the gym and on my way to my first sparring session. Shark Boxing is just AWESOME!!! For anyone who is hesitating, don't. You won't regret join this gym.

The experience was motivating, challenging, and inspiring enough that I've already decided to come back, join, and continue learning. The coaches clearly care about each person's progress, and that level of detail makes a huge difference. I would highly recommend anyone interested in boxing or improving their fitness to give this gym a try--you'll be impressed from the very first session.

I have been coming to Krav Maga Unleashed for about two years…read more I have grown very stroked to come to class, in large part because all the teachers are so good. I'm a university professor so I am very familiar with the art of teaching and I really pay attention to how other people do it. And all the teachers are awesome. They explain everything very clearly, are totally present, pay attention to what the students are doing and give detailed feedback. And the the fact that they put in the effort makes all the students try harder.. Plus, it's a physical and mental work out that really adds to my quality of life so thank you. Hopefully I won't have to use any of this knowledge in the future, but I feel much better knowing that I know how to. Definitely 5 stars

I used to have a much more positive view of this Krav Maga gym, but unfortunately it has gone…read moresignificantly downhill and is now in a noticeable state of disarray. The biggest issues are poor management and a lack of clear organization. Communication is inconsistent, newsletters routinely come out late, and administrative follow-through is unreliable. Even basic things like belt test certificates have been delayed by more than a year after the actual test, which speaks to deeper operational problems. There also appears to be a steady decline in membership, which is not surprising given the current state of the gym. The environment feels less structured and less cohesive than it used to be. From a technical standpoint, Krav Maga here feels like a "jack of all trades, master of none." This is an inherent trait of Krav Maga, but if you're going to steal from other martial arts, you should know the pure form of the art as well (at least at the instructor level) to demonstrate the cleanest technique and explain why you're doing certain things. As a result, students get surface-level exposure rather than real proficiency in any one area. If you are looking for strong fundamentals or mastery of a specific discipline, this is not the place. I have also heard repeated concerns about instructors not being properly compensated. Allegedly, some people taught for long periods with little or no pay, which raises serious questions about how the gym treats its staff and values their time. To be clear, this gym was never the best even at its peak, but it was at least better run in the past. At this point, the lack of organization, declining quality, and management issues make it difficult to recommend. I hope they take a hard look at what is happening and make meaningful changes, because right now it feels like a gym that has lost its direction.

I've wanted a place that made me look forward to going and not finding reasons to skip out. After some time with ClassPass, a 45-day workout challenge and a dozen-full of memorable buddy pass classes later, I finally made a decision I've been happy with since. Basecamp for the win. Love their lower to upper to full body workout schedule, the alternation between cardio and strength, the change/rotation of class layouts, their equipment, and of course, the instructors and team themselves. Special appreciation for the 9am goers because they became a solid community for me when I was going through some post-grad life transitions and turbulence. Somehow, when I was considering what to properly invest in while sacrificing to save money from other things, this was a good alternative investment that has sparked back some love for workout classes again.
