Update* The business reached out to me the following Monday and apologized for the inconvenience and the disappointing interaction with the staff. In addition, they refunded the cost of my canoe. I appreciate the customer service! * This will be the last time I give any money to this business. After being a faithful customer for at least 10 years (probably much longer as we never went to the other business on the river) this visit was not worth the money I paid. We were given a broken paddle, that we did not realize was broken until the drop off location. Per their documentation they will charge you for a broken or missing paddle, so we opted to just take one and gave the other back to the driver as they didn't have an extra to give us. It wasn't so bad until very close to the exit and we did flip, loosing shoes and many other things. Flipping is a known hazard with one or two paddles, but my complaint is the customer service. In the past, there have always been staff ready to pull you in as you approach the exit. Not this time! This time, my son was waiting to pull us in as the staff meandered their way down the hill. One blonde gentlemen was reading something off his phone and literally never put it down until I said "can you put down the phone and help pull us in!" He was rude and told me to go back and get my one paddle out off the canoe (with his phone still in hand and me carrying bags and without shoes because they washed down the river). One very helpful staff member said he would grab it for me and he did. When I returned to get my deposit back, they didn't offer any type of compensation for the ONE paddle and really didn't seem to care about their staff and the poor service (again, one out of 3 or 4 staff was very helpful and extremely polite). read more

just had the worst experience in coustomer service. it was around 2:15 when me and my boyfriend arrived, we had looked online, it said they were open until 7 and said nothing about needing an appointment to be there. we walked up to the building with three workers. two were sitting in the deck areas and one man was behind the counter. all of them ignored us. the man behind the counter finally decided to acknowledge us, asked if we had an called and made an appointment to which my boyfriend replied "no sir" and the man very rudely snapped back "yes sir" in a sarcastic tone and said "that's why you should call ahead, you need an appointment and we're done for the day." it's not even 3 pm. online it says open until 7. the people were very rude and uninviting. i don't think i'll be trying again, or recommending to friends. read more

This is a great spot to go to for kayaking and canoeing. They have trips that range from 2 to 18 miles. The people here are very nice and helpful with getting you signed in and in the water. You can bring dogs with you as well! It cost 3 of us $64 to kayak the six mile trip. Couldn't be happier. read more

Little Miami Canoe Rental - Rafting/Kayaking Near Me - Morrow, Ohio

I have done tubing down rivers in the past, but I don't recall ever doing canoeing, so I guess I can say this was my first time doing this particular activity. Little Miami Canoe Rental is fairly close to the Mason/Lebanon area. It was only a short drive for us and we got there around 9 AM. The prices vary depending on your group size; the larger your group the cheaper the cost per person is for standard 2 person canoe. We brought our pet on and there were no questions asked about him, so it was a fun activity to do with him :) We did the 6-mile trip and it took us about 2.5 hours since we were slowly drifting at some point. This particular portion of the river isn't very exciting and there are some very slow spots. A couple of rapids here and there, but there's more of a chance to get stuck than there is to flip over. Overall, the canoes are in good condition and (smell your life jacket first, mine stunk of sweat..) and the owners/employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely a good way to spend a morning and not too expensive either. Great change of scenery for a picnic too :) Just remember to put on sunscreen! read more

The canoe trip was nice. However, I have called this canoe rental quite a few times. Every time I call I speak to the same lady. She has an attitude, is very unfriendly, and seems very apathetic. Maybe she's miserable at her job. That is why I give little miami canoe only 3 stars. The last time I decided to go canoeing I called little miami canoe to check the conditions as I usually do. Once again I got the unfriendly, rude, and apathetic lady on the phone. So i decided on a whim to call morgans canoe ( even though i had always canoed with little miami in the past.) The lady on the phone at morgans was very friendly, helpful, and cheerful. So I haven't been back to little miami rental since. I'd go to morgans canoe instead. read more

Most definitely will return! A friend and I decided to shoot for a 10 mile canoe trip on my recent visit to Cincinnati. Apparently this is the place to go, and I can see why! We experienced really sweet, attentive service the whole time-- it was fantastic. The restrooms are also very clean and well maintained. On our drive up the river, the guide even described in detail the mile markers we should be looking for and gave us a heads up on what to do should it start raining. Extremely friendly, down-to-earth people. Can't wait to return! read more

Since we are from Miami, Florida, we couldn't miss an opportunity to go canoeing down the Little Miami river! The nice people were helpful on the phone and in person. Properly concerned about the age of my children and their ability to paddle a canoe. Joey paddles a kayak by herself during summer camp though, so I explained we were good. The office is downriver. A van shuttles you and your canoe/kayak to a point upriver and helps you get started. Then you paddle (or not, when the river is flowing good, like it was for us) downstream to the office. TL;DR rude from minute one, gave bad info/no info and blamed customers for it, went back on what they said. This past weekend I came to the Dayton area to visit my friend and she had planned on us taking a trip here to go tubing. She called in advance on Wednesday to ask questions and see if she needed to make a reservation for 3, and spoke to someone who told her that the tubes are only offered on Saturday and Sunday, but that their season was really starting to die off and we shouldn't have to worry about a reservation, just to call back on the morning of our trip to make sure the weather wouldn't be inclement. On the morning of we tried to call 4 times, got a busy signal the first time but 3 times after that no one answered. After checking the weather ourselves, we headed there anyway. We were immediately met by rudeness when we inquired about getting the tubes. They belittled my friend and wouldn't believe her that she called on Wednesday even after she showed them the call log on her phone, and also explained that we called repeatedly in the morning and no one was bothering to pick up. The woman who appeared to be the manager first said there were no tubes available if we didn't have a reservation but we could switch to kayaks because they had openings and we were disappointed but prepared to do that. They told us we needed a cash deposit and made us feel dumb for not having it because it was posted on their website, but when we had called for information there was no mention of it. Ive worked in customer service for 10 years myself and I never assume someone who is calling to ask me for info and prepare for something has already been to my website and knows everything...so backwards. We shrugged it off and said no problem still, then asked for directions to an ATM, which the manager pretended like she didn't know where to find. It was odd to us that they are supposedly an established family business that always requires cash deposits but doesn't know that there's an atm at the gas station on the corner? We left one of our group behind to begin filling out the paperwork and quickly drove to get the money. We were gone for less than 5 minutes and in that time the same manager decided to go back on everything she just said on a whim and not allow us on the kayaking trip at all, even though she had just said it wasn't leaving yet and there were still spots. We ended up going to a spot in Loveland called Loveland canoe and kayak where the girls at the desk were so helpful and friendly. They fit us in for a kayak group at 2:30 and walked us through the check in/waiver progress on their website. If you want to be taken care of and treated with respect skip over little Miami and go straight to Loveland. read more

Show up at Little Miami Canoe Rental on Saturday and rent a canoe for the afternoon. Bring a picnic and stop off at one of the many shady spots along the river. Not feeling athletic? No problem. The river current will float you back to the parking lot before closing time. Enjoy the local wildlife, too. Not the four-legged critters you might be imagining, but groups of people worth people-watching, like hyper-competitive boy scouts and canoe veterans who loudly instruct their kids on how to hide booze from the law (Pro tip: Paddle like mad). We tried renting kayaks, but the previously-mentioned boy scout troop had snatched them all up before we arrived. So the early scout gets the kayak. One weird thing about the place is that they want a $20 deposit to ensure you'll bring the canoe back. I don't know about you, but if I wanted to make off with a canoe, I wouldn't be checked by the thought of losing $20. We didn't have any cash, so they kept our vehicle key instead. Kayaked twice in the past couple weeks and this place is great. Very friendly staff and helpful. The river is enjoyable and you can either take your time or race down the river. Either way it's beautiful and a couple of areas where you can dock and chill out or jump in the water if you like. Haven't tried the tubing or rafting but it looks cool. read more

We went here for a Boy Scout trip and had a great time. The kayaks and canoes were in good condition. The 6 mile ride took less than 3 hours and included a stop for lunch. They had precautions in place to clean oars and life vests between use. We also camped on their campgrounds. The spot was very serene in the trees overlooking the river. The staff was friendly and came by to check on our group a few times. The port a potty on site was well stocked and clean. Side note: You can order firewood in advance when making your reservation and they will deliver it to you. read more

We were looking for a fun activity for a Sunday afternoon, so my husband and I decided to give kayaking a try. It seems like quite a few places in the area only offer canoe and kayak "tours" and we just wanted to go out on the river and do our own thing, so Little Miami Canoe Rental was a perfect fit. We opted for kayaks and did the 6-mile trip, since we got there just before 3p.m. We went to the Oregonia location first, but they were only offering 2-mile trips at that time, so they offered to call ahead for us to the Morrow location so they knew we were coming to go out on the river for a longer trip. The staff was friendly and helpful with everything from selecting a kayak to pushing us off the shore and into the river to get started. I have rented from 3 different liveries on the Little Miami River and Little Miami Canoe Rental is by far my favorite. The staff is always friendly and helpful, prices are good and the equipment is in good condition. At check-in they will help you choose the right canoe or kayak and the right paddle for you. The drivers always check with their passengers on the drive upriver to determine experience level, advice needed, et cetera, and to give the latest report on any paddling hazards or shallow spots to avoid. LMCR has 2 locations on this river (Morrow and Oregonia). I usually go to Morrow and take the 6 mile trip, which puts in at Ft. Ancient. An average trip takes 3 1/2 hours if I paddle just enough to maintain steerage. More or less paddling makes the trip shorter or longer. Sometimes I'll make the 10 mile trip that puts in at their Oregonia location and travels past Ft. Ancient. That adds about 1 1/2 hours to the 6 mile trip. The section of river for both of those trips is very nice - not too wide and deep, but with usually enough water to make the trip enjoyable. There are lots of gravel bars and places to stop for lunch or to stretch your legs. I like the peace, quietness and coolness of the river when I show up at opening time. If you prefer more sun and more socializing, show up an hour before lunch time. read more
