I came here because someone posted a picture of some birds that I wanted to photograph. Didnt see the birds I came for but there were some geese and turtles.. happened to see some snakes but that was just lucky. It's free to come here but if you want to fish i think you need a license or permit. There's a building right there with someone in a uniform. I think he might have been checking for fishing permits. We were the only one there without a fishing pole.

The lake is small, yet a nice touch. Made to look at, and fish from. It's too small for boating. There is a gazebo, benches and a porch swing to relax, and enjoy the view. A peninsula juts out with picnic tables and grills. It appears to be a popular place to fish from. Fishing here is catch and release only. Improvements are happening near the lake. The multi- use trail is level and wide. It connects all the areas of the park. Topography at the park makes for an interesting walk/ride. There is everything from sunny wide open sports fields, to areas that are more wooded. Particularly near the lake. Wild blackberries (I think,) were growing in numberous locations. Several picnic shelters and benches are available throughout the park. Some of these have grills. Signs posted that no demestic animals are allowed in the park. The park is very clean.

There is creek running through several area through the trail, but the time we were here in Autumn, it's mostly dry. I decided to hike the Gorge Trail, which was very do-able, and ambitiously hoped to even follow the trail around the lake. Oooooops... There is NO LAKE, for the moment, anyway, as they've emptied it for maintenance (!!) Wasn't able to hike around the (dry) lake, as I think that trail was closed, but no worries, I headed back on the Gorge Trail (took a zillion pictures along the way, it's GORGEous!!) and made it back just in time to attend the Hispanic Festival taking place right outside the visitor's center. Looks like there's LOTS of community activities offered here, and it's a GREAT area resource!! Beautiful scenery, some waterfalls apparently, once the rain returns, picnic areas and multiple fun playgrounds for the kiddies, nicely marked trails, TONS of community events, and so much more!! If you paddle to the back of the lake on the campground side, the creek is gorgeous. There's a ton of wildlife like herons, turtles, eagles, and all sorts of fish for catch and release. The campground hosts several events throughout the season and has electric and non-electric but no full hook up. The camp store has everything you may need. Hike on one of the many clean trails or try a round of disc golf, it's a brand new trail and impressive!

We parked in the small paved parking lot on the east side of the…read morepark, which let us walk right into the area with the gorgeous pond area, featuring a ton of plant and wildlife, including these gorgeous large flowers. The trail around the pond area is paved and easy to walk, and as you approach the far end, signage indicates access to an unimproved trail. There is nice seating near the pond, as well as a great overlook deck. What a great little park!

Wetlands is a great local park with beautiful scenery, and nice paved trails or alternatively…read more"mowed" trails. You can go shorter or longer distances as you wish. Parts of the park are located along a fairly busy road so there is some road noise along some trails, just FYI.
