Are you looking for fun and safe activity to do with friends or family while staying socially distanced from others? This is an awesome activity that checks all of the boxes! We visited Morgan's yesterday for the second time this summer. It's a great meeting spot for friends that live in Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Our first visit was on a Thursday and the second was on a Sunday. There was a big difference in the amount of people when going during the week versus the weekend. I would highly suggest a weekday visit if you would prefer less people. After a brief safety talk, you grab a life vest, paddle, and boat and you are off! We did kayaking on both of our visits, but saw a lot of people out on canoes and rafts. It is about a 7 mile trip and both times it took us about 3 hours doing a relaxing trip down the river with minimal paddling and a lot of floating. We packed a picnic lunch and pulled our kayaks out on a shady spot and ate lunch. This is not a technically different kayaking route. There are a few sections that are rocky, have some tiny rapids, or tree roots that you need to navigate, but all in all, it is a beginner level trip perfect for the novice and fun for all. The equipment is good, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The price is also good for a budget activity ~$30 per person! Let's talk about COVID-19 precautions: Morgan's takes this seriously! They are by reservation only and have designated checkin times. For our weekend checkin when it was busy, a man greeted us when walked up and directed us to an empty table to fill out our group's waiver. Once done, we took to a table with one staff member to checkin. All of this was outside. During the week, this was done in the building, but we were the only group. There are social distance markers on the ground, limit to 3 people per the changing room/restroom, social distance on the bus to bring you back, and all staff wore masks. Everything was fine until I got about 100 ft before the end of the tubing trip. I got stuck on some rocks and when I pushed off with a stick I pushed myself into quicksand and it took over 20 minutes to get out. Worst experience. Very scary during a rain storm. read more

First time canoeing. Family of 4 ( 2 adults & 2 kids) 1 star: Friendly staff. 1star: Loading onto the boat was super easy and no issue. The river was maintained with nice spots to pull off for a rest. --1 star: the bathrooms at the front building were the dirtiest bathrooms I have ever experienced. Only 1 working toilet in the women's ( arrived at 9am) . --2 stars: unloading area at the end was not maintained. ( the staff member said what they had washed away in the spring) no where to pull your canoe to get off . Steep muddy hill to climb up. Someone in our group got hurt trying to get out when unloading . Young children were struggling to get up the steep hill. read more

Highly highly recommend this river and company. The river is 7 to 8 miles long (depending who you talk to) and the water is very clear. It looks "muggy" but that is only because of the color of the mud, once you take it in your palms, you can see how clean it is. It was is only about 45 minutes from Cincinnati. You can take kayak or canoe (up to 3 people). You give your car key for each canoe or kayak you take. Bring food and drinks And have a blast. Lots of places to get off! Awesome place for kayaking and canoeing. Online reservation system is easy to use. Check-in process on site is smooth. Staff are friendly. Most equipment was in good repair. Fun family activity and never felt it was unsafe for younger kids. Recommend going on weekday or first thing Sunday morning to avoid crowds and drunk college-age kids. Excellent Afternoon yesterday! We had a blast - even though we got caught in a rain shower! The Team at Morgan's is top notch! So friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk in. We even got to meet Mr. Morgan who was on hand as well as their GM, so if you see them around make sure you say Hi! You can reserve ahead of time and get a $6 discount, so I suggest you make your reservation before you go. You will also have the choice of the old school canoe (aluminium) or the canoe made of recycled milk jugs- which is what we had. These also have molded seats which are easier on your rear :-). You can reserve online or by calling, whichever you prefer. Our group first met in the back to check in and have a brief introduction from Mr. Morgan about the area. (There is camping onsite if you wish to make it an overnight experience). Next we all gathered our equipment (oars and life vests), then we had a brief overview of the day and what to expect and where to go and what to look for as we canoed down the river. We had the experience where we dropped right in at Morgans, so all we had to do was walk right down the steps to our canoes. From there we were off on our adventure. There are signs along the route so you know how far you have gone and approximately how much further you have to go. There are also plenty of places to stop along the way to get out and have lunch or go swimming, as there are some deeper spots in the river. My advise, take your time and stop a couple times as you take your trip. It should take you about 3 hours or so to get to the end where you will be picked up by Morgans. Again, there will be a big sign about 100 yards before the pull in area. All you do is pull up on the landing area and take your oars and life jackets to the trailer and drop them off. You walk up the short trail where you will catch the bus back to Morgans. There is a phone available if the bus is not there within a few minutes. There was also a dumpster and a port a let so you can dump all your trash before you get on the bus. At Morgans there are restroom/shower facilities and an outdoor rinse off shower if you want to clean up. A couple of helpful hints....here you can bring beverages to enjoy along the way (yay!!) and you can also leave your key at Morgans, that way if you do turn over your key won't get lost. We had no problems, we used a ziploc bag to put our key in and just blew air in it and put it in our cooler. I took a camera with a waterproof case and left my cellphone in the car. If you do take your cell I would recommend a waterproof case or at least a ziploc bag for protection. Take snacks or some food to enjoy...if you forget anything there is an IGA right across the street to pick up any last minute items before you take off. Also, don't forget your bug spray and suntan oil! Overall, a great experience and we will absolutely be back and we will also visit other Morgans Canoe Centers after this experience! Signed up for a 8 mile kayak shuttle down Whitewater River. I was warmly greeted by the staff and they were gentle with my oh so newly purchased kayak! Quickly filled out paper work and after a very informative river prep talk on what to expect where I was off on my adventure on this steadily flowing clear stream! Just enough riffles to keep it interesting and so many fun places to stop for a swim!!! So many fish! Turtles ducks blue herons and beautiful scenery! Took my little four year old daughter here for a canoe trip for her birthday and we had a blast. The water is low in places due to the very dry summer, but it's easily passable and there are lots a great places to stop for a picnic or a swim. The facilities were really nice and the scenery was beautiful. They made sure my little girl had the right size life jacket and her very own paddle. I found all the staff to be attentive and really tried to give great advice for the trip, since it was her first one. We did the short 5 mile, which took us 3.5 hours, but only because we killed an hour swimming, eating and swinging on the rope swing over the river. I can't wait to come back and try one of the longer trips and hope they get some rain soon! Keep your eyes open for eagles. Gary Morgan has a real first class facility here on the wonderful Whitewater River. Why do the reviews mention Gary by name? As we walked up to the building Gary was strolling toward the parking lot to greet me and introduced himself. How often are you warmly and genuinely greeted by the owner of any business? The facilities are very nice, plenty of parking, nice main building, efficent PFD and paddle house, nice landings, well maintained canoes and kayaks. Comfortable PFDs. Gary spent time with our party going over canoeing basics - getting in, launching, basic strokes - draw, j-stroke. He talked about reading the river and navigating obstacles. He talked about communicating with your partner and working together to have a nice day. Our group included a number of teens, so it was nice for them to get some personal instruction, and I didn't have to do it. Morgan's take-out arrangements are the best, trips either end at their livery, where your car is parked our downstream at a landing. At the landing they have a direct phone line that rings their office. They promised to pick us up within 15 minutes and they did. Waiting for a pickup can be a disaster at the end of a long day on the river, but Morgan's nailed it. The river was in excellent condition. There were only a few trees down. I assume they actively maintain the river and clean debris. The water was swift, our GPS clocked us at 6-8 MPH most of the day. I've been to a number of canoe outfitters in Indiana and Morgan's is the best I've seen without question. read more

Family owned and they treat you like family. Well, that's what Gary Morgan told us. I've heard that a million times from other owner operators and think, "yeah, right. I've hear that a million times." But, yeah, he was right. The place is fantastic. We couldn't ask for nicer people running Morgan's from the owners to the guides to....well....pick a staff member. They were all friendly and informative. We did the 8-mile canoe trip down the Whitewater River. It was supposed to take 3 to 5 hours. This worried me a bit because I'm not as young as I used to be and hadn't been canoeing in many, MANY years. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. The river current had a good pace that helped with the forward motion, so, paddling never got to strenuous and the few small rapids constantly made for new experiences to keep the whole trip interesting. When we got to the landing area, it was well-marked and easily spotted from the river, so, there was little chance of being swept passed. Gary Morgan and his team at Morgan's Canoe in Brookville run a very tight ship. Our experience there was as smooth as it gets. We took out two canoes for the 8-mile trip down the Whitewater River and had a total blast. The facilities at Morgan's are well laid out to handle the big crowds they see on the weekends; they move you through the process of signing up and getting on the river very quickly. Morgan's has canoes, tubes, rafts, solo and tandem kayaks and now paddleboards. I've been here a few times and honestly, i've never had a problem. I recommend reserving a slot ahead of time as you'll save a little bit of money. And the Old Time canoes are the way to go, and easier to handle. It's under $40 a couple to canoe here. You can pack and take a cooler and whatever else you want with you. It has its perks to going here rather than Ohio (wink wink, nudge nudge). The river really depends on the weather. During dry periods you may need to get out and kind of lift you're canoe over the low areas, but it's pretty simple to do. And after a rain storm you might encounter a few more "rapids" than normal. They make sure they brief you on trouble spots before you go out, and tell you where to look for arrows that will point you in the right direction of which way to stay of an obstacle. There are also big yellow mile markers on the banks in the trees, so you know how much farther you have to go (roughly). There are lots of banks and islands to pull off on and have a picnic or get in the water. Some places the current can be a little strong so use you're judgement. There is an area with a rope swing that is at a pretty surprisingly deep part of the river, that I've never seen anyone have issues with. But use your judgement and be smart. Play at your own risk. They have a huge sign on a hill that warns you you're stop is coming up. Just pull off, unload, and take care of things. You leave your canoe on the beach. Paddles and life vests go to the trailer and there's a dumpster for trash and a bin for can recycling. Follow the path up behind the trailer and there's an area with benches and a port a pot (use at your own risk) and to the left there's a building with a phone that will connect you to the center and signal for a ride. a bus is normally around within 20 minutes tops, and you're in the shade so it's not bad. There is camping available on site but haven't tried that out yet. The restrooms have changing areas, but I've only ever found one outdoor shower spicket. They will keep your keys at the desk before you go out, so be prepared. 1. no danger of losing them and 2. they know if you're still out. And if Mr. Morgan is around say hi! He really is awesome and enjoys talking to people. All the staff are pretty decent for the most part too! read more

One of the best experiences I've had in a while. Thanks to the Yelp community, and to the team of Morgan's Brookville Canoe and Outdoor Adventures for making this all possible. The place is beautiful, have an excellent team willing to explain any questions or help you with whatever you need. I felt very comfortable with the place. Prices are reasonable. Canoes and safety equipment are in excellent condition. All very well labeled and explained. No complaints, the five mile journey is fantastic and comfortable. The employees are super friendly. Perhaps the only thing I think can be improved, is to have a kind of introductory class for people who have never practiced water sports. Again, thanks for making this event possible. Checkin was easy, and the safety measures were on point. The river was at a perfect level the day we went, and the staff member told us all of the important details. We had a great time and loved the jump by the corn field. The water was clear! It was way less crowded than the Little Miami has been recently. Great spot and business. We took my daughter and 7 friends tubing at 2 pm on a Sunday. We made reservations online 4 days ahead. We were in the water quickly and the staff was nice. It took us way longer than 3 hours to do the five miles because that water was low and not moving very quickly. read more

I booked online read all the rules on the booking site no where did it say you have to be on time, I have never done anything like this so was not aware when you book 6 hours you can't start in the middle of the time I even called and they said we had til 2:30 than I get there and was ignored for 10 minutes before a lady walked up and was very rude and made me feel uncomfortable, they just did not seek to care and I wasted 60$ and even called and they wasted my time need much better instructions and better customer service read more

My friend and boyfriend were assaulted at Morgan's Canoeing. The staff did little to help us and even LIED to the police about what they witnessed. 6 people beat one of my friends. The other (my boyfriend) was beaten and held underwater by 2 other people. The attackers had bloody knuckles by the end of the ordeal; my friends had bruises and lacerations all over their faces. Ultimately, one of them needed professional medical attention and stitches. Rather than seeing this as assault or a jumping, the staff decided to call this a "fair fight" so as to avoid legal consequences. Prior to the fight, my friend and boyfriend (both males in their early-twenties) were taunted by their attackers and called gay for being in a canoe together without any women. Both of them are straight, but fully support gay-rights/pride and the LGBT movement. Rather than getting mad, they played along with the name-calling. It was immediately after this that they were attacked for no reason other than their canoe bumping into the canoe of the men who assaulted them. I cannot image what would have happened had they actually been of that orientation. Morgan's Canoeing is not LGBT-friendly. My personal experienced involved being cat-called by fellow canoe-ers in front of staff--Morgan's Canoeing is not female-friendly. On top of all of this, there are rules about leaving your keys with the staff to prevent drunk-driving (I fully support these rules). However, from what I witnessed none of these rules were enforced, and I even witnessed the HIGHLY INTOXICATED ASSAULTER drive away with the support of the staff. I was the designated driver of my group and was disappointed to see this, as there were children in the van with the men who assaulted my friends. Morgan's Canoeing is not family-friendly. I am sad and confused about all of this, and wish that the whole situation had been handled differently. I want justice for my friend and boyfriend who were assaulted, but doubt it now with the accounts the staff gave to the local authorities ("I didn't see anything.") read more

We drove 3 hours to come here, with reservations, only to find out they are closed due to high water levels. No one tried to call us or contact us even though they had our number. My husband showed them the text message confirming our reservation to prove they didn't try to call, text or contact us in any way! Should have received our money back and a couple of free passes. With a band of over 30 people, you'd think getting us into the water and on our way would take some effort and a little chaos. Nope. The folks at Morgan were ready for us and genuinely excited to meet us and tell us about our trip down the river. The 8 mile path didn't have any deadspots (hurray!) and there were plenty of spots to jump out and do your think with the rope swing or find big branches to hop off of. Our group of 7 made an reservation for this past Monday at 10 am for tubing down the river... the 5 mile trip. We arrived at 10 am and were greeted by very friendly staff (looked to be high school/college age). We filled out the paperwork and hopped in the van. We were dropped 5 miles up river from Morgans and we headed down the river. In places the river was so low that we had to carry/drag our tubes down 50 feet or so down river. Wear your water shoes/scuba shoes so that you can walk on the river bed when needed without worrying about sharp objects or glass debris! half way down our trip...we put our tubes on a sandbar and spent an hour swimming in a 4-6' deep swimming hole! IT was awesome! We all loved that there wasn't a time limit on the trip...so start early in the day, take a cooler of drinks, snacks...and have a great time! The stairs at the end were a bit much...boy I wish they had a trash container at the landing at the end to dispose of all the empty water bottles and snack wrappers!!!! That would be nice!!! Each of the past two years we have tried Morgan's, last year I "reserved" a kayak and 3 canoes, this year just 3 old time canoes. Last year, my kayak wasn't reserved and this year they had none of the old time canoes for us. No one seems to know what is going on, it's pointless to reserve the stuff even though they charge extra for "walk-ins". This is a shotty ran business and it's cheaper to go to the Miami Whitewater canoe that is closer to the highway. Stay away from this place unless you want to deal with hassle. read more
