My Mr. have been here before with this previous job. He highly recommended it. Plus it's only 15 minutes from our home. You can book your reservations online however we decided to pay up at the desk due to the weather. Didn't know if it was going to rain but it turned out to be a gorgeous day. First it is required to sign a waiver then you check in. There are several options. You can choose between the 2,3,6 or 8.5 mile trek. You can rent tandem kayak, single kayak or canoe. We opted for the tandem kayak $86.00 for the both of us and we did the 6 mile round trip. You pick your life jacket, wait for your name to be called out and you take a bus. From there they will drop you off depending on what mile marker you chose. The staff makes sure to explain where to not go and when you have to be back. Make sure you are back by 7:00 pm. Once you get to the river you pick your paddle and kayak/canoe and off you go. You may hit some rough shallow spots but for the most part, it was smooth sailing. Make sure to pack a small cooler for your drinks. Stay hydrated. We also kayaked to Little Miami Brewing and had a couple of libations. That was fun! Overall the whole experience was great and I had a blast. Coming back the staff was super friendly, helpful and laid back. I would definitely come back. This place rocks. read more

Fantastic canoe outing in the Little Miami River, facilitated by the Scenic River Canoe Excursion team. This was our first time with this company (not first time on this river). The location was easy to find on Round Bottom Road, big grass/field parking lot and well - set up registration area. Getting signed in and life jacket was a breeze. The shuttle to the put-in outside of Miamiville for our "Fletcher" paddle was a quick ride, and our canoe, kayaks and paddles were waiting for us. A staff member was on hand at the river for those needing a push in, but otherwise it was easy to handle on our own. And we were off! There were little rapids on the way for some fun, a few "beaches" for taking a break. It was a Tuesday and we saw people paddling the whole way, but did not feel crowded at all. Saw lots fish, a few turtles and a turkey vulture. We did stop at Little Miami Brewing in Milford for a break which was fun. Return to the car was easy and again staff on hand to take your equipment. I love going kayaking on the weekends here during the summer! Scenic River Canoe Excursions is right along the Little Miami river, and it's always a great time. Upon arrival, the process is very simple and it's usually busy (especially on weekends), but I've never waited in line for more than 10-15 minutes. The people working there are always really helpful and tell you exactly what to do and where to go. My friends and I usually opt for the 6 mile trail. You have to take a bus to get to the start of the trail, but the ride is fairly short. You're able to swim in the river if you choose, and there's plenty of small beach areas to stop and take breaks at. I really enjoy being able to leisurely go down the river, so the beaches are great to take in the scenery. The Little Miami Brewing Co. is also right alongside the river towards the end, and people are able to go there for a drink or a quick bite. Overall, it's a really fun thing to do if you're looking to get outside. I recommend going on a weekend to spend the day kayaking! read more

My adult kids and I wanted to spend the afternoon on the river. We saw positive reviews for Scenic River Canoe and headed over. We initially planned on getting canoe, but after speaking with the staff chose kayaks. We had an absolutely amazing time! The guy that drove the bus over to our drop off spot gave us advice and was extremely helpful. He even recommended that if we parked our kayaks under the bridge, we could grab some food at the brewery in Milford. The guys that were there when we got dropped off, helped us get in our kayaks and pushed us off. We are all still talking about what an amazing time we had! This kayaking trip did not disappoint. My friend and I made an online reservation for the six mile (Fletcher) route the night before we wanted to go. You show up fifteen minutes before the bus leaves to sign a waiver and get checked in. They'll bus you to the the drop off location and you're off! What I mostly enjoyed about this particular kayak trip were the variety of beaches that you could stop at along the way (to take a break, picnic, or swim in the water!) and the little rapids that I was not expecting! It's not just still water the whole time, and there are some shallow parts that you'll have to navigate through. I thoroughly enjoyed this, we went at a pretty relaxing speed for the first hour and then picked it up for the last hour and a half and it took us three hours to complete. I'd recommend packing a cooler and food and plan to get wet. I also saw multiple dogs came along for the trip. Beautiful and quiet route to enjoy nature! Highly recommend. read more

So I jumped right at the occasion when my workplace decided to give us a kayaking day. Our bosses went through Scenic River because they'd worked with them before. Definitely a really good place too! It's pretty easy to find, not too far from virtually anywhere in greater Cincinnati, the prices are very reasonable, and the staff are all great. It was 12 of us; four opted for two canoes, the rest of us wanted kayaks. They made sure we had everything we needed before heading out. The bus ride there was a little rough, but nothing we couldn't handle (they offer canoes, single kayaks, and tandem kayaks, or you can bring your own). They take you out to your starting point on the river and the finish is right at their location. We got flooded out of our usual kayaking spot so we decided to come here. We did the 8 mile trip. It was a 30 minute bus trip to our drop off point, and we got lucky that it was only 70* that morning. I could not imagine riding that stuffy bus for that long in any kind of heat. The first two miles were amazing, it was basically just my boyfriend and I paddling the river. I once we hit the 6 mile entry, though, it did get pretty busy. Not a fan of having to listen to other people play crappy music half the time. The river itself is incredibly shallow and rocky and we got stuck several times. I'd say about 75% of the trip is less than two feet deep. Overall we still had a good time and made the most of our day but our usual kayaking spots are better. read more

Every year we do an annual canoe trip here and it's always a blast! This year however there were some restrictions. Usually we canoe, this year due to covid that's not an option and single kayaks only are available. Also no pets allowed so far and unfortunately we learned that the hard way. I assume all that is subject to change as restrictions loosen up but wanted to warn everyone of the possibility. Given the minor hiccups in the start of our trip we still had a great time. Registration was fast and easy as always and the transport and put in were the same. Service all around was friendly and with a smile. We started around noon and did the 8 mile trip. Highly recommended to bring plenty of beverages both for fun and hydration purposes as well as snacks and sunscreen, 8 miles doesn't sound like a lot but can be slow moving on the river some days and it's always fun to stop at a beach and swim.. Also the terrain can be kinda rough and rocky so be sure to wear swim shoes, flip flops, or an old pair of gym shoes. We look forward to continuing this tradition and future visits! read more

Although of these afflictions I have felt safe every single time that I have been there. Along the way there is even a bridge, rock, and a rope swing that you could potentially jump off of. I'm an avid kayaker and this is my primary location of choice. It's kind of remote but still close enough to areas like terrace park, milford, anderson, etc. What I like: Most canoe/kayak liveries I have been to in the past start you out at their building location and then you have a pull out point where you wait for a shuttle to take you back to the building and your car. While that works fine, I much prefer how Scenic River does it. They shuttle you up river and drop you off at a drop in point for whichever trip length you are doing (3, 6 or 9 mile) and they all end at the building/parking lot. No sitting around at the end waiting or having to take a bus ride back when you are finished. Simply run ashore and their employees will pull up your boat and you're good to go. The River: This section of the river is fairly calm on most days but there is a really fun part near the end as you reach the confluence at the end of the island. Some Advice: One tip though, don't forget ice for your coolers. I keep suggesting they could get an ice machine there and make a killing selling it! A Request: Lastly, no matter where you go... please treat the river with respect and take your trash back with you so it stays clean and beautiful for years to come! read more

Just got back from my day on the river with Scenic River. I went on the 6 mile excursion on a solo kayak and it took me about 2.5 hours with almost constant paddling and no stopping at beaches. There are tons of beaches to stop at if you want, that are mostly rocky. The river is pretty low and not moving much right now, so it was kind of a challenge for a moderately in shape person. A good workout yes, but not entirely leisurely - you weren't moving unless you were paddling. It must have been due to lack of recent rain because others have commented that its a very leisurely ride. They leave about every 15 mins for the 2 or 6 mile excursion. They have a 10 mile excursion that only goes out once a day at 9 am on weekends or 10 am weekdays. The staff were all nice and helpful. The river is clean and I saw lots of wildlife including eagles, other birds, huge fish, ducks and turtles which was really enjoyable. Compared to my usual go-to, Green Acres, it compares in laid back atmosphere and beats them in wildlife. I will give it another try, but for now I still prefer Green Acres 8 mile ride. read more

MY FAV CANOE SPOT IN CINCY! I have tried a few others around the city and this is my fav! Everyone there is friendly, helpful and ORGANIZED! I went 3 times this season and wished the season wasn't coming to an end. Parking is easy and someone is there to direct you. There are plenty of canoes and kayaks. They also provide jackets, paddles, and trash net. There is a smooth entrance and exit and they will help you into the water and out once you reach the end. Dogs are allowed. Trip lengths vary- 2, 6, or 10! I usually do the 6 mile trip which can take 2-4 hours depending on how much you paddle/ stop along the way! There are quite a few banks to pull off and relax, enjoy snacks, and then get back on the water. Water also varies between relaxing and smooth sailing and more challenging! ***Scenic River is also very active on Facebook and it's helpful to check there for river levels, if their open/closed etc! read more

Glad I was able to have my first kayaking trip with Scenic River. We arrived and the first thing I noticed was a huge parking lot. This is good, as this company unlike some in the area can handle a larger number of guest all day. We first read and signed the waiver, typical. And was greeted outside of the payment desk and discussed the available route options for day, pricing and the available boat options. We decided to take the three hour, six mile trail as it was pretty early and didn't have anything else to do. After payment you will select out a life vest, and have a brief wait for a shuttle bus. You are taken about 15 miles up the highway for the 6 mile course. From here you walk right up the companies entrance where they are plenty of canoes, tandems, and kayaks waiting along the water. There are several employees ready to help get you in the water, and off you go. It was a nice calm ride in the river and surprising to see so much shallow water. We viewed nature, pretty homes, and some pretty rocking bars along the way. Easy exit, at the companies pickup point which is the starting point. If you managed to make it through and stay dry, there is hell here to pull you in out the water as well. Great experience overall. read more

Had a great experience with this company a few weekends ago. Chose the middle-range trip, which was running faster than usual, according to the company staff, due to the flow of the river. Everything was efficiently handled and explained fully. The mini-bus took us up the river to our drop in point and that let us arrive at the end where we were parked, conveniently located across from a bar/ballfield. Mostly the trip was casual-paddling (forgive my lack of technical terms), but occasionally we ran into more rapid waters that required more strategy. We have been on quite the kayaking kick this summer and Scenic River was great! I called earlier in the week to schedule transportation (we own our own kayaks) and it was easy as could be. We arrived that morning to do the 9 mile trip, which is their longest, and were on the river almost immediately. It is convenient that all of their trips end at your car. Their prices also seem to be fair in comparison to other liveries. All of the employees were very helpful and I enjoyed chatting with them. This stretch of river is varied in that there are both relaxing and challenging sections. There are also plenty of beaches to stop and take a break if you want to swim, eat lunch, etc. Although we did not rent any, their equipment appeared to be in good condition. Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere, most enjoyable kayaking experience I've had since living in Florida. A few challenging parts of the river, but that's why I like this stretch of water the best. This was my first experience with kayaking and I cannot day enough about the staff. They were so informative! We received excellent service. We live close to Louisville, KY but travelled here because they are open daily. There was no extra fee to get a kayak and they even have a 2 seated kayak. We did the Fletchers Mid Trip, which was 6 miles. The staff member driving us to our launch point told us the best way to travel, since the river was a little low, going to to right of each island area so that we wouldn't get stuck as much. Such a great canoe and kayak outfitter. I have been coming here for several years now. They offer you a ride to the drop zone on a old school bus! Their kayaks and canoes are in great shape. They did raise their prices this year, but that is probably in response to all of the new outfitters in the market. They allow you to bring pets, and beverages which is very nice. A lot of my friends have worked here over the years and they said it was a great environment and team to be a part of. They offer several different Little Miami River routes depending on your time and mile preference. read more

Called ahead to try and reserve rentals, no answer after several calls. Got there and there was no place to park at all. They told us to park on the street but there is no street parking. Additionally the place looked like a zoo, just people wandering around everywhere. Very unorganized and inability to handle large crowds. We ended up turning around and wasting and hour of driving time simply because there was not one spot to park. Don't go on a weekend with nice weather. Or if you do show up early or something. read more
