Ordered a baked potato with pernil, butter, cheese, pico de gallo, and mayo ketchup. It was delicious!! Potato was super soft, I just had to add a bit of salt and pepper. I also ordered their piña colada, a bit expensive but very good. Service was super fast. We went on a Sunday afternoon. No line and we got our food in about 10 minutes. They let you know that your food may take a while to be ready because they make everything on the fly. If you've been to PR, it feels like a side of the road food spot. This place just opened yesterday and I love Puerto Rican food and supporting local Latin-owned businesses, so of course I had to visit on my trip back home. They have a simple menu including all the PR favorites, even limbers (puerto rican icee) and fresh juices like palcha (passion fruit) and tamarind (I'm not sure of the translation for this)! Note: it's a small shack on a busy street so it's strictly take-out but they're fast and friendly so the wait wasn't long despite a long line. For our first order, we got a sampler of sorts including alcapurria (beef stuffed fritter), bacalaitos (fried cod fritters) and piononos (sweet plantain stuffed with ground beef). Everything has good flavor, not too much or too little, but I will say everything could have used more stuffing (more beef in the alcapurria and piononos, and bacalao in the bacalaito). The wait. So yes, I heard the wait is long. They even have signs that say that. So I go on a Sunday and get there 5 minutes before opening to insure that I don't have to wait. At 1:03, I walk up and I'm told," We open at 1." I say yup, it is. They take my order and give me a ticket and take my phone number and I am waiting in a potato. A single potato. I was the very first person to order. The first. I waited, no lie 1 hour and 30 minutes. I could have caught a flight and been on my way to the real Puerto Rico to get authentic food in that time! The food was very good. I had the yellow rice and pork. The pork was perfectly seasoned and the rice was perfectly cooked. I had enough leftover for at least two more meals. I tried their frituras on my way by, hoping that I had found a place where I could frequently pick up some of my fried PR favorites. Here what we got and our thoughts on the items. 1) Alcapurias de Guineo - I'm very sad to say they were tasteless. My kids agreed. 2) Rellenos de Papa - These were for my kids and they thought they were just ok. They definitely had better in CT and would not want to get them from here. 3) Bacalaito - I'm not a huge fan of bacalaitos, but I figured I would give theirs a shot. Not good in my opinion, the texture is all wrong. 4) Empanadilla - The filling is dry and tasteless. The dough is not bad. Let me add, that my wife thinks it was not Puerto Ricans that cooked this food judging by taste. I really feel bad. We did not finish any of the items we got. NEVER AGAIN A waste of time I went two days ago on Friday. They opened at 1:14pm. Waited 24 minutes to place my order, only 2 more people ahead in line. My first question was how long is the food waiting time due to the wait in line and a paper that says two hours . Guy said 20 minutes, that the two hours wait is on Saturdays . We placed the order (two potatoes ) One of the guys inside had gloves on and was touching everything, boxes, even touching a kids hair that was inside the kitchen. Hopefully he changed them. After 52 minutes waiting I asked how Much longer, he said five more minutes. After that I had to wait 47 more minutes to get my food. I like to support small business even more when they are from my beautiful island. But to be honest, for this place not having a big menu. Basically a simple menu. Fries, potatoes, pinchos and piña colada I don't understand why they took so long. And they were not doing pinchos. So less work. Other thing is. Don't lie to the customer. If you think you are going to take longer, let them know, even more if they are asking. You don't know if this person is on break or have things to do. For some reason they are asking. Anyways nobody have the time to wait for almost two hours and a half at a food place even more when they are hungry. This is not even a restaurant. We talking about bake potatoes. Something simple. That can be done in minutes. I was expecting a bomb of flavor but it really disappointed me. I was like, if I waited this long food better be great. But not the case. It was the opposite. I went there with high hopes, being Hispanic I have a love for some good Puerto Rican food... but after my visit I was left disappointed. I had the yellow rice with pernil and manduros And my boyfriend ordered the same except with white rice and beans. After about an hour of waiting we had to go an ask about or food where we were told our food was supposedly made already except they didn't have it ready for us. They ended up running out of white rice and had to give my boyfriend yellow rice instead. After another 15 minutes we finally got our food. They also never gave us the drinks we ordered and paid for and after waiting so long there was no way I was going back. As for the food it was average and the wait just wasn't worth it.
