Lunch today at Banana Brasil Grille in Waterbury. I went with the $14.95/lb Meat only option. My lunch certainly "filled me up", but like other fellow Yelpers have stated in their reviews, some of the meat selections were very salty. The meats that were not as salty tasting were on the bland side, I just kinda expected to experience "more flavor", and it simply just wasn't there. I lived in the Deep South for a year, and the Q found in that region simply blows away what I experienced today. Maybe it's not a fair comparison, but I couldn't help but think that. The location of the Banana Brasil Grille is conveniently located near Rt8, so it was easy to get back on to the highway to continue my journey after my lunch. Overall, I'd say it was a mediocre lunch, I can't see a reason for a return visit. A weak 3 Star Rating, IMO. read more

So impressed by this buffet! Exceptionally clean but casual and laid back. We went at 11am when they first opened to experience the food at its freshest, and everything was delicious. 1st time to try Banana Brazil Grille and it won't be our last. There is something for everyone in the family to eat with an expansive hot and cold bar with a huge grill full of delicious meat. Our plates were meat heavy and for three of us with drinks it was $39.00. Don't forget to save room for dessert too! Plenty of seating inside with parking in the front. I tried quite a few different things that I can't even name, but I would say that it was all pretty good- although some of it was a little dry. I love that they offer fresh squeezed orange juice...so good! Usually get just the buffet when at Banana Brasil but today with several guests I opted for the +Carne version. There is always an adequate amount of meat choices on the buffet but this is so much better. I love the Feijoada as dark as it gets and the potato salad and especially the Farofa to sprinkle on everything. But the Chicken, Steak and Sausages cooked in the open oven were delicious. There is a bit of salt to boost the flavor but the meat is so tender and juicy. You can choose the doneness of the meat and I chose medium rare for the steak. The first sausage I had was ordered mild and the second I got spicy. Go for the spicy! The fresh Maracuya juice was the perfect complement to the meal. You can chose from the buffet for $11.99 or $15.99 for the "BBQ" which is freshly sliced for you from massive skewers on the fire! Be aware that even if you only chose one item from the BBQ you'll be upcharged to the higher price but also know it'll be worth it! There's a huge selection of foods on the buffet from plain and yellow rice to chicken wings, flavorful chicken thighs, beef, pork, cheesy mashed potatoes, corn and the most delicious radishes I've ever tasted ... There was a delicious buffet assortment and then numerous choices of meat on the grill. I had some steak and some stew. Also ate the rice, some fantastic spinach, and ddelicious cheesecake. Yes! The only good thing about Waterbury. Limited selection from the grill, but the steak is on point. The chicken was a bit dry and tough for my taste. There's a small buffet with rice, Meats and salads. Things are charged by the pound but they have cheap deals, $10'for the buffet and $12 for buffet and grill all you can eat. Parking is limited and kind of awkward since its right on a busy street and when you back out of a spot you're on a 40mph road and cars wiz by. For anyone that does a rotation at Staywell Health for Uconn, you must go here for lunch. For the price it's an awesome hidden gem. read more

Stopped over after picking up kids from overnight camp in the Berkshires. Was googling food near by while on route and this place popped up. We got off the highway and found the place. It's nothing to look at and I went in to scope it out. Nice Buffett with 2 different rices, beans, fried plantains, amazing looking (and tasting) pork roast, chicken, fried fish, pasta salad and a bbq roast going! Plus they had cans of Guarana! We did go, kids loved it, we loved it, friendly staff and yes, soccer on the tv! Recommend it if you would like a different Meal, save and tasty! read more

The staff is efficient but not overtly friendly. During certain times of the day and week, seating may be limited, so plan accordingly. It's 9:47 pm, and I'm hungry. It's been a long day. I'm nutrient-depleted, electrolyte-imbalanced, and most importantly, starving. But before desolation sets in, I remember I live only 6 minutes from Banana Brasil. Despite my fatigue I jump in the hoopty and drive down the hill. What awaits me, 5 minutes before closing? A fully loaded buffet, fresh and steaming: yellow rice with thick juicy chucks of pork, shimmering smoky brown chicken breasts that split into gleaming white pieces as I jab them with the tongs, rich, crispy sweet plantains begging me to pop them one by one into my mouth. Big hunks of delicate, slow-cooked beef, black and pinto beans, stewed okra, curled heaps of tender fried fish, creamy potato salad flecked with red and orange peppers. I finish my carry-out with a full skewer of perfectly-roasted chicken hearts and a couple of pork ribs, which fill my car up with such savory deliciousness I nearly swerve into a hydrant on the way home. I'm finishing this review at the same time I finish my last bite. I can now face another day, appeased, enriched, thoroughly satisfied. The worst thing about a trip to the DMV is a second trip to the DMV which by the way if you're getting a real ID your mail has to be dated within 90 days you can't just grab some mail and show up with all your documents. That said, all worth it to go to this beautiful buffet. The variety of vegetables and delicious grilled meats was a dream come true. The beans and rice and plantains and okra and butternut squash and spinach salad - everything I tried was phenomenal. The flan was like butter. I especially liked that I could pay for mine by weighing the plate but my son could do all you can eat. I often avoid all you can eat because I don't need to eat more than one plate of food. Brasil Grill Market is a combination of a small ethnic grocery store and buffet style restaurant. Just walk up to the cashier with a full plate of food, and they'll charge you a surprisingly low price by the pound. It's a no frills kind of joint, but that's what makes it unique! They have all of the fixings that you would expect from a Brazilian steakhouse, like bacon wrapped chicken, sausages, and lots of juicy steak roasting on spits over the fire. Pile those up with some rice and beans and a Guarana soda to wash it down, and you got yourself a tasty and filling dinner for around $10. I just wish that I could speak Portuguese, so I could understand what's on TV when I'm there. read more
