The park provides English and French FM radio narrations with interesting details accompanying you while advancing along the car trail. My family had been here 11 years before, but the last trip I made to a place like this was NJ's Jungle Habitat in my teens. They knew to bring along bags of carrots, since you can feed certain animals. (If you don't BYOC, i.e., "Bring Your Own Carrots," you can buy them there.) You're mostly limited to deer type animals and discouraged from feeding males, since it's mating season. That being said, the male deer seemed docile and everyone disregarded that instruction. (Of course, do so at your own risk!) With different habitats, there were wild boar, bears, white wolves, caribou, to name a few - but we didn't feed these. The park staff does keep those all well fed. An Alpine Ibex did approach our car, eager for carrots. We did bypass the petting zoo portion, due to adjacent parking lots being full. While I would have enjoyed looping around a 2nd time, the others were frustrated with the traffic and decided it was time. Even though we tried to avoid the peak times, it seemed that wasn't the case. Definitely, Parc Omega is a wonderful experience, more engaging than a zoo. It can cost a pretty penny per visit, so we ended up getting an annual pass which was $99, and included entrance for our child, and two adults. The pass literally pays for itself after the first couple of visits. Birthday parties are also 50% off with an annual pass. Adults DO have to pay to get in, kinda sucks, but kinda understand why. Babies 11 months and under are free. There is a kiddie zone for kids 4 and under. I did notice that some of the older kids sneak into this zone, which sucks, because they normally play rougher than the babies/younger kids. There is also a dance room/area for kids to dance and go crazy, an arcade area near the food court, and smaller rides for the younger kids like a carousel and cars (the kind that you would find at the mall that costs 2 bucks). Parking is a nightmare. It's always full, and people never look where they are driving. Last time I was here, I saw a, most likely VERY tired mom, back up into another car. It is just mayhem here. On really busy days, they usually have an employee directing traffic. Ahemmm...it's like a kiddie Costco! Again, great place for kids to burn off energy, and for babies to get their stimulation.

Picture this- a group of about 25, 18 to 19 year old students, many of whom have never celebrated Halloween before our visit. Tickets range from $15 to $25, the latter being the standard, $20 being the group rate, and the low rate of $15 coming as part of a one day flash sale they had pre-haunting season. With your ticket, you get a one-time admission to each of their 4 fright sites which include: The Spooky Wagon Ride, House of Terror, Spooky Village, and Fog Maze. They are open from 7 until 10 pm. Before arriving, I wasn't sure if it was enough time, but if you plan accordingly and hit the wagon ride (which has the longest wait line) first and then check out the rest of the attractions, you're pretty well set. Admittedly, I only personally experienced the Spooky Wagon Ride and the Spooky Village. I don't do well with things that go bump in the night, and chickened out of the other two sites. The Spooky Wagon Ride is pretty neat, it's interactive and definitely has its freaky moments. I personally found that the Spooky Village is a bit more on the goofy side than scary side- a break I was happy to encounter. There certainly are some jump factors there, but nothing overwhelming and it was a lot less nerve rattling. It's a bit of a drive to get there, but in my opinion, for the season, it's worth it. Alot of the great Halloween attractions seem to be just on the outskirts, but it makes sense since it's at an orchard. There is food available for purchase, but keep in mind if you are looking for some freshly made fries, the canteen only accepts cash. Oh! And this is a big one for some people- the only bathrooms I found were porta-potties, but they were spacious and clean. I would definitely recommend this as a family fun activity or a night out with friends!

As we were starting our adventure within 5 minutes of being on the course, this particular guide began yelling at me in front of the entire group that I was not using the hooks properly and if I did it again I would be asked to leave the course, she then proceeded to yell at my son and tell him"it would have been really nice if you would have listened to what I was saying in the beginning" ( he's 5 and was having a hard time opening the hooks and attaching them to the cable) She said it again and again and blamed us for holding back the group. While we were frantically trying to get through the course because apparently we were holding the entire group back, we overheard her saying " what is wrong with these people and it's their fault that we are behind!" We never said a word because we were really trying to enjoy the course and not let this women ruin it. All of a sudden she tells us to get down because our time is up ( we were supposed to have 2 1/2 hours to finish this course and we still had an hour left) so we went up to her and said " we don't understand why we can't finish?" She proceeded to tell us that we were cutting into her break time and our time was done! She then looked at her watch and said " oh I have the time wrong" okay you can finish. We finished with lots of time left over, and never got an apology from her. She was plain and simple picking on us the entire time. It is a beautiful course and would have loved every minute of it if we were treated decently.

What I liked: + As a new course, everything is ... new. The carpets, brick, walkways between holes. Unlike many older mini-putt courses, wood isn't used here so the course will better stand the test of time. + Lots of water rushing around the course in man-made creeks, stones, a pretty mini-golf course + There are flagsticks you can take out of the holes! + Huge patio area + Lots of undulations and tiering in the greens, many holes had "rough" - longer artificial grass + Most holes have at least one moderately challenging putt + Good washrooms at the golf course clubhouse + Detailed website What I didn't like - The course doesn't take long enough to play... interestingly there is no "par" designation for each hole however I'd say most holes' par would be 2... its probably about a par 42. That makes it a fun course to play once, but as someone who seeks challenging mini-golf, not one I come to play again and again. - They could have a little post after each hole where you could rest your card to mark your score. - Close to highway though not a lot of noise from the cars

This is easily the best off leash park close to downtown. Far away from any traffic, this peninsula…read morestretches into the Rideau River, and provides ample room to chase balls, sticks, and other dogs, who come here in droves. Easily one of the more popular parks in the area, in the summertime it's not uncommon to see 20-30 dogs here at peak times, between 4 and 6pm, later when the summer sun is up late. Lots of regulars, and friendly people/dogs Even though the rules clearly block off the water from dog access, there's a gravel beach where dogs will swim and frolic in the water, seemingly without impunity. It seems to be a tolerated access point, and I've never had anyone have any issues in the 4 years I've used this park. Only issue I have ever had is with sharing the neighbouring bike path with cyclists. Many hardcore riders use this path, and can get upset when they are doing 60kph past the dog area and animals wonder into the lanes. Plenty of on street parking on Stanley Avenue, and also near the children's park at the east end of Stanley. Make sure to leash your dog from this lot and along the access path until you get out in the open.

Unfortunately, they still had the picnic tables all in a pile and chained up, so we couldn't use them. The park was covered in goose poop, so we didn't want to eat on the grass and ended up eating in the car, lol. Parking is not free at this park, you have to pay. The parking lot is owned by Indigo Parking and it's $1.25 an hour with a 4 hour maximum. The parking lot is also fairly small, so it fills up quickly. If the parking lot is full, there really isn't anywhere else you can park so you'd be out of luck. The turn to get into the parking lot and thus the park is marked, but the road is small, not even 2 full car widths, so it's easy to miss. I missed it first time around and had to double back. Also since the road in is narrow, if someone is coming in and someone else is coming out, the person coming out has to back up. I don't know who designed this place, but I'm not all that impressed with the entrance/exit layout. So as you can see, this park and I did not start off on the right foot, lol. It is pretty, if you disregard all the goose poop and the loud geese walking around. The rapids are cool and there are sections of the park that are picturesque. I personally would be reluctant to bring small kids here because I feel that it's pretty dangerous there if you are not careful. You can fall in the water. Not all sections are adequately fenced off for my comfort level. However, I am a stickler for safety. But I realize that nature is inherently dangerous, so I guess there is some risk to experience its beauty. Glad I got to see the park and the rapids, but I likely won't be back.

I had no idea this place existed until our photographer, Jamie from Hello Lovely Ottawa, suggested…read moreit for our maternity shoot! We were there last summer in June. We weren't the only ones there for a photoshoot either, as we saw a pregnant woman and her partner with a photographer, as well as another couple who seemed to be taking engagement photos. Great location for them! We met Jamie in the parking lot and had no idea what the park would be like, but when we walked down into the park area, it opened up to this huge green space that we didn't expect. There's lots of open green space and small hills, some picnic tables, a few paths in between the trees, and locks where a few people were fishing. It was so beautiful and peaceful at during the "golden hour" at sunset on a weekday, and no mosquitos or any other bugs really, maybe because it was a little windy. I'm not sure what it would be like on weekends during the day, when I could see a lot of families playing and picnics happening. I completely forgot about this park until now, so I can't wait to go back with our babe when the whether is nice! In the meantime, enjoy a few photos of my husband and I screwing around during our photoshoot lol (Just two weeks before our little guy decided to introduce himself to the world!)
