This little local toy store is a gem. I have adult children but we frequently go to this store just to browse and always end up with something. We buy games together here for family game night as well. It gives an old fashioned feel with the hardwood floors but offers so many little curiosity's, it's just a blast from past kinda feel. Downtown Sonora is a real gem with great places to eat, drink, and enjoy, Little Roots being one of them! When we vacation we always let the kids choose ONE, and I mean ONE thing to take home. Since they can't read yet, it's usually a toy of some kind, so when we heard about Little Roots we knew this would be the stop for that. The selection here is expansive with options for all ages, right up to the adults. Baby and toddler toys are located in the back with action figures, table top games, licensed toys, and more from front to back. There's even a huge selection of trading cards and a room to play your game next door. I loved all the board games they offered and I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable pricing on all of it. The staff was super helpful too! One kiddo chose a Bakugan (admittedly a cool toy) and the other chose a game which we played a few times before bringing it home. I loved the little play area at the back of the store too. My younger son had a blast while the older brother was picking for himself. read more

My grandmother took me here 30 years ago when I was a kid and the toys were always higher quality than any of the big box stores or Toys-R-Us. I stopped there with my toddler recently and got him some of his first toys and thankfully the selection and quality is still just as good. They have a lot of brands and games I had never seen before and it's great to see an independent business in a small town thrive for so long. read more

They have an amazing selection of Funko Pops very reasonably priced and ones id prob never be able to find in the city (bay area). They have a ton of super cool and interesting toys and plushies too!! Highly recommend! The people working there are also super nice. read more

Basically the only place we buy gifts for babies & kids. Toys, books, and cute clothes and accessories for all ages. No it's not where you'd do your back to school shopping but getting a unique birthday or baby shower gift they are perfect. Also they have a great play area in the back to stash you kid in while you shop. They have all price ranges from $1-$200 so anyone can find something. And they gift wrap it for you on the spot for free. Best part is this is a family owned business & they have children of their own so they are 100% real people I've had to ask to "borrow" a diaper or wipes on a couple of occasions. I will spend $20 on a single item here any day then a bag full of cheap toys from a big box store for $20. read more

The best toy shop I've ever visited! Fantastic selection of board games, stuffed animals, books and wood toys. Very high quality. The prices are really reasonable too! Also they have several toy play areas to keep the kids busy while you shop. The reading room in the back of the shop is a dream! This toy shop is both charming and unique because it's full of better quality toys for a good price than I've found elsewhere. We ended up stocking up on a ton of wooden toys and other fun gifts for our son who is 11 months old. We even got him a baby grand piano there! A lot of the toys are locally handmade by artisans in the communities within and surrounding Sonora, and of course it's nice to know you're supporting the actual residents of Sonora instead of the usual big corporations. The shop is owned by a lovely young couple with a beautiful little girl. They will chat with you and the husband will show you all about whatever toy you're interested in, it's so helpful. Would have rated a 5 stars but the young man behind the counter made us wait to pay while he talked about video games with another customer that had already paid.
