The routine and lessons have taught my daughter discipline, independence, and manners. She is in the Spanish-only class, which I feel is very important. She counts 1-15 in Spanish, knows all her basic colors, animals, and much more. She sings, dances, and is pretty much as happy as can be every single day. She loves her friends and visits the ones that have moved on to the bigger class. This is the best investment anyone can make for their kids. My kids thrived here and were truly cared for in every way. My son left this school not only potty trained, but also independent, confident, and full of grace and courtesy. Both of my children now greet others with a warm "good morning" or "hello," something that has carried over beautifully into their new school. I've even been told multiple times that they are model students, and I know without a doubt it's because of the love, hard work, and dedication poured into them here. My daughter also left this school reading and writing with confidence, speaking in such a mature and thoughtful way for her age. The foundation she received here continues to shine through in her new environment. My youngest started at 6months as I had to go back to work. And since then no problems nothing but smiles over here. Administration is very approachable and informative about your child and their progress. Obviously they can't do everything so parents need to do their part also. Here at CPA their prices are very reasonable for they time frame and care you and your child receive. CPA schedules great field trips for your children to attend to. Their rostering and head count are very strict to account for every child. They also in courage parents to participate in the field-trip as chaperones. All teachers here are CPR certified by the American Heart Association. This is a plus where I do feel say for my child. Also conveniently located there is a MDFR station across the street.

They have the seal on the website, but they are not in fact accredited. After my experience here I reached out to the accreditation organization to file a formal complaint, and it turns out, smart starts has simply copy and pasted the seal to their page. Apple destination confirmed that this school does not hold accreditation. Starting with that fact, please read and consider another school. Unfortunately over the past few weeks, we have observed concerning behavior from both the teachers and the students in the prek 2 room, deeming the space unsafe for our child. In our opinion, the physical nature in which the teachers address the children is not up to the standards that we hold for our family. On multiple occasions we have witnessed the prek 2 teacher and teachers assistant engaging in tactics to physically manipulate, move or reposition children throughout the classroom space in a way that appears aggressive. There is a very apparent lack of warmth, patience and care that is expected and necessary to deal with children. Additionally, observing the interactions between students with hitting, kicking and pushing also makes us concerned for the safety of our child (and the others in the classroom). We have worked very hard to teach our children what is and is not acceptable when it comes disagreements and violence. While I understand that some of these behaviors can be "normal", they are not being dealt with in a way that we see as adequate from the teacher. We feared for her safety, and worried that she would pick up negative behaviors in this environment. In terms of the classroom environment, we have not seen structured lessons, co-learning facilitated by an instructor or any type of curriculum applied. As a person who has worked in education administration for over a decade, it makes me very concerned for the students academic development. I am all for open play, and I agree that play is a large part of active learning, but there needs to be some kind of facilitation. For us, this type of classroom does not lend success for our child. In regards to usage of screen time, though we had a brief conversation about the use of the phone in the classroom, I felt that if there is a policy in place for use of screens, it should be abided by. We as parents are also required to follow the schools policies, and we expect the same rule book to be followed by staff. If the children were engaged in structured learning throughout the day, the screen use would not bother us as much - I understand it can also be a teaching tool- but in this case, it very much is applied as a distraction and a bandaid. It's quite sad to me that you have a room full of curious, wonderful and excited children with little intent to keep them engaged in other, hands on ways. I wish what I experienced was a joke. I wish what I saw wasn't actually what's going on here. Let me say this- we are a daycare family. My kid has been in school since she was 3 months old. I was horrified by the way this teacher handled her students and I do not think it was appropriate. Further, in discussing with the director, it was very clear that nothing would change. In fact, she was present in the classroom for some of the behaviors. Take your child elsewhere. There are plenty of options. This specific classroom is not safe.

The staff all appear to enjoy their jobs. - Safety is taken seriously, from children's, fire and employee's safety. - Very clean and orderly. Spotless at all times in all locations. This is amazing when you consider the number of children. How do they do it? - Low staff to children ratio. I would say an average of one to five based on my observations. - Good hours. 6:30 a.m to 7:30 p.m.. - Reasonably priced. - Parking always available. Cons: - Neighborhood is a higher crime area; need to be alert when dropping off children and picking them up. - Communication needs to be improved between staff and parents. My wife was under the impression that a note would be provided every day; it seems the notes are provided on an exception basis. We are also not notified when there is a special event in writing, i.e. party, different clothes to wear, or schedule changes. In the large part, I am informed verbally when I pick up my gran kid, but my wife is not. I am bi-lingual and my wife constantly asks me to find out infomation from the staff. This creates some frustration on her part; which of course is transferred to me :( PRO / CON: -Bi-lingual. This could go either way, depending upon your situation. All of the staff are hispanic. Spanish is the primary language used by the staff. Parents who speak spanish and want to give their children a headstart on english will find this academy a good match. Parents / children who speak only english will find some barriers to communication and see perhaps a slight dip in their child's ability to speak english. Older children may benefit more from the bi-lingual environment and pick up both languages without any loss in the primary language, as noted by the previous reviewer.
