My knowledge and involvement with Herricks Jewelers has been going on for quite some time and I'm happy to say it's been filled with positive experiences. So maybe most of my previous trips were for battery watches and small things like that, but when my (at the time) girlfriend and I were looking at engagement rings, I knew HJ had to be one of the places we go. The employees there make the experiences very personal and they're anything but pushy which you like from a small time local store (unlike Jared who tried to get me to buy a ring on our first trip ever looking!). I'll say that intimate touch takes things very far because I felt comfortable in wanting to purchase my (now) fiancée's ring here. As important as the staff is, price will almost always be a bigger factor when it comes to jewelry. At Herricks Jewelers I really feel/felt like I was getting my money's worth and at a respectable price. This was accurate after her ring was appraised for a nice chunk more than what I paid. Herricks was also great at taking care of any little snafus we had with the ring (diamond placement, size, ring color). This did take some emailing and back and forth, but none of these needs were charged as they really wanted to get the ring right for us. Overall, Herricks Jewelers has been around for a long time and I hope it stays that way. With a friendly and trustworthy staff, formidable prices, and a decent selection of jewelry, it's tough to turn down a trip here. As stated, this review is ongoing because we'll be coming back soon to take a look at wedding bands!

It has been over a year since I walked through his door and I still wake up every morning and love the beautiful creation on my finger and to this day still get compliments on what a beautiful wedding ring set I have. I had been searching all over the island for the "perfect" wedding ring set. I had the perfect diamond in a setting that I liked for all of 2 weeks although it had sat on my finger for more than 8 years. This perfect 2.5 carat, 8 sided diamond, with 88 facets sat in a weak tulip setting that I allowed a jeweler to talk me into and I was determined to not let that happen again. I had an idea of what I wanted and I set out on my search. My fiancé and I hit every major jewelry chain on Long Island and they all had the same type selection and ALL tried to get me to settle for what they had in their display case. Some had even refused to set my diamond in one of their settings and suggested I just buy what they had to replace my near flawless diamond. With 20 days left before I had to leave on my wedding cruise, I decided to stop into that little jewelers next to the Whole Foods in Jericho. I had always wanted to check it out and I figured I was going to have settle again so it wouldn't hurt. I was greeted with warm genuine smiles from David and his staff. I told them what I was looking for and although they had beautiful things that could be modified to be close to what I wanted, nothing was exactly what I was looking for. Then he said the most amazing thing to me. "I can see you are not happy. Why don't we just make it?" And he did. I drew what I wanted on a piece of paper. He took measurements of my diamond, redrew what I had with measurements to give it scale and proper dimension and within an hour my vision was on paper and becoming a reality. He had less than 3 weeks and worked with his team around the clock to create a mold, cast the ring, find 12 perfect diamonds to go with my solitaire, make sure it fit my finger and set my diamond into it, and rhodium plate it. There were many nights (way after the store was closed) that we texted back and forth the work out the details to make sure he was creating what I wanted. David did not want me to settle. It was clear that client satisfaction is his priority and he is truly passionate about his craft. He never charged me a dime extra for his late nights and completed this set for less than a ready-made set at the big chain retailers. When the day came and my ring was complete, it was the most beautiful set I had ever seen. It was better than what I envisioned. We named the rings, The Geslani set, after my new married name. I am stopped by random people who comment on my rings all the time. It has a "peek-a-boo" feature built in where the diamond placed on the side of the wedding band can been seen through the engagement ring. Each of the diamond tips in the channel setting, can also be seen through a side opening of the wedding band. This thing sparkles for miles! Thank you David for your commitment to excellence.

Jack, the owner, is especially helpful, friendly, and laid back, he is there to help and answer any questions, but never pressures you into purchasing anything. On one occasion I took to him a thin gold chain that had gotten tangled very badly, he worked on it (I think for a few hours!) and managed to get it untangled- he didn't charge me a thing for the service! He gave his honest opinions after hearing what I was looking for and never tried to push me towards something that cost more, just so he could make more money. In the end, I not only received exceptional service, but 3 beautiful sets of earrings at a price that is even better than I expected - and I don't even know him.
