This is an ongoing review because I'm not quite done with Herricks Jewelers. Technically I guess this review dates back more than just a little under this past year. My knowledge and involvement with Herricks Jewelers has been going on for quite some time and I'm happy to say it's been filled with positive experiences. So maybe most of my previous trips were for battery watches and small things like that, but when my (at the time) girlfriend and I were looking at engagement rings, I knew HJ had to be one of the places we go. The employees there make the experiences very personal and they're anything but pushy which you like from a small time local store (unlike Jared who tried to get me to buy a ring on our first trip ever looking!). I'll say that intimate touch takes things very far because I felt comfortable in wanting to purchase my (now) fiancée's ring here. As important as the staff is, price will almost always be a bigger factor when it comes to jewelry. At Herricks Jewelers I really feel/felt like I was getting my money's worth and at a respectable price. This was accurate after her ring was appraised for a nice chunk more than what I paid. Herricks was also great at taking care of any little snafus we had with the ring (diamond placement, size, ring color). This did take some emailing and back and forth, but none of these needs were charged as they really wanted to get the ring right for us. Overall, Herricks Jewelers has been around for a long time and I hope it stays that way. With a friendly and trustworthy staff, formidable prices, and a decent selection of jewelry, it's tough to turn down a trip here. I guess the owner wasn't in this morning. I needed batteries installed in 2 watches. I walked in and two men were talking sports. One was behind the counter and now I'm wating almost 15 minutes before a third party walks in and joins the sports chit chat while I'm there twidling my thumbs waitiing for service. I finally had to ask if anyone can change batteries in my 2 watches. $21 later I walked out as one unhappy customer who will never return to this jewelry store again. I needed batteries for a couple of watches so I came to Herrick's Jewelers where I get batteries for my finer watches. I have been coming here for many years. They are always very polite, friendly and efficient and have a good selection of jewelry. Even though I was just buying batteries I was still treated like a valued customer. This to me alone is enough for them to gain my business. The store is in a shopping center so parking is easily accessible and convenient. Since they have been here for such a long time they are evidently doing something right. I like to support the local businesses in my area so if you need some jewelry, battery for your watch or a repair come check them out. I think you would be pleasantly satisfied. read more

Neighborhood jewelry store. I have been going to this place for a few years mostly for small items- batteries, broken chains and the like. They are always super nice and get me on my way in as short a time as possible. Their prices are good - they don't kill you for a watch battery for instance and if you have to leave the item for repair, it is done exactly when they say it will be. I recently went here to get batteries in two watches, a Movado watch band repaired, two rings sized, and one ring dipped. They finished the watches while I waited and I left my rings there for sizing/dipping. I had a pleasant experience when I dropped off my jewelry, and thought I'd be rating this store as 5 stars. All of the people I interacted with were professional and pleasant. However, they called me to say that my rings were ready for pick-up and when I got there they had not sized either ring (just polished) and didn't have the ring that was to be dipped. I told them it was ok, and to call me when everything was ready. When I went back the next time, the misplaced ring was there and looked great & the other two rings had been sized and polished. I was happy with the finished products, but that second visit was kind of alarming. read more

Cannot say enough good things about the staff here. I worked with Mike on an engagement ring and I was extremely picky to say the least. It took awhile but was more than worth it in the end. I actually missed going in there once we finally found one. Super helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process and even when we had to come back to get the ring resized. I personally have been going to this jewelry store for years now and I do not have one thing I can complain about. The prices are great, the service is above and beyond and the owners are the nicest guys I have ever met. They know what they're talking about and have never steered me wrong in any of my purchases. One year, for Christmas, I wanted a question mark necklace, and while they did not have one they could order, they custom made one for me at an even better price than what they could have ordered it for. Also, I bought a pair of earrings from them (which they purchased from a vendor) and when a few diamonds fell out and the vendor took too long to fix it, they gave me the exact same pair for free! I cannot tell you how many pieces I have brought in for a cleaning or a repair and never, not ONCE, did anything mysteriously happen to my jewelry. Instead, they actually took the initiative and fixed certain things I did not even know were wrong. For instance, I had a pearl ring I wanted cleaned; they noticed that the pearl was coming off and they called me and asked me if I would want it cemented as well as cleaned - since then I have never had a problem with that ring. I have bought so many pieces for myself, as well as other people and I cannot be happier with the quality of gold that they sell. Its very clear that whoever wrote any of those negative comments has a grudge against this store personally. I mean seriously, last time I checked, when you wanted to accuse someone of molestation, you'd go to the POLICE, not some website where you feel you can slander the names of GOOD people for your own satisfaction. The closest thing anyone there has ever said that could POSSIBLY be construed as a sexual comment was that I had a nice smile - and lets be honest, that's a compliment, not harassment. read more

If I could give negative two stars,I would. Brought a $3000 - $4000 Omega watch for work and a battery. This is the second time my wife wore this watch sonce I picked it up sometime in the last 4 to 6 months This review is today January 27 2017. In our Hotel room she found a disc on the floor, she asked me what it was, I didnt bother looking cause I was on business calls and told her to toss it in the bag. At airport today flying back she mentioned what time it was and she was 15 minutes slow and I reset her watch. Got home and looked closer and it was the entire back of her watch. Luckily the battery or mechanism did not fall out. INEXCUSABLE!! Iwas chaged $200. This again is INEXCUSABLE. Thank God,we didn't lose the back or the mechanism did not fall out. Says hours till 6pm. Been calling for 20 minutes,no one picks up. Will be going there tomorrow and will post update. A simple fixing of this will not cause me to change this review. We will see what they do. Unreal !!! I will however post what they come back with. Thanks. FOLLOW UP: As I said I would post a follow up which I would rate 5 stars. They were VERY apologetic and were willing to do anything to make it right and they did. They sent to Omega and got all factor original gaskets and parts. They couldn't have been nicer. Really was not impressive. Went here to get an engagement ring resized, they were quick, rather inexpensive, but the end result was very unimpressive. Inside of the ring was left scratched up, jeweler seemed rather unsure of himself. They took a rather large piece of platinum off of the ring and only gave a $4 cash refund. We ended up taking it to another place in Wantagh that did a much better job. They also gave us the leftover platinum in case we wanted to go a bit bigger with the ring. read more

I left a bracelet in to get repaired. I went back twice to pick it up. They asked me to come back another day. I figured it was near closing time both days,maybe they had put it away. The third time I went ...they told me they lost it. They gave me a really hard time about it. One of the owners was actually very rude. I wound up having to go to court over it . I was told by a police officer that things like that happen pretty often. He said for the little that you are going to pay to get it back they could sell it for much more. They brought to court something that looked like it could have come out of a gumball machine hoping I would accept that for my bracelet. Hahaha. They offered me $500 through the mediator. I told them I would accept $700. I could have gotten the $900 I wanted but that would have meant being there waiting to see the judge for hours and possibly getting nothing. So I'm not totally satisfied. I really wanted my bracelet back. But at least I got a decent amount. I would never go back there again or recommend them to anyone read more

Went here for the second time in 10 years because they are local. I had broken off the clasp on my necklace that was made out of 24k gold. They said that they could install a 14k standard necklace clasp and take my broken one in for credit. They didn't quote any price and I was shocked that I had to pay $80 to have the cheap clasp that they put on soldered closed. Will NEVER go back to this place ever again.
