Costs $20.00 per adult person and $5.00 for parking. Lakeside community is beautiful and quaint. Step back to the 1950s and enjoy life with swimming, shuffleboard, horseshoes, sailing, sand volleyball, basketball, nightly music, shopping, and dining. Dry community so no alcohol. We didn't see many people of various ethnicities and races other than white. Enjoyed walking on docks, visiting shops, shuffle board, Hawaiian ices, lunch at The Hotel, and walking all around. Wonderful day!

The dock…read moreis the perfect place to watch the sunset and the walk along the lake is beautiful, showing off the houses, the flowers, and the balanced stones. The experience is one that I've come to cherish. However, there are several drawbacks I would 100% recommend renting a cottage instead of staying at Hotel Lakeside (which is the reason for such the mediocre review). The rooms, while quaint, were very dirty in the corners and I wouldn't recommend looking under the bed unless you're a dust bunny aficionado. We were told that we were going to get a kitchenette which we did not receive (and apparently there isn't one in the entire hotel). My room was nice enough (besides for the dust), but my grandparents' room's air conditioning was not working and the room had a musty odor. Thankfully they were able to get the bridal suite on the second floor but even then, the bathroom was so small we were worried they would fall and hurt themselves. In terms of food, you don't really have many options. Besides for the hotel's restaurant, there are some coffee shops that aren't open for dinner, sloopy's and the New Mexican restaurant. The hotel's food is delicious but because there are only a few items on the menu, they can get old rather quickly. Sloopy's is nice for a few meals but eating that much unhealthy food will not make your stomach very happy. This is the other reason I recommend getting a cottage. Just so you could make your own home cooked meals instead of relying on eating out. Lastly, the porch. This is the most redeeming quality to the hotel. Looking out over the lake in the covered porch with everyone quietly reading or on their phones is incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. In the end, I would recommend coming to Lakeside 100%. However, stay at the hotel at your own risk and definitely not for more than four days.

We stayed there over the 4th and we could hear every footstep in room above. Toilets had no seat tops and beds were not comfortable. Worst of all, all communication was via texting! The location is great, but for the price ($250+) we think we could have done much better. Next time we will stay at The Breakers at Cedar Point!

Microwave and tiny fridge in room. Good water pressure even on 3rd floor. This one was a deal breaker for me: the beds are super hard (some people may like this, I am not one of them) and the bedding wasn't comfortable. Looked worn, sheets were scratchy. Other: decor is dated looking, window coverings were worn, the bar felt like an afterthought, and the breakfast buffet was better then a standard continental breakfast. Breakfast is NOT included with the stay, but there is a discount for hotel guests. We were scheduled for 2 nights and only stayed one. The bed was really our major complaint, but it was a huge deal for us. A good night's sleep is important and I didn't get it. There's a lot to like here, but the bed was such a negative for us that I couldn't recommend the place to friends or family.

We were already there by that point, but our experience was very good, thankfully. Most of the complaints seem to be about noise, and I can see that during the season. We went at the end of September, off season, so much less busy I'm sure, and cheaper. There were some negatives so I'll get those out of the way first. We did have a little "neighbor noise" from the hallway and the room next door, but no more than any hotel. Rarely saw other guests except at breakfast and even then only a few. Which is another minor complaint: the breakfast was small even by hotel breakfast standards. Coffee, juice, pastries, and cereal. Yogurt. A pancake maker that beeped randomly. And that's it. Just enough to get you on the road. Other little stuff: weak wifi on the third floor (strong in the lobby.) Maybe they need repeaters. Broadcast TV only. Not that we needed it much, but being able to watch cartoons or something in the evening with a kid would be handy. If not cable, at least apps you can sign into if you have them. No fridge or microwave or clock, at least in our room. But those are really all minor niggles, and we still had a good time. The view was great. We had a two-queen Jacuzzi room, and there's a little balcony. The Jacuzzi was a blast for Kid K. She also loved the little beach (not really good for swimming with muck and goose poop, but nice to stand on.) And she liked the sand at the volleyball court, and the playground and rocks. In season they have three pools and a splashpad which would be loads of fun. Also a game room in the basement with air hockey, video games, board games to borrow. And a laundry and meeting room down there, and the ice machine. Snack and pop machines on each floor. A nice lobby with TV. The breakfast rooms were nice: bright and airy, many cozy chairs and tables. In the room comfy beds (recently updated?) A Keurig. A small bathroom with a separate vanity in the dressing area. There are cabins which would be good for big families. A marina which was in regular use. Tennis courts. So, all in all, loads to do right there. Only one restaurant nearby; most are on the other side of the peninsula, about 10 minutes away and a pretty drive. Lots of other stuff in the area of course. We had a great time, and the price was reasonable. Again, off season. Staff were great, at the desk, cleaning, breakfast. Easy to find, plenty of parking. We'd come back.

Positive; The Front desk/keeper was super friendly, the property was super cute and well taken care off. The pool refreshing, and beach for lake was clean and welcoming. The location overlooking the lake is beautiful and they have a private dock at the edge of the water that we really enjoyed sitting on. The rooms are very quaint and filled with antiques. They did not have central air conditioning in the room, so if you like to control the temperature please make note of that. The second floor rooms do seem to get a little warm, but we turned on the fan and opened the windows to catch a lake breeze. The property is about one mile from the ferry marina and the downtown area. A lovely on-island stay.

The good: Waterpark and room were clean. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Kids really enjoyed themselves (10 and 14). There are lots of restaurant options within 3-5 miles to fit any budget. The majority of lifeguards took their jobs seriously and enforced rules. It was less expensive than other indoor waterparks. Room fridge was great for storing snacks and drinks. Nearly everywhere in the hotel is crazy loud, but, the craft room was a great place to take a sensory break and slow down for a bit. The area by the aquarium on the third floor was also quieter often. There was a seating area for reading and tables available for boardgames with a view of the bay. The bad: We waited in line at 4:15 pm for a half an hour to just check in. They had a line of people filling the entire lobby with 4 staff checking people in. It was not streamlined at all. The changing room did not have a curtain or door on it. Nor did the bunk room. The only place to change privately was the small room off the bathroom with toilet and shower. Walls are paper thin. You will hear everything going on in the hall and the rooms around yours. We also happened to be right off the elevator bank which added a whole new level of noise. Elevators are slow and tiny. With luggage, you can fit 3-4 people tops. We chose the stairs almost every time despite our room being located on the 3rd floor right next to the elevators. That said, the stairwells are super loud as it's all metal and cement/concrete. Large attractions do close. The wave pool was closed half the day Saturday which was our kids favorite thing. You need a special card for any arcade, bowling, or golfing you do and that's an extra $3 charge plus what you load onto it. They have cute character "room doors" throughout the hallways. These are often right next to a room door and kids will push the buttons to make them talk all day/night. So many of the areas were unnecessarily loud. You couldn't hear anyone speak in the arcade or waterpark. Stairwells were like banging on metal drums while they echoed between 4 floors. The ugly: Their mini golf (albeit it glow course) is highway robbery. $10 per person (despite being told it was $6 by staff) and only 8 holes. The 9th hole was just putting your ball up a ramp into their skee-ball cup. If you mad it a fun sound went off, if you didn't, it collected it and played a failed sound. Our "bay view" window was COVERED in bird poop and cobwebs on the exterior side. The entire side of the building was filthy to look at. I would not suggest paying extra for the view. This might have been a one off experience in the activity pool but the one time we tried it, I had teenagers tackling me from behind as they fought over basketballs. I was pushed over multiple times by them when they crashed into me (and others in the pool) and nothing was done about it by parents or lifeguards. My kiddo and I eventually left because the ball he and another younger kid were playing with kept getting takin by the teens. Overall, it was a cheaper room option than other places but I'm not sure we'll be going back again. The extra fees for everything else adds up quick and sleep was nearly impossible with the noise level around our room.

I'll start off by saying that the water park, itself, is very nice. The arcade is also nice and spacious, with a great variety of games that seem well-maintained. However, there's some issues that really detract from the experience. Customer service was my biggest gripe. The check in guy was pretty cold at first, but later he was more helpful. I was especially disappointed with the snack bar staff. The water park snack bar is in a dimly-lit corner, and when I went in, there was no one visibly working there. After a minute, a lady came out from the back, and I asked if the snack bar was open at that time. She gave me a condescending look, and didn't say anything, as if I should obviously expect the location to be open, despite the lack of an open sign or employee behind the counter. Then another guy comes out and starts making the order and neither him nor his coworker talked at all, just kinda scowled and made my partner and I feel like we were doing something wrong just by being respectful paying customers. They were the kind of workers I'd expect to see at a run-down McDonald's late at night, not a family vacation resort. The hotel itself is also nothing special. The beds are small and not particularly comfy, but the rooms are clean and nice enough. But the walls are THIN and you hear way too much noise from other guests. Overall: good waterpark+okay hotel+bad staff=mixed experience
