Costs $20.00 per adult person and $5.00 for parking. Lakeside community is beautiful and quaint. Step back to the 1950s and enjoy life with swimming, shuffleboard, horseshoes, sailing, sand volleyball, basketball, nightly music, shopping, and dining. Dry community so no alcohol. We didn't see many people of various ethnicities and races other than white. Enjoyed walking on docks, visiting shops, shuffle board, Hawaiian ices, lunch at The Hotel, and walking all around. Wonderful day!

I've been to Lakeside twice now and each time, I'm reminded how blissfully peaceful it is. The experience is one that I've come to cherish. However, there are several drawbacks I would 100% recommend renting a cottage instead of staying at Hotel Lakeside (which is the reason for such the mediocre review). The rooms, while quaint, were very dirty in the corners and I wouldn't recommend looking under the bed unless you're a dust bunny aficionado. We were told that we were going to get a kitchenette which we did not receive (and apparently there isn't one in the entire hotel). My room was nice enough (besides for the dust), but my grandparents' room's air conditioning was not working and the room had a musty odor. Thankfully they were able to get the bridal suite on the second floor but even then, the bathroom was so small we were worried they would fall and hurt themselves. In terms of food, you don't really have many options. Besides for the hotel's restaurant, there are some coffee shops that aren't open for dinner, sloopy's and the New Mexican restaurant. The hotel's food is delicious but because there are only a few items on the menu, they can get old rather quickly. Sloopy's is nice for a few meals but eating that much unhealthy food will not make your stomach very happy. This is the other reason I recommend getting a cottage. Just so you could make your own home cooked meals instead of relying on eating out. Lastly, the porch. This is the most redeeming quality to the hotel. Looking out over the lake in the covered porch with everyone quietly reading or on their phones is incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. In the end, I would recommend coming to Lakeside 100%. However, stay at the hotel at your own risk and definitely not for more than four days.

Nobody knows. It's like a security-themed lottery where the prize is... nothing. The walls look like they've been patched by a toddler with Play-Doh, and the mold? Pretty sure it has its own zip code and voting rights. Hotel occupancy: about six people. Three of them were in our group. The rest? Probably ghosts or contractors "working on" the pot front. (Explains the fumes. Explains a lot.) Shoutout to the Glade plug-in, though. That poor little thing was trying its hardest to cover up the stench. But let's be real--it was like putting a Band-Aid on a gunshot wound. Now the bright side: The handyman was incredibly kind and went out of his way to help whenever we asked. And the hotel manager deserves a mention too--this is her very first hotel, and she just recently took over from the previous owners. She was welcoming, eager to listen, and clearly wants to make improvements. With the right updates and her effort, this place could really turn a corner. Pro Tips: * BYO Febreze (family-size). * Hazmat suit recommended. * Don't worry about overdressing--anything above pajama bottoms makes you the best-dressed in the building. * Enjoy the free buzz from the hallway fumes. Cheaper than the hotel bar you'll wish existed. Stay here if you want a story. Root for the staff if you do. Don't stay here if you want a hotel that's ready today.
