Enjoyable and relaxing. Quiet atmosphere but filled with things to do! Lakeside is very enjoyable…read morein the summer and wonderful place to take a deep breath. Costs $20.00 per adult person and $5.00 for parking. Lakeside community is beautiful and quaint. Step back to the 1950s and enjoy life with swimming, shuffleboard, horseshoes, sailing, sand volleyball, basketball, nightly music, shopping, and dining. Dry community so no alcohol. We didn't see many people of various ethnicities and races other than white. Enjoyed walking on docks, visiting shops, shuffle board, Hawaiian ices, lunch at The Hotel, and walking all around. Wonderful day!

I've been to Lakeside twice now and each time, I'm reminded how blissfully peaceful it is. The experience is one that I've come to cherish. However, there are several drawbacks I would 100% recommend renting a cottage instead of staying at Hotel Lakeside (which is the reason for such the mediocre review). The rooms, while quaint, were very dirty in the corners and I wouldn't recommend looking under the bed unless you're a dust bunny aficionado. We were told that we were going to get a kitchenette which we did not receive (and apparently there isn't one in the entire hotel). My room was nice enough (besides for the dust), but my grandparents' room's air conditioning was not working and the room had a musty odor. Thankfully they were able to get the bridal suite on the second floor but even then, the bathroom was so small we were worried they would fall and hurt themselves. In terms of food, you don't really have many options. Besides for the hotel's restaurant, there are some coffee shops that aren't open for dinner, sloopy's and the New Mexican restaurant. The hotel's food is delicious but because there are only a few items on the menu, they can get old rather quickly. Sloopy's is nice for a few meals but eating that much unhealthy food will not make your stomach very happy. This is the other reason I recommend getting a cottage. Just so you could make your own home cooked meals instead of relying on eating out. Lastly, the porch. This is the most redeeming quality to the hotel. Looking out over the lake in the covered porch with everyone quietly reading or on their phones is incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. In the end, I would recommend coming to Lakeside 100%. However, stay at the hotel at your own risk and definitely not for more than four days.

Not really a big fan of hotels in general, but this one was exactly what we needed. Well priced…read moreafter shopping around and reading reviews about other hotels in the area being close to railroad tracks and not including breakfast. Check in was very easy and fast. Room was ready, clean and we found no real issues with it. Refrigerator and Microwave were included and air conditioning was on and fresh. Beds were standard, sheets were clean and no issues. Indoor pool is a good size- kind of deep though so little ones will have to stay near the steps, but if they like to jump, there's plenty of room to jump in. Breakfast was decent, plenty of cold options like muffins bagels and cereal- hot options were home fries, sausage patties and powdered eggs which were obviously microwaved . Waffles were ordinary but hot. so overall for a free breakfast buffet, it hit the spot after a good night's sleep. Only minus 1 star for spotty in room Wi-Fi. It wasn't working when we checked in, the desk was responsive though and their provider fixed it within an hour or so. At some point in the wee hours of the morning it went down again probably due to the thunderstorm occurring outside but we didn't really need it much in the morning since we only had breakfast and hit the pool before checkout. Good decent place for no-fuss traveling- and it showed with plenty of families eating breakfast around us. We will not hesitate to use this place again when traveling through.

Rooms smelled musky, housekeeping was non-existent, sheets & drapes were ripped and mattress cover was stained. I could've taken several more photos of the mold in bathroom, bathroom door that looked like it had water damage, poor patch job in shower curtain rod, floor not vacuumed, multiple stains on carpet, sheets were very worn, bottom sheets barely fit the bed and kept coming loose, broken toilet bolts, and a few bugs as well. We had to go buy some OdorBan and room air fresheners just to make it tolerable for our stay. Unfortunately the Hampton was book or we would've just stayed there. This place is in serious need of upgrades, cleaning, and maintenance. I would not stay here unless it's your last choice. Highly disappointed in Choice Hotels for allowing a place like this in their network.
