The museum worked with us last-minute to ensure we still had all the resources we needed. Ally, the event coordinator, did numerous walk-throughs with us, was there all night to ensure everything went smoothly, and worked with a great staff.

In…read morethis non-Denver sized city, this museum has had exhibits showing the works of Picasso, Ansel Adams and Red Grooms! They have had an exhibit on Washi: The Japanese Culture of Paper Making. They also have an annual Day of the Dead exhibit created by community members and local artists. There is a permanent exhibit called 'Front Range Rising' which discusses the history of Longmont. You can see many of these past exhibits in a virtual tour on their website! In addition to the exhibits, there are movies, classes, performances and walking tours. The classes and movies relate in some way to the art exhibits. For example, an exhibition called 'Build: Design & Create with LEGO' was connected with the short films created by the legendary designers Charles and Ray Eames. During the Picasso exhibit you were able to take a class to learn how to create a Picasso style portrait. A recent update as of July 2025 is that the galleries will be closed until Fall 2026 while the Longmont Museum has a major expansion of its building. There will be even more galleries and a larger children's area! While the galleries will be closed they are still planning to have events in the auditorium and courtyard. They will also continue their educational programs.

They have a good size Kid Zone. Then they have the history of Fort Collins. Then, I believe, they have a rotating exhibit. At the time was all about Skin. On humans and animals. It was fascinating. There is so much to do and explore here! The music section is definitely a favorite as you get to test out so many instruments! Everything was well maintained (minus one or two exhibits that weren't functioning at the time). The toddler area is great for the little ones to be separate. Personally, I was absolutely stoked for the shadow wall - it's just a fun/silly thing to do. When we ventured upstairs we didn't realize there was a theater until a staff member asked if we were there to see the show. Since we had to get going, I asked if I could peak in real quick to check it out and he was totally fine with it. It looks so cool! We will definitely be back to catch a show in the future.

It is hard to put into words how much we love this place. It has become so much more than somewhere…read morewe go for laser tag, birthday parties, or a fun family night. It is genuinely one of our kids' favorite places, and a huge part of that is because of the people. I have had the opportunity to speak personally with Jeff, the owner, and it is incredibly clear how much he cares about creating a place where all families and all kids feel welcome, included, and valued. That commitment shows in the environment he has created and, even more importantly, in the people he hires and retains. The staff here are consistently kind, patient, engaged, and wonderful with kids. You can tell that culture starts at the top. I especially have to recognize MJ, who has become someone very special to our family. Our first experience with him was on the ropes course with my daughter. She needed some extra encouragement and patience, and MJ gave her both without hesitation. Despite having plenty of other responsibilities, he took the time to make her feel comfortable, capable, and proud of herself. He never rushed her or made her feel like she was holding anyone up. He simply met her where she was and helped turn something that could have been intimidating into an experience she felt incredibly proud of. That interaction may have seemed like a small moment in the course of a workday, but it was not small to our family. We still talk about it months later. My daughter formed such a special bond with MJ that she looks forward to seeing him whenever we visit, and the rest of our family does too. When it came time for her birthday, we specifically requested MJ as her party host. Once again, he went above and beyond and made her party feel absolutely magical. He remembered her, made her feel special, and gave her the kind of experience a parent hopes their child will remember for years. At first, I wondered if we had simply been lucky enough to encounter one exceptional employee. But the more frequently we have visited and the more staff we have interacted with, the more obvious it has become that this is a culture. MJ will always hold a particularly special place in our hearts because of the extraordinary kindness he has shown our daughter, but there is clearly something very intentional about the team Jeff has built. We visit often, sometimes for a birthday or activity and sometimes simply because our kids ask to go. The facility is always clean and well maintained, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy, and we consistently leave having had a great experience. There are a lot of businesses that can provide entertainment for kids. What makes this place different is how people are treated while they are there. Jeff and his team have created a place where family fun and genuine kindness seem to matter equally. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you, Jeff, for the culture you have created, and a very special thank you to MJ for the time, patience, encouragement, and care you have shown our daughter. You may never fully realize how much those moments meant to her and to us, but our family will never forget them!!

After spending a long time in traffic and arriving excited, we were told the venue was unavailable for several hours because of a private event. There was no notice online, no update ahead of time, and no effort to help families who had already made the trip. It was frustrating having to completely change plans at the last minute with kids who were looking forward to spending the day there. Better communication and updated information would make a huge difference and help avoid wasting customers' time and energy.

It's an odd location for a history museum but that's only because modern society has grown up around the original site (and the South Platte River that used to run right next to it). A friend and I were led to Fort Vasquez while we were exploring the Eastern Plains of Colorado. Our focus on that particular day had been on ghost towns and pioneer cemeteries but then we decided to pay closer attention to those historical marker signs you sometimes see off the side of the road (you know the ones - they're white with a pine tree and an arrow pointing down the road a 1/2 mile or so). We followed a few of these signs and soon realized we were witnessing a story develop; the same names were popping up over and over again). Anyway, it turns out there are several different historical fort sites scattered about the Eastern Plains of Colorado dating back to the 1800s that are incredibly important to our history: Fort Vasquez, Fort St Vrain, Bent's Fort, and Fort Garland (just to name a few). Each site has its own unique story but what they have in common is that they contributed to the commercial development of the area, facilitated westward expansion, and fostered relationships between, cavalrymen, frontiersmen, homesteaders, miners, hired mountain men like Jim Beckworth and Baptiste Charbonneau, and the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Lakota people. I think you'll be surprised at what Fort Vasquez has to offer when you take a peek at their website.
