I have gone to this place over the years and it happens every time.... 3.they purposely call cops to come onto the grounds and shine flashlights around on everybody's campgrounds at late hours to try and keep everybody in check. I have seen the park manager "the blond girl" from the woods laughing it up with the cops after they went threw and disturbed everybody....... 4. they sit there and watch you like HAWKS from the minute you pull up you will have people staring at you till the moment you leave and are pulling out they will be sitting there in lawn chairs starring at you. anybody that has anything good to say about this place rent from the RV park and get the special treatment because they have a seasonal pass... The swimming area is clean and lifeguards are on duty. There's adequate snack items availavle,available, various watercraft for rent to cruise around the pond. The scenery is postcard level, and the parking and picnic facilities are outstanding. If you want to make it a more fulfilling day for the kids, Cole Park is only a hop & a skip away from world famous Animal Adventure Park. A wonderful day is in store for you with a swim, picnic, and a visit with an amazing menagerie of exotic animals. I highly recommend Cole Park for the entire family. Have big fun!

There is swimming for about 40 feet in, and then there are boat and kayak rentals for the rest of the lake. Let me tell you something - Kayaks aRe fun! You can go so fast in them. I towed both my friends with my kayak last time, they are wimps! Boats are pretty boring to me, I could never get the oars right. Oh, as of last year, kayak and boat rentals are free. wait... FREE! Even 1 dollar is a deterrant based on principle. Here it is so easy. So THIS is where my tax dollars are going... 5 stars for free kayaks. Love kayaks.

It's been like that even back in the 70s ..... then there is the MAJOR parking problem. There is also a dirt ramp next door but it's very shallow also a very small parking area . Once in the water you need to stay in n the water because there is no public shoreline to pull up to and there is a privately paid patrol to keep you off the miles of empty shoreline. The state beach and campgrounds does not have a boat launch and is about eight miles from the boat launch ( by water ) much longer by road . ..... good luck !

When he learned that I had been to over 100 of them but hadn't been to Green Lakes he urged me to check that one off the list pronto. And you know how that goes: when someone tells you how great something is, that place suddenly starts popping up more and more in your social feeds. Well, after seeing it featured on the socials for I Love NY and NYS Parks, I finally made the trip to Central New York outside of Syracuse (wait, I can call Syracuse "Central New York" on here, right? :) ), and I was not disappointed at all. My visit was early on an October Saturday, and lots of runners and walkers were around. And a fair amount of ducks too. A mostly level 2.5-mile loop around Green Lake and another mile-ish loop around practically adjacent Round Lake (which is also a Registered National Landmark) made for a wonderful morning stroll. I was just walking and taking pictures, but clearly this is a spot where runners meet and get in a workout together. The lakes are beautiful, and, yeah, have an emerald-green glow at times. I'm really glad I made the trip there, and will definitely revisit one day.

It has the lovely Onondaga Park surrounding its shore to the north side. Unfortunately it's still one of the most polluted bodies of water in North America due to all the industry pumping sh** into it. No doubt our new President won't be doing much to clean it up, that goes without saying. If it were cleaner and safer for swimming, I'd definitely give it 5, but it's still one of the highlights of the SYR area. Can you daga that?
